You can't describe bioshock as a 'game', it is too deep to be just a game, it is more of an experience / trip in my opinion - 'games' you can complete and forget about, but bioshock is sort of a whole other reality, thats what i think anyway.
Ironic how Ken Levine (the creator of this game) created this beautiful work of art with his "useless liberal arts degree". I wonder what he read in order to create this game.
By the way, just for the hell of it, there are four dislikes. Time to grab my camera :3
@ALLIED7621 Thanks man. I know this game because my little brother played BioShock 2. I liked that game but didn't finish it, so I have to borrow his friend's first bioshock and I'm almost there to reach Andrew Ryan!!
@Andybato He stated he was obsessed with dystopia novels (like 1984, Farenheit 451) and failed utopia novels (Brave New World) other than that i have no idea where else he got his influence from.
"Aaaahhh...That's better. Atlas, Ryan, Atlas, Ryan, da dada, dadadada...time wise, you can get something decent on the radio. The artist has a duty: To seduce the ears and delight the spirit. So say goodbye to those two blowhards, and hello, to an evening...with Sander Cohen"
man this game is just too much, you can tell they put a lot of thought into it. the worst thing is people overlook the greatness of bioshock and bioshock 2 and overate other games. truly this is a work of art beautiful....just beautiful..
This is the only game that truly had me emphasize with my character.
A simple human, forced to combat the horrors of Rapture without even realizing he never had a choice in the matter. And heck... I can't even really call him a full "human", considering what Fontaine had done to him.
And the worst part is that I can't even bring myself to fully hate Fontaine... I can't bring myself to hate ANY of them. Only resent.
Gotta say, you rarely ever encounter a piece of work like Bioshock.
Of all the enemies in bioshock, Sander Cohen was my favorite. Granted he was crazy and killed those who opposed his work, there was always something about him that made me pity and admire him. But that didn't stop me from killing him and taking a picture. Turly the purest form of irony ever.
I've literally spent 2 years looking for this soundtrack :( Bioshock is one of the best videogames ever and these soundtracks just highlight the greatness of the game. Thanks for putting this on.
You think you have memories...A computer. A click. A website...And now this video. But was there really a click? Did you really come here by your own? Or was this already set as your homepage?
Bio-shock is an awesome game only just gotten into it but i much prefer battlefield bc 2 however if you were to combine the frostbite engine with bioshock that would be an epic game!
You think you have memories. A farm. A family. An airplane. A crash. And then this place. Was there really a family? Did that airplane crash, or, was it hijacked? Forced down, forced down by something less than a man, something bred to sleepwalk through life unless activated by a simple phrase, spoken by their kindly master. Come in.
Stop, would you kindly?
Would you kindly, powerful phrase. Familiar phrase?
I see all the thumbs up on everyones comment and the apperciation for all the music and Rapture I have to say. We the fans are the True Rapture Family. Who else has so much love for their fellow fans. I wish I could live in Rapture with you all.
I love how the music fits so perfectly in Bioshock. It doesn't overshadow the game, but rather, perfectly syncs with it. This song is an example of that.
Does anyone have the URL to the alternate version that plays when u kill the houdini splicer triggered after jumping off balconies to the plasmid in Fitzpatrik's piano hall???
one thinkg that i didnt like about bioschock two was so much of time was sepnt with little sister gathering and after that a big sister fight, which u always knew was coming. After like the 6th little sister gathering i was getting rather tiresome of it. People seemed more "normal" in bioschok 2, they werent as insane as ryan or fontain. But hey that just my opinion. Wanted to know what happened to tenabaurn cause u see her briefy then she runs, to hide i dunno if she got out when rapture sank
this game is the creepiest thing i have ever witnessed, and the songs are amazing, even though they send shivers down my spine whenever i hear them. there kind of calming in a weird way as well
Pros: You get to play as a big daddy. You get to watch Lamb die (if you killed at least one other NPC, of course)
Cons: The main enemy sucks. Terribly. There is no Cohen. Ryan is only heard in Audio Diaries. There's no Atlas, there's no Fontaine... I could go on with this, couldn't I?
I'm not trying to say Bioshock 2 was a bad game, it isn't in the slightest -- but the characters in Bioshock 1 were just so much more... believable. The setting... so original.
@LoyalMercenary I disagree that playing as a big daddy was a good thing. It was interesting, but it really ruined the immersion. Actually the lack of immersion was the main problem with Bioshock 2. The pacing was made awkward by the nearly required 'defend the little sister system' and pacing bits. Lamb didn't have a particularly coherent philosophy other than the concept of 'the family'. The music was not particularly well done. But most of all the plot was completely transparent...
@scythian0528 I agree the plot was pretty see through, but I found lamb's speeches poingant at times and rather entertaining. It seemed like they had big plans for this game but had to cut them out because of time contrsaints. They should have just taken the VAVLVe route and held it back for a little bit to finish everything up.
@REBELMEDIAVIDEOS By music, I don't mean original compositions, I am referring to the little tidbits of period pieces, like "Under the Sea" and "How much is that doggy". I am not even necessarily referring to the music, but brilliant done tapes like Cohen's "the Wild Bunny" There doesn't seem to be the same amount of character depth, with cohen you can see his mind gradually degrade from his lack of attention and audience. With lamb, you just have a sort of cultish psychiatrist.
@LoyalMercenary it wasn't developed by the same developer that's the problem. irrational games made bioshock 1 perfect and hopefully they will do the same to bioshock infinite
Great game, but far from perfect. Many many flaws regarding the mechanics of gameplay. Hacking system was trash, no dual wield which made for very irritating fights. Less enemies, and less engaging boss battles which made for slower pace fighting. Weapons for sub par to the 2nd game. It is a great game yes, I will give you the story was better, however thats what all the fan boys of BS 1 cling to, the story. past that, the game had many flaws that were fixed in the sequel.
@darkchaser25 i hate her more then the bioshock 1 villains simply because she is responsible for killing delta... twice. that and for what she did to sinclair. she actually gets to do a lot of bad stuff, but she just doesn't have the same kind of awesome feel that the bioshock 1 villains did. she seems too crazy were as atlas and ryan were corrupt.
@whichDude I rather liked her. She had a bit of the psychopathic man-child in her with her veiws of how to help the entire word. She could only come to those views by being the way she was during the entire game. She never has to struggle to survive and she keeps herself clean of the dirty work. She sits high on her pedistal and never needs to speak a word if she doesn't want to. She's a plotter in the name of a concept of good that went pear shaped and rusty.
I'm having trouble understanding the "wow, you're a girl and you like Bioshock/any video game ever?!" comments from guys. And whenever I see a comment posted from a girl that's all, "I'm a female and I like [video game] :)" it makes me want to punch an anthropomorphism of my gender in the face. You are not any more attractive/awesome just because you have a sex organ which is in the minority in the video gaming community. Seriously. Would you kindly go reconsider your values? Rant over. Sorry.
@TheSpareohs Well I can't speak for everyone else here buy I'd rather have sex with a person who has a sex organ which is in the minority in the video gaming community.
@TheSpareohs Yes. A thousand times yes. Man, I wish I was smart enough to have put those words together for myself, whenever the need arises to say them. The most I can muster is, "NURR YOU'RE DUMB." You spoke my mind. :D
@tigersenamon No, you are! I was just being overly dramatic in mine, so yours is probably more effective and doesn't make you seem like you need to see a therapist for occasional outbursts. Besides,if I were ever in a situation like that I would just not say anything and be awkward. So, y'know, at least you say something? Haha.
Hmm...I noticed the female comments previously. Yes, we can appreciate amazing games like this. Ones with such an...immersing plotline, with wonderful music and amazing characters. A deep analysis of the anarchic-utopian society, lost...
Great game. I can't get enough of these video-games, ones with such great stories. Fatal Frame, the first few Silent Hill. All amazing. =)
Bioshock is the most fucking legit game of all time, and the game music kicks ass. People dont know good games when tey see them anymore * cough cough COD*
the music in this game is somethin else, best game music I've heard, imo one of the reason's this game kicked so much hiney...my hiney is literally begging for mercy right about now
-sigh- Another girl posted a comment on a video game related video. "I have a vag, and play video games, this makes me uber awesome!!"
Guess what, I'm a chick too. What's it matter? Girls play video games just as much as guys. I wish people would realize that just because a chick knows how to pick up a controller and play, doesn't make her special. Does it for guys? No. So why should it if a girl plays? No offense to anyone. It's the same with music. "I'm like 16.. but I love The Ink Spots!!!"
@cassiegb365 omg i love the ink spots to and rofl i am also 16 ( my youtube acc says i am older but nvm...)
i love all these tracks from bioshock a lot but nobody from my school and class understands me :( but idc i dont need understanding of other people. Tough, i also like other old jazz music that comes in bioshock ( 1 and 2) and bioshock presented me this kind of music for the first time and now i am addicted to it :)
The only problem about this game was that it was far, far too easy. We had it all pumped up that Sander Cohen was this diabolical genius guy who was fucking amazing, but when you finally do get to fight him you realize that he actually sucks. A crossbow bolt or two drops him like a sack of potatoes.
Bioshock is quite honestly the greatest game I have ever, and hopefully ever will play...amazing shooter.....amazing atmosphere.....and as evidenced here, amazing soundtrack.... Cod, Halo, Cod, Halo....da- da- da- da- daaa...time was you could get something decent on your Gaming consoles...but the developer has a duty....to amaze and wow the gamer....so say goodbye to those two blowhards....and 'Hello' to an evening with Bioshock....
@MegaKirbySanchez I agree with you all the way, and the moral choices it makes you decide make it from playing a game, to being apart of an amazing story. my friends dont understand how I like this game..... but then again there those cod assholes who only play cod and dont know that there a TONS of other great titles for xbox 360.... like Bioshock :D
... And the young Fitzpatrick will be the next tester of Halo, Cod and the other retarded console crap ... Otherwise, what a great thoughts. Neither Sander Cohen couldn't be more poetic : )
Happy New (console-free) 1959, Rapture!
(Join us the Midnight Masquerade at the Fleet Hall.)
The Wild Bunny by Sander Cohen: I want to take the ears off, but I can't. I hop, and when I hop, I never get off the ground. It's my curse, my eternal curse! I want to take the ears off but I can't! It's my curse! It's my fucking curse! I want to take the ears off! Please! Take them off! Please! *Breaks down sobbing*
@silentwulfsfan Bioshock 2 was unique in it's own way... while the story and music in 1 was way better, 2 had more emotions in the playthrough and better endings, plus you got to see a darker side of Rapture. I agree 2 wasn't as good as 1, but calling it shit is seriusly retarded.
The artist's job is never done. The minds of the followers can be entranced in the splendor of the masterpiece, but there will always be doubters. Doubters! The ignorant souls that toss aside the artist and his creations much like the Atheist tosses aside notions of God and His creations. Is there a God? Is the artist a man of deeper understanding, or simply one that hopes to please an audience with his meaningless efforts?
So, you want to argue that? Show me where this god is, and perhaps consider that meaning does not only come from a creator. Deeper understanding comes from questioning, searching for evidence, not calling it sacred and being done with it. Is not believing in the unseeable....ignorant? I think, no.
@Billymaysfan6837 Merely trying to spark up some philosophical debate, my little moth. Questions are the basis of many a society, that fact is undeniable, but there are some questions better left to the imagination to solve. And the imagination, my friend, is the very foundation of the human mind as we know it. Are we sure that all of our information of civilizations past is accurate? No, but we assume it to be.
Is there meaning in an artists piece? There is if we so perceive it to be.
You can't describe bioshock as a 'game', it is too deep to be just a game, it is more of an experience / trip in my opinion - 'games' you can complete and forget about, but bioshock is sort of a whole other reality, thats what i think anyway.

@MegaKirbySanchez I <3 Halo and I think Cod is ok, but I would say Bioshock is definitely more of an imaginative and creative shooter.

@silentwulfsfan Bioshock 2 was unique in it's own way... while the story and music in 1 was way better, 2 had more emotions in the playthrough and better endings, plus you got to see a darker side of Rapture. I agree 2 wasn't as good as 1, but calling it shit is seriusly retarded.
tracker113 1 year ago 9
@tracker113 At least when you're going to call something retarded, write "seriously" correctly.
doom032 1 year ago
The artist's job is never done. The minds of the followers can be entranced in the splendor of the masterpiece, but there will always be doubters. Doubters! The ignorant souls that toss aside the artist and his creations much like the Atheist tosses aside notions of God and His creations. Is there a God? Is the artist a man of deeper understanding, or simply one that hopes to please an audience with his meaningless efforts?
It's all the same to the fucking doubters.
FostersNation 1 year ago
@FostersNation
So, you want to argue that? Show me where this god is, and perhaps consider that meaning does not only come from a creator. Deeper understanding comes from questioning, searching for evidence, not calling it sacred and being done with it. Is not believing in the unseeable....ignorant? I think, no.
Billymaysfan6837 1 year ago
@Billymaysfan6837 Merely trying to spark up some philosophical debate, my little moth. Questions are the basis of many a society, that fact is undeniable, but there are some questions better left to the imagination to solve. And the imagination, my friend, is the very foundation of the human mind as we know it. Are we sure that all of our information of civilizations past is accurate? No, but we assume it to be.
Is there meaning in an artists piece? There is if we so perceive it to be.

And then this place.
But did that plane crash...or was it HYJACKED?
Hyjacked, by something less than a man.
Something designed to sleepwalk through life, until they were awoken by a phrase, spoken by their kindly masters?"
