To everyone asking, you do have to have a Wireless Access Point to use Spykee since it is an 802.11 g/B network computing device. (Google "Wireless Access Point". An example of one is the LinkSys WAP54G). The Wireless Access Point talks to Spykee giving it access to your Internet connection so it can receive commands and wirelessly transmit audio and video across the Web.

No - you'll need special software for your phone. If your phone had a VNC client and your PC was running the special software, it might just about work... But I doubt it.

But hey - the thing is open source - surely someone clever out there with a smart phone has made software for it!

Wouldnt it be interesting if you could use a mobile smartphone cellotaped to it to create a truely free-roaming remotely operable robot? I think it can be done. Either by VPN over the dialup connection and accessing the phones local WiFi or with Proxying software on the smartphone or something. I think I will be buying a 3G pay-as-you-go smartphone (with WiFi capability) at the same time Im picking my Spykee up, lol. Will let you all know how it goes....

I just found this vid two days before its realeased!!! :D Im buyin it for sure. Shame there doesnt seem to be any robotic function of the upper torso or arms. Like the WiFi tho, you can use it straight away with your laptop and the internet functions (Skype, Email, Webcam, etc.) make it so much more interesting. No AI (personality/automation) software for it either, but I suppose you could write your own. Thats if you trusted yourself not to accidentally create Skynet and destroy is all!!! lol

Essentially saying that everything you very well may be looking at in this video is bogus as far as realistic performance is concerned. I would fully expect if you buy this thing to not have it function as you probably hope it would.
