Windows Movie Maker 2.0 Tutorial for Windows Vista

I have installed Windows Movie Maker 2.6 for Windows Vista on my Windows 7. Which is a clone of Windows Movie Maker 2.1 that is on Windows XP. 2.6 is exactly the same as the Windows XP version. Which I like better than Windows Movie Maker 6.Which is more like Windows Live Movie maker in my opinion. Andrea Borman.

I use WMM 2.0 for about a year now... but lately it isn't functioning as it used to. While doing a project it just crashes with the error: Windows movie maker isn't functioning anymore. Happens all the time with different projects, really anoying since it seems to happen right in the middle of a project.

Do you have any ideas of what i could do to make this stop? Thank you!

this is very common in wmm. It happens when you overload your pcs internal memory (RAM) OR when you don't have enough space to save the published work to your hard drive. what you must do is shut down everything you don't need on while your publishing your video, & publish the video to your desktop. hopefully that'll work. if not remove a few effects from your project as too manyy effects on one clip can cause the same problem.

before I could choose Recommeded settings and it went automatically to the best quality and on youtube it had HQ, now I don't know why but the files are smaller when I save with "recommend" and it's not HQ.... I have vista

recommended settings ALWAYS saves the video on its lowest setting(VHS Output). If your looking for HD type stuff you must save the vid as a X-Box Output.

1st you need a program that'll convert the dvd files to video that wmm can recognized. use "AlltoAvi". Its a free video converter.

you CAN use WLMM but i wouldn't recommend it. The program is too under developed to be any real good. stick to WMM.

Is there any way to insert a video in WMM at a specific time on the timeline, rather than having all the clips go straight to the beginning?

I have 5 mins of audio and I want to insert video somewhere in the middle, but the clips will only insert themselves at the very beginning, after another clip, before another clip or in between other clips.

I would have thought that if you dragged it to a specific time along the timeline it would stay there, but it doesn't.

heres your problem. Most likely the videos are saved where you'd find all the programs you have installed. Most likely C - Output Folder or something to that effect. what you'd do is open y-downloader and check where your downed vids goto. Once you find them, change the location of where to save them at.

I have this version from WMM, but EVERYTIME I make a video...the final result shows a green bar in the lower half of the screen, and the image itself is streched.

solution!

re-enable the XviD MPEG-4 Video Decoder again if you turned it off

Go to Start Menu - All Programs - XVid - Configure Decoder

In the Output - options, choose Compatibility Renderer and click OK. This still utilises the XVid MPEG4 codec and resolved the half green screen issue.

WMM can only import certain file types, Like AVI ASF, & its own format WMV.

it cannot import MOV, RM, VOB and other file types.

If your camera is AVI, then most likely you'll need to google Vista Codec Package and download the newest version. Its easy to install & free.

wow, i dont no how you did it but if you actually did, (which i kinda doubt seeing as how if you did your windows os might be screwed) Congrats, you've done something i've only seeing the developers of the system do.; lol You must goto to the microsoft website and re-download it. No other real choice. the only of way to get it back is with your OS disk. either by repairing the system or by clean-rebooting it and no one wants that. lol

an easier way to see if its there is by going to control panel - programs and see if wmm is still there. if it is relax and look around your pc for it.

just make sure you create a shortcut to the old version and place it on your desktop.

goto your program files and look for a folder that just6 says "Movie Maker". Make sure you dont goto "Movie Maker 2.6". Go into it and look for the Movie Maker Application, right click on it and choose Create Shortcut. then it might say that it cant make one here place on desktop instead, do that and you'll be able to use your old one again.
