Another inaccuracy in your story Cenk, this time from YOU.
At the time Agassi claims to have used meth, he WASN'T on top of the world. He was injured and his world ranking had fallen to its lowest point since he had begun playing professionally.
Sure #141 in the world still seems like the top of the world to us, but it's all relative.
When you view it from that perspective, that Agassi had sunk to a career low and was injured, it's not nearly as contemptible as you make it sound.

Ecstasy does not trigger the release of endorphins. It triggers the release of seratonin, dopamine and norepinephrine into the synapses of the brain.
None of these neurotransmitters is an endorphin. Endorphins are opioid polypeptide compounds, somewhat analogous to opiates in that they produce a pain-free "high" (e.g., "runner's high"), released from the pituitary gland into the brain.
Not the same thing at all. Very poor reporting.

It is both morally wrong what he did and for the sport's governing body to have let it go without punishment was wrong too. He could have just written a typical sports autobiography talking about how great he is and how he could have won more but underachieved. Instead he bares his soul. Anyone who criticizes him is a buffoon. During the year that he says he was taking this drug, he won practically nothing, dropped to #141 in the world, and everyone said he was finished.

Meth is a pretty harsh drug. I've seen many friends drop from that drug. I have seen friends die, go to prison, or just lose their minds. I think if he just snorted it a few times it is not a big deal. It is the people who smoke it and get hooked that are cooked and hopeless.
