This song is not a protest song, none of Bob Dylan's songs were protest songs. He wrote what he felt, and he put a tune to them. It wasn't folk music, it wasn't anti-war protests, it was POETRY. It was pure and meaningful poetry. Bob Dylan was an artist who cared of nothing but to share his feelings and poetry with his audience. He did not hope to stop the war with his music. Stop associating him with anti-war! JUST APPRECIATE HIS TALENT, you're all analyzing his music more than he did himself.

A beautiful artist, and what a moving song...I know this was during the Vietnam war, but it seems that American history is having some repeats with wars, protests, discrimination...and this song is fitting for the current time.

Baez looked a little bit chewy then, unless you are into Hispanics, but now with the short cropped gray hair, it's nasty. She could hit the high notes in this song. Not now. Like the late Frank Sinatra, she talks them in her reprises of her early hits.

I think this may be the earliest film of Joan Baez that I've ever seen...it actually looks like it was filmed before she was widely known. Anyone know the year on this, or whether she had met Bob Dylan in person yet at this point?

@elmerhdga Are you completely daft? First, if your going to refer to Dylan, say "Bob Dylan" or "Robert Zimmerman". Don't mix his aliases. It's disrespectful. Dylan has a unique style of singing yes, but it shouldn't be downgraded like your doing. Dylan and Baez both are amazing Folk artists and you have no right to insult either. Furthermore, It isn't Dylan who is over-zealous with the copyrights, It's Vevo.
