I'm having trouble with the R2 U F2 U2 R2 U R2. There is a lot of regrip in there. I've found that if you do L2 U F2 (the F2 with left hand) U2 L2 U L2 there is no regrip and is a lot faster. I'm sure you know this but just in case =) I hate it when people tell me better ways in comments as well so tell me to get lost if you don't like it LOL
@theWestonian hey no problem. Dude I have an F2L tutorial series with 5 videos full of bad F2L algorithms LOL. this tutorial is great! I don't know how some people can't understand it like some comments suggest. I've got a lot of requests to make a tutorial on Ortega as well so I'm shopping around learning the best of everybody. Hope you don't mind =)
too much work learning that many algorithms for a 2x2. you can just use the R' D RD' to OLL and the X R' U R' D2 R U' R' D2 R2. Way easier. not as fast but it still works all the same.
I don't mean to be a critic but on the last layer where you do a T-perm and switch the 2 adjacent corners, I think it's easier to put the 2 corners in front and do an A perm. :D Nice tutorial!
Wait when u have one layer completed, by simply doing this algorithm x [(R' U R') D2] [(R U' R') D2] R2 competes the cube for me??? you don't need all those different algorithms
"There is seven cases, most of the you probably already know" .... NO! ... and that's the reason I'm looking for a bloody tutorial. Why assuming, that people already know, what you are trying to teach?
Just explain it or stop calling it a tutorial. Call it "Nerds review" or whatsoever.
You probably already know them because they are algs that you use to solve a 3x3, and you probably already know how to solve a 3x3 if youre trying to learn Ortega.
@theWestonian This guy just doesn't know a basic method of solving the 2x2 Rubik's cube :P My averages are about sub-11 using it :( I suck at 2x2 hardly lmao
is it just me or did the link stop working? The link to the site has worked for like the past week, now as of today, its taking me to some random ad, fake site. idk if its my computer or if its the site.
@eyeballs97 its a 90 degree counterclockwise turn. its how the algorithms are connotated. a single letter is a 90 degree clockwise turn. a letter w/ an apostrophe is counterclockwise. and a letter w/ a 2 is a 180 degree turn

For the algorithm R' F R2 U' R2 F R, there is a really nice replacement wich is very easy to perform and learn, If you hold the cube so that the headlights are facing to the left, it's just: F [R U R' U'] [R U R' U'] F' ;)
@edwinsmartyo This doesnt make much sense. Why would I do the A perm twice when I could just do a y perm once, and on a 3x3 the A perm can be faster than a T perm, but on a 2x2 you cant grip on to anything while you are doing the A perm.
@kgdorjee it looks smooth, it's not a v-cube 2 and it isn't an eastsheen, it's probably a lanlan or a ghost hand, but with cubesmith stickers i think :D
the first 2 pll's he showed at like 6:00 can respectively be shortened by using R, U2, R', U', R, U2 , L', U, R', U', L and F2, U', R, U', R', U, F2, U, R, U, R'

@indyur1 Depends, I learned this method + algs in less then an hour (first time I touched a 2x2) and averaged 8 seconds after 2 hours of practicing. But I've cubed a lot with the 3x3 (average 20 seconds), 4x4 and I do 3x3 blindfodled often. So that helps.

@VcUbEbEaSt648 well we all have preferences i personally think its easier to just flip the cube and do the algorithm, you can do it how you want to do it and so can i (and no im not trying to be mean here im just saying my preferences)

Heyy Weston, For your T alg...I think using Ja is faster...I no it is for me anyway, but if you havent tryed it already then you should...There are no F moves...but not really that much faster so idk just saying. Good video...I'm about to make one, i've been wanting to for awile now =P

great tutorial you could just do the three corner cycle for the 2 by one block and other layer solved case though and t would be much faster
mcclurify 2 years ago
thanks! but how is doing a corner cycle faster than a T perm?
Here are reason why its slower.
1. For the 3 corner cycle, it takes longer to recognize because you have to worry about counter clockwise vs clockwise
2. The alg is slower. RUF algs are faster than URD algs in general. The T perm is super fast.
3. 3 corner cycle has a rotation before it.
I can sub 1 a T perm, but my 3 corner cycles take like 1.5 seconds.

For the 2 corners next to each other for PLL I use R U2 R' U' R U2 L' U R' U' L.

Hey Weston, which method is better
ortega method or guimond method
skywarns 2 years ago
all depends on the scramble.
in general though, i think that guimond has more potential but you have to be able to see all the way through the solve except PBL in order for it to be fast
