Carmen Miranda was as Brazilian as they come. A good art of the Brazilian population has portuguese blood. There was a massive porguese immigration to Brazil in the 20th. century (mostly in the first 30 years). When she arrived in Brazil she was just a baby girl...We are rather lucky! Had her parents stayed in Portugal we problably would not have this wonderful artist.

Americas relationship to Canada or England isnt the same as Brasil & Portugal or Spanish speaking countries in Latin America & Spain. Yes, she was the real thing. You might want to check out the rest of her Youtube videos, especially those posted by Doni Sacramento (he's done a fabulous job of capturing her best of talents). And I couldn't believe it either, when I first saw videos of her performances, what an unbelievably talented artist she was. We lost this angel waaay too early, but what a gift she left everyone, eh? :>

@Gui7FEI No, from what I can see and hear in her work she is brazilian. I was born in Sweden, but moved to America when I was a baby and i feel like im 100% american. The songs she sings, the way she dresses, it all screams ''brazilian''.
She may have been born in Portugal, she might be Portuguese by birth, but you can't say she is Portuguese by heart and soul.

I have now watched this about 20 times and I am not really getting tired of it. I don't think singers today can come up with this immaculate intonation and articulation. She is fantastic and legend.

And I couldn't believe it either, when I first saw videos of her performances, what an unbelievably talented artist she was.
