I don't think his natural accent is completely gone. I just don't think he deliberately uses it in the public, being the very private individual that he is. Plus, he don't want people to confuse his characters with himself during the entire duration of his movies.

@Indiegirl007 depends on what he is filming. he is a method actor, so he keeps whatever accent the character has 24/7 until his next role. as soon as he plays a british character.. its back to his natural accent. when not working he still sounds like this though
