  • I like how the theme of the castle resembles the battle theme (foreshadowing?).

  • Why didn't you run from the Gigas encounter?

  • KAIN'S HAIR IS NOT PINK!!!!!!

  • @ the end of the vid:

Gigas 1: Heh heh heh, nice hit.

Gigas 2: All right, we got 'em!

  • was it just my grinding, the fact I have the dawn of souls version, or am I just that good because I never had trouble with hill gigas. REVENANTS, on the other hand....

  • 1:23 was i just never paying attention or do they always stand on the door like that when you exit one? lol

8:02 fourth path will lead us to the end?? i thought there was only three! IM SO CONFUSED! :)

  • "I'm not going to be dying much"

    Double Gigas.

    "Ohhhh crap"

  • lol

"First path is really short. Second path... is... not quite so short, but short enough. And the fourth path will lead you to the end."

    Where's the third?

  • heheheh i was following the game with u and i didnt get the 2 gigas' so i chuckled

  • I know the video is old, but it would of been a good idea to equip Guy with the Giant Helmet for extra power, which should put his atk high enough to land more hits easily increasing the chance for curse. One mistake I think you make in this LP is being too focused towards magic, and not focused enough towards melee and strengthening melee by prolonging enough battles. Another good idea would be to follow up a curse with a sleep sword, but that relies on better atk.

  • In the last battle with a Gigas, I used Maria's FIRE which was at level 5. Dealt about 130 damage per round and the gigas dies before Guy could land a successful curse. It seems to be a bit more efficient than trying to Berserk your other party members while waiting for curse to work.

  • welcome to be the i wanna be the guy of rpg's

  • Wow. This ending seems abrupt. I guess Getting killed by gigas at the end of this video wasn't really what you had in mind.

  • First time I see HC die and not get edited out. xD

  • No, it's spelled Giygas.... oh wait that's EarthBound.

  • Isn't Hiryuu the name of the wind drake in Final Fantasy 5

  • @Vyse195 no Hiryuu was a dragon in final fantasy 5 but a hiryuu did belong to the guardian of wind i guess is what you would call that guy although you probably don't care by now

  • @kyo1546 In GBA the Hiryus were known as Wind Drakes. In both worlds Kara/Krile and Lenna had a pet Hiryu.

  • @Blackdrake1 Oh! Was not aware of that. I should've figured with the word Drake involved. I didn't even think about it lol. Thanks for the information.

  • did you just sayd 4th path at 8:03?

  • Same architect.. lol...

Damn you Bailly everytime i watch one video of your's.. it's like ... 2 HOURS later!!!!!!!

I was looking somthing up and actually STOPED PLAYING FALLOUT3GOTYE!!!!!!

  • I just noticed... The castle music appears to be an arrangement of the battle theme.

  • if you use protect on a weak enemy alot and just keep hitting it can you levelup your weapons?

  • You can run into Gigas groups outside the cave, too. I just learned this. Three times in a row no less.

    Surely a freak occurence, but...

  • I just use berserk on the top guy who I have with a sword and it seems to work well enough. Curse never seem to work as it always misses but just beserk the sword user and equip him with the wing sword and you won't have too much problems with the gigas. But I agree. They are really out of place to be showing up as random encounters in this dungeon at this point in the game.

  • I hate Gigas too. I'm blocked here ç_ç

  • I do believe this one ended more tragically than any episode of any of your other LPs :-(

  • What were the programmers smoking when they decided to make this area so hard? Even in the DoS version this place is hard!

  • This is FF13 for the 360!!

  • posion water doesn't that sound like final fantasy 5 or 6 for cyan castle

  • Your party is dead. While the game over music plays, let us mourn the loss of our comrades... and then we move on. I mean, it just can't end here.

I know I pick on this game for being confusing at times, but at least I prefer this game over FFV. FFVI I believe is slightly longer, but FFV just feels a hell of alot longer.

  • An eyedrop? Just one eyedrop!? Must be pretty potent to completely cure blindness.

  • im blind

    i know

    lets use eye drops

  • Because eyedrops are WAY more effective than laser eye surgury.

  • Yeah, the Gigas battles are pretty tough, which is why before getting to this dungeon I try to have over 900 HP for everyone so I can make sure that if I face 2 at a time there'd be a low chance of them killing someone if they both attacked the same person in 1 turn. You mentioned, however that you shouldn't wait to get higher HP for this, but I'm not sure why not, it's not a lot of HP and no enemy (that I remember) uses drain in this dungeon. So it shouldn't be a big deal.

  • Blind them

    job done

    they helpless

  • The trouble with Blind is that in my testing, it doesn't work effectively enough without working in conjunction with Blink. Even then, a single hit can be pretty bad. Without grinding, this place can be a little rough.

  • Would not because i would have near to max stats at this point coz i power game... i can not help it.

  • @HCBailly

I just had the luckiest encounter ever

I ran through the dist cave and got the pendant without 1 encounter

  • @HCBailly back at that one place where gygases where in a chest, they didnt hit me 1 single time!

  • @HCBailly use the book not the spell lol Blind is amazing in book form... then use the Ruse/Blink spell on all (to respective translation) and your golden...

  • i hate when some thing like that happens in a video game. you get through a very though area then all of a sudden something deadly comes along and kills you! And you lose all that work!!

  • its even worse if you have a habit of not saving...like me...goddamn giga's

  • if u use the max stats items in the final battle it makes it sooper easy

  • PSP version you have to have like a 450 health minimum, and also u need berserk 3 and fire 5

  • Lol, I had like fire 8 by the time i was here. Gigases are not that hard with fire 8

  • LOL! Those Gigases just owned you. XD Just like you owned those bosses in later games. XD

  • honastly the one battle stat-up items are useles why waste a turn rasing a stat for one battle when you can damage the enemy

  • As an offensive gamer this area was a bitch. I hate worrying about D.

  • Ingenious to end the episode with the Game Over screen. XD

  • Comment removed

  • Why didnt you RUN!!!!

  • @Demongunner7 Yea its downright impossible to run without shields and very difficult even with them so in this game you just save often and fight everything.

  • lmao the hiryuu looks like a deformed naked gnome

  • Those Gigas monsters couldn't touch Firion on my team... I don't know if it's a glitch or whatever but if you equip two sheilds onto someone, it levels up the sheild level and the monsters cannot physically hit him =OEven the higher level ones at Fynn later on =/

  • Things like the double Gigas fight are why I always put Cure on everyone and also have things like Protect and Blink ready to use..

  • Damn, I'm serious, I was almost spitting chunks when I saw how much damage one of the Gigas' did to Firion.

    Better luck next time.

  • They killed him and used him doubly dead corpse as a bludgeoning device.

  • o0f. Rough Beats, Sir Bailly. I like how you showed the Gigas beating for all to enjoy. The PSX Gigas seems a bit softer in comparison, thank goodness.

Keep up the good work! :-)

  • i ran in to 2 gigases and i killed them because my dudes are in there 1000s allready

  • my hiryoo is like the dragon who makes you better for a rat's tail in ff1

  • i m just grabing the pendent and runing. i dont want to go through until i want to

  • i ran into gigas before i even entered the cave

  • Run from GiygaS!

  • Ya gigas's are a massive pain in the ass, lucky for me my guys were alot stronger then they needed to be when i finally got to Deist :D.

  • Î FUCKING HATE GIGASS!!!

It blows the entire game from teleporting me!

  • so i faced the gigas just now, what worked for me was the spell blink, i just blinked everyone then had guy curse the gigas (got lucky and only took one hit to curse each one) and then Berserked 3ed the party. Only took about 4 turns. Maybe that can help in thr future?

  • it sounds like giygas from earthbound

  • That's pretty amazing. They found a Unicorn in a treasure chest! It must have had holes and food or something. xD

  • There's a moral to this story... When you see a Gigas, RUN AWAY!

  • It's really not easy to run away from them...

  • Unfortunately, usually the harder the enemy is compared to how your party is, the harder it is to run away. :(

  • Didn't you have a fenix down?

  • I didn't have it equipped. Unlike other FFs, I don't have access to my entire inventory during battle. Besides, it wouldn't have helped.

  • right, they would've just killed after the revivals

  • Yup... they are completely useless in battle because you cannot target someone else with items.

  • O.o gigas rape! glad i had lv 5 curse spell :D

  • teach their guests to hold it.. Lol.

WOW!! 401 HP damage???? Unfair to the max D:>

  • Man, that is ludicrous! You had to have done at least 700 in damage to the first one.

  • Ah yes, the good ol' Gigas. I had my fair share of trouble with them in my recent playthrough of FF2 DoS. The good news is that my characters' HP, evasion, and defense seemed to rise considerably when they actually defeated them.

  • :(. That sucks.

  • Whoa. Those gigas's are evil

  • that's a first.

  • how unlucky

  • ah geez O_o that was brutal HC :(

  • Time to Grind Weapons.

  • ??? Fourth Path???

  • What happens if you equip both the ancient sword and the sleep sword, then as soon as you do one or the other to both gigases switch your shield back. I know sleep's not as good but if the accuracy count adds it's better than missing with curse. If you kept those max soul/int items I wonder if that would have helped. Or you could level up berserk to like 4 or 5 and always cast it on everyone, or at least on Guy more.

  • Oh, and that Gigas battle is a great example of why you should level up Blink (and Blind, if you really want to).

  • For a single tough battle in a single dungeon? I don't think so.

  • I said it was an EXAMPLE, not the only incident. *cough*DeathRider*cough*

  • Uh... the ElderIQ is pretty good for long battles, the problem is, there aren't many long battles in the game (barring a few more Gigas).

  • I usually save them for later in the game where they really come in handy

  • If I were you, I would have held onto that Curse Tome for a time like this to use it as an item in battle once things started to go south.

  • Or taught it to someone as a backup plan, so you could hit a Gigas with Curse twice in one round. Doubling my chances against one (or two) of those guys sounds like a smart plan to me.

Or do you intend to fill all 16 slots on them otherwise, Bailly?

  • I intend to use as few spells as possible, so as to minimize grinding time, while still avoiding incredibly hard battles for the most part. The battle I demonstrated here is the only one that is remotely challenging.

  • Mmm, less grinding time...also sounds like a smart plan.

Well then, I guess all we can do is sit back and palpitate in anticipation of your next Gigas battle :D

  • You're not the only one who totally loves Gigas. I totally love them, too.

  • dang I think I'm gonna grind before I go there O_O

  • That's unnecessary for a few reasons.

    1) I got extraordinarily unlucky. Usually I will only run into a single Gigas.

    2) I didn't prepare my party to handle such a battle. With the right adjustments, even the battle in which I died is winnable.

    3) After this area, the enemies return to tolerable difficulty levels. Gigas is just way out of place in the game for a random encounter.

  • Sounds like Star Ocean for the SNES.

  • I held on to the ElderIQ till the final boss

And i killed the boss in like 4-5 rounds

  • It's always been my opinion that this was the hardest FF. It appears that may very well be true. Just like 1ingedauron though, I usually concentrate on killing one at a time and I use all the characters to do it.

  • ouch, wipeout. :'(

  • I love how this castle, despite containing no monsters, still has those annoying "encounter rooms" with absolutely nothing in them.

  • Hmm, Imperials poisoning the water supply? Kefka, you copycat.

I guess Guy should have spent some time learning Hiryuu alongside his learning Beaver language.

Gigas? Run Away Brave Sir Robin... Or can you?

  • Probably not. In my experience, "Run" never works when you want it to in this game.

  • Gigas are far too fast to run away from.

  • "Hmm, Imperials poisoning the water supply? Kefka, you copycat."

    But Kefka did it better.

  • True that.

  • It's fun to see you get annihilated as soon as I wake up, it makes me smile

  • HOLY SHIT @ THE GIGAS O_O

  • I think that firions party just got raped for health

  • Omg, that kid can teleport!

Heh, the Wyvern in the GBA version makes the Hiryuu in this version look so weak.

Nice point with finding the bathroom, though there isn't one. o-O

My startegy agains Gigas' is just attacking one with the entire party, Curse helps but I would've attacked only one of them to kill it faster, maybe the un-cursed one leaving only the weaker one left.

  • I was completely unprepared for that fight. When I make my trips to the lower levels, I usually like to put Firion and Maria in the back rows, so that they can freely remove their equipment and allow their spells to do the work. What I would do in that instance is the same strategy, but they would never get to my mages. At worst, even if they killed off Layla and Guy, I could have Firion cast Life every round, and hope that at least one of them survives, so that my back row remains intact.
