The Mustang is fast ,fair enough. But what most people dont realise is the S2000s F20C engine is the most powerful masproduced N/A engine in the world in terms of HP/per litre. Second to that is the SR16VE engine found in the JDM Nissan Pulsar VZR N1, 201 HP from a 1.6L N/A. So muscle car drivers can brag about V8s all they want. But the Japs are enginnering masters when it comes to get the most power from an engine with realiabilty in the package also. That S2000 will turn a corner also FAST!
@265justy Difference of opinions, really. I prefer quality. A 300hp 4.6L V8 will last far longer than a 300hp 2.0L I4, because it's not working nearly as hard. Just basic physics. The S2000 requires a serious maintenance schedule, including a rather expensive service at 100k miles, while the mustang just needs oil changes. No valve adjustments, etc. necessary to stay reliable (not saying it isn't reliable, it just takes more work). But also those high HP/L engines don't make torque.

Respond to this video... How about this,in 1999 the new 4.6L V8 only made a whole 260hp. The 2000, one whole year later, S2000 2.0L made 240hp. Less than half the displacement. They really sad part is that the V6 pony that was still 3.8L, so almost double the size, made a whole 190hp. Honda may make lawn mowers, but even my mower makes more power than that... I love old school american muscle, but honestly our highpoint was in the 70's.America has gone downhill since.
@trich101 The S2000 also revs to 9000rpm, has 11.0:1 compression and variable valve timing and lift. The mustang GT in 1999 uses 2 valves per cylinder, less than 9.5:1 compression, no variable anything, and has a redline of I think 5800. It's no shock then that if you make 200ft-lb at 5000rpm and 200ft-lb at 8000rpm, that 8000rpm is more power. But ultimately, the GT makes over 300ft-lb, while the S2000 makes half that. But how was the 70s a highpoint? They didn't have 700hp mustangs, etc.
