  • at 5:50 instead of doing that long algorithm you can make it shorter do R U2 R' U' R U2 L' U R' U' L

  • at 5:50 instead of doing that long algorithm you can make it shorter buy putting the 2 paired sides on the left like he said and do R U2 R' U' R U2 L' U R' U' L

  • I'm having trouble with the R2 U F2 U2 R2 U R2. There is a lot of regrip in there. I've found that if you do L2 U F2 (the F2 with left hand) U2 L2 U L2 there is no regrip and is a lot faster. I'm sure you know this but just in case =) I hate it when people tell me better ways in comments as well so tell me to get lost if you don't like it LOL

  • @crazybadcuber Did I really put that alg in this video? It's been so long that I can hardly remember. But you are right, that is a terrible alg. :p

  • @theWestonian hey no problem. Dude I have an F2L tutorial series with 5 videos full of bad F2L algorithms LOL. this tutorial is great! I don't know how some people can't understand it like some comments suggest. I've got a lot of requests to make a tutorial on Ortega as well so I'm shopping around learning the best of everybody. Hope you don't mind =)

  • algorithm link is down got another?

  • Hey, is there any tips anyone can give me on actually memorizing those algorithms, there just so hard to remember!

  • this is the hard way its can be solved easyer and faster with my methood i got it in 13 seconds

  • @sevonrock you can get times sub 5s easily with that method

  • Can someone help me with my 2x2, it keeps popping inside and it gets kinda annoying, what can i do to prevent it

  • Wouldn't be easier to use R' F R B' R' F' R B instead of F R U' R' U' R U R' F'? Personally, I think it's faster. By the way, nice tutorial

  • Good job bro

  • Can u make a website with the algorithms and cases so i can print them out?

  • Very good tutorial, very good. I'm almost going crazy solving my 2 x 2 but with your tutorial I won't have problems any more. Thanks!

  • too much work learning that many algorithms for a 2x2. you can just use the R' D RD' to OLL and the X R' U R' D2 R U' R' D2 R2. Way easier. not as fast but it still works all the same.

  • Thanks Nepoleon Dinomite! <3

  • i learned by myself how to solve it, once yo know how to solve the 3x3x3 cube, 2x2x2 is quite easier.

  • I don't mean to be a critic but on the last layer where you do a T-perm and switch the 2 adjacent corners, I think it's easier to put the 2 corners in front and do an A perm. :D Nice tutorial!

  • Wait when u have one layer completed, by simply doing this algorithm x [(R' U R') D2] [(R U' R') D2] R2 competes the cube for me??? you don't need all those different algorithms

  • nice vid thx :)

  • helped a lot!

  • Christ this bloody thing is harder than the 3x3!

    I'm getting there though... :\

  • this cube is an edison 2x2

  • nice videos!

  • "There is seven cases, most of the you probably already know" .... NO! ... and that's the reason I'm looking for a bloody tutorial. Why assuming, that people already know, what you are trying to teach?

Just explain it or stop calling it a tutorial. Call it "Nerds review" or whatsoever.

  • @Rodnox Jesus, what is your problem?

You probably already know them because they are algs that you use to solve a 3x3, and you probably already know how to solve a 3x3 if youre trying to learn Ortega.

  • @theWestonian This guy just doesn't know a basic method of solving the 2x2 Rubik's cube :P My averages are about sub-11 using it :( I suck at 2x2 hardly lmao

  • @theWestonian what is sub10 or sub6 or subwhatever?

  • @kevinisanaaron sub=under, so he means under 10 second or under 6 second solve time :)

  • @theWestonian I can't solve 3x3, and I can solve 2x2s fine. ;)

    Don't assume, I think he's right.

  • @GameLecturn I said that you "PROBABLY" already know them.

Do you honestly think that most people learn the 2x2 ortega method before they learn to solve a 3x3? No.

  • @theWestonian So... umad?

  • @theWestonian i learned 3x3, then 4x4, and now im looking to solve a 2x2 in under 15 seconds if i can.

  • @theWestonian i think that theWestonian is right. this is an advanced 2x2 method meant for people that know at least two look fridrich method

  • @Rodnox there are some peolple who start cubing hes just trying to help them out ps that algarithym that was at 6:30 was long

  • @Rodnox Atleast he shows you it...

  • @Rodnox

Are you blind, he goes through and explains the 7 cases anyway.

  • ok why isnt the ideo working now?

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WHERES THE LINK

  • @MrSymboliK oh.. Thanks~ ^^

  • ddhjsansjn

  • is it just me or did the link stop working? The link to the site has worked for like the past week, now as of today, its taking me to some random ad, fake site. idk if its my computer or if its the site.

  • What does sub means

  • @PianoAbsalom Below. Like, if I'm sub 6 at ortega, i can average constanly below 6 seconds.

  • i can solve a 1x1 rubiks cube

  • can someone plz fucking explain to me what the R' the F' and the U' is????

  • @eyeballs97 its a 90 degree counterclockwise turn. its how the algorithms are connotated. a single letter is a 90 degree clockwise turn. a letter w/ an apostrophe is counterclockwise. and a letter w/ a 2 is a 180 degree turn

  • in my opinion would be better to do the J perm instead of the T perm at 5:20

    In the same position R, U2, R', U', R, U2, L', U, R', U', L

  • what happens if you have a pair on the top and on the bottom??? different colors though

  • What a legend that guy is epic

  • For the algorithm R' F R2 U' R2 F R, there is a really nice replacement wich is very easy to perform and learn, If you hold the cube so that the headlights are facing to the left, it's just: F [R U R' U'] [R U R' U'] F' ;)

  • @flyingplane1 Actually, the alg I showed is the replacement to the one you wrote.

  • i seriously cant figure this out>.<

  • Cube ?

  • 1:12 first step

    1:50 second step

    5:04 last step

  • Wouldn't it just be easier instead of learning the last algorithm to do an x2 and the second to last algorithm, R U' R F2 R' U R' ?

  • @kazekage281 What's your point

I don't do that because its slow and stupid.

  • I know how to do the case at 5:40 with just 11 moves :D

  • When the last 2 corners need to be swiched, just do:

    R 2U R' U' R 2U L' U R' U' L That's way faster.

  • How can i do this blindfolded?

  • Doing R' F R' B2 R F' R' B2 R2 with headlights on the back is faster than using the T-perm or the Y-perm.

  • @edwinsmartyo LOLNO

  • @theWestonian yes it is

  • @edwinsmartyo Can you sub .9 that alg? (Which is just an A perm, which sucks to execute on 2x2)

  • @edwinsmartyo T perm is a gliding algorithm which naturally goes fast

  • @edwinsmartyo This doesnt make much sense. Why would I do the A perm twice when I could just do a y perm once, and on a 3x3 the A perm can be faster than a T perm, but on a 2x2 you cant grip on to anything while you are doing the A perm.

  • @kgdorjee it looks smooth, it's not a v-cube 2 and it isn't an eastsheen, it's probably a lanlan or a ghost hand, but with cubesmith stickers i think :D

  • my record was 37 sec now its kinda 10 or 9 sex

  • <3

  • at 2:35 something impossible happens

  • It worked. I just hate how there are so many different cases and algorithms.

  • the first 2 pll's he showed at like 6:00 can respectively be shortened by using R, U2, R', U', R, U2 , L', U, R', U', L and F2, U', R, U', R', U, F2, U, R, U, R'

hold the cube exactly as shown in the video. try them out if u want

  • SORRY..... i found it thanks .....

  • uggg you didn't show the case for two adjecent corners on top and bottom ...or if you did i didnt see them but there not on lance the blue night alg website ...if you could help me out as soon as possible that would be great

  • how can i do it if i don't know friedrich

  • Thanks. all algoriths written down, now imma going to teach them. Thanks alot =))

I dont wanna learn another 70 algorithms to do the PLL-- I think totally.

Ill always do the cross and then those 7 algorithms.

Are there better versions of those 7 algorithms for the 3x3 or its all the same?

  • Thanks a lot man, and is the Ortega method one of the fastest methods for the 2x2? (New with the 2x2)

  • top*

  • what if you get a pll skip on the last layer?

  • i can solve thanks

  • what the hell is OLL and XLL noone every says, what the hell is it.

  • what color scheme do you use. i love it.

  • how do you memorize all of these

  • is averaging 14.47 good when i learned it 3 days ago?

  • @indyur1 Depends, I learned this method + algs in less then an hour (first time I touched a 2x2) and averaged 8 seconds after 2 hours of practicing. But I've cubed a lot with the 3x3 (average 20 seconds), 4x4 and I do 3x3 blindfodled often. So that helps.

  • For the first XLL case you show, i think using a J-perm might be easier and faster

  • Where is the case with z´?

  • thanks man now i can solve it ;D

  • Get a lan lan! And check out my ortega method too! have a nice day!

  • thanks!! i barely get sub tens, the algorithms will help alot

  • @theWestonian can the opposite situation of the sune case can be the anti-sune algorithm.. ( R' U' R U' R' U2 R')

  • @purplethig1998 That's right, and better for everyone used to fridrich method...

  • where to learn ss?

  • Best 2x2 omega 2torial on youtube

  • hey, what kinda cube is that. please reply!!!!!!!!

  • your 2x2 is so smooth how did u make it like that

    oh and which cube

  • This tutorial is very, very good.

    Great job.

  • What does sub-6 ,sub-5 ect. mean?

  • @MySecretagentman Below 6 seconds. For example, on the 3x3 I average Sub-30. That means on the 3x3 I average below 30 seconds.

  • @ezarlol Now I feel so stupid.... How did i not put that together?

  • Very good only vid that worked

  • Is this a rubiks brand cube? Please reply

  • @jrracer108 no

  • @theWestonian lan-lan?

  • if there was some mutant with 1 more finger on each hand, cubing would be so much easier

  • So which is better, Ortega or EG?

  • What cube do you use? And Maru or Lanlan?

  • this is a very good tutorial thanks much

  • @naruto12345678912 How is it memorizing an extra algorithm? Its the same alg...

Just done at a different angle. And its not at all useless. Its must faster to learn another alg than to do z2 then the other alg

    -_____-

  • @naruto12345678912 speedcubing is all about how fast you can solve a cube in the least amount of cube rotations...so on a 3x3 if i needed to fill the back right F2L the is it faster to turn the cube or just very quickly minipulate the top and right layer of the cube??? and there might be a B somewhere in there but is it faster to reach back and flick the B layer and then do your R turn, or is it faster turn the cube and do an R on the B layer and then turn the cube back and turn your R layer???

  • @VcUbEbEaSt648 well we all have preferences i personally think its easier to just flip the cube and do the algorithm, you can do it how you want to do it and so can i (and no im not trying to be mean here im just saying my preferences)

  • @naruto12345678912 u sound soooooo retarded..."bonk on the forehead"... FAIL!!!

  • @naruto12345678912 that is exactly what i was thinking just less rudely

  • subscribed

  • thats a lot to remember

  • I've got a question... What type is your cube and where did you buy it?

  • Hi,

I've got a question. What typ is your cube and where did you bought ist?

    Your cube is very good.

I have a 2x2x2 too but it is the standard cube.

You are very quickly ;) RESPECT

  • Hi,

I've got a question. What typ is your cube and where did you bought it?

i have a 2x2x2 too but it is the standard cube and a little bit slowly.

You are very good ;) RESPECT

  • Nice tut

But EG is still the best 2x2x2 method lol

  • btw in the case at 3:39 easier way to do it is is R U R' U R U2 R'. and at 4:14, hold it so the headlights are opposite shown in the vid (in the back), and do the same algorithm mentioned above. if you are a beginner, use those instead!

  • thanks

  • are you going to make the SS tutorial?

  • There are much better 2x2 algs for y and t perms. T perm use x U2 R' U' R U2 L' U R' U' R2. Y perm use R U' R' U' F2 U' R U R' D R2.

  • @405Ryan405 yeah, you mean you can use a J1 perm instead of a t perm :) and the normal Y perm is ok i think

  • this is awesome my 1st layer oll i can do in an av of 4-5 moves as appossed to like 6-7 or 8 for fridrich 1st step thanks

  • what's the fastest you have using ortega?

  • Thnk You So much, theWestonian !!!!

Using the algorithems you provided, I made up my own meothod , So thankyou, again. :)

  • what does XLL stand for? I hear some people say pbl(permute both layers) and some people say xll

  • I was just doing a bunch of 2x2 solves, and I got 2 pll skips in a row, CRAZINESS!

  • For the case at 5:38 I would use this algorithm:

    L U R U L U2 R U R U2 R

Less moves, and for me more comfortable!

  • For the case at 6:54 I prefer:

    R2' U' R2 U2' F2 U' R2

Thanks for the great tutorials, Weston! (my favorite YouTube cuber :P)

  • Those algorithms doesnt work for me..it doesn't solve the cube, haha.

  • Blueknightcubing is down i think ;(

  • Yeah lance told me that his domain name expires this month. Ill let him know its on when i see him online next.

  • @theWestonian The alg at 3:51 is fine but if you hold the cube in the same way then do L' U L U F U' F' then that'll solve the cubes in less moves :D

  • I think it is back up now

  • For the one layer adjacent switch, i use R U2 R' U' R U2 L' U R' U' R'

  • the XLL / PBL alg with L and D turns can be discounted completely by doing a z2 rotation and using the previous alg that uses only R, U and F. I find that R U F algs are much faster to perform, so see what you think

  • only 3 cases aaaahhhhhhhahahahahahah

  • tanx dude!

  • what is "SS"?? you mentioned it in the info section......

  • weston, do you know which is the fastest method for 2x2???

  • ES I think its called.

  • There is no fastest method.

  • @theWestonian Yes CLL but there are too much algs :)

  • great tutorial you could just do the three corner cycle for the 2 by one block and other layer solved case though and t would be much faster

  • thanks! but how is doing a corner cycle faster than a T perm?

Here are reason why its slower.

    1. For the 3 corner cycle, it takes longer to recognize because you have to worry about counter clockwise vs clockwise

    2. The alg is slower. RUF algs are faster than URD algs in general. The T perm is super fast.

    3. 3 corner cycle has a rotation before it.

I can sub 1 a T perm, but my 3 corner cycles take like 1.5 seconds.

  • u just use the normal method and i get around 5 every time

  • For the 2 corners next to each other for PLL I use R U2 R' U' R U2 L' U R' U' L.

  • Hey Weston, which method is better

    ortega method or guimond method

  • all depends on the scramble.

in general though, i think that guimond has more potential but you have to be able to see all the way through the solve except PBL in order for it to be fast

  • thanks

  • Ohh for the case R2 U F2 U2 R2 U R2... You can use the last case you said from the back with the 2x1 on top and bottom

  • Heyy Weston, For your T alg...I think using Ja is faster...I no it is for me anyway, but if you havent tryed it already then you should...There are no F moves...but not really that much faster so idk just saying. Good video...I'm about to make one, i've been wanting to for awile now =P

  • what is the SS method in the description

  • Thanks Weston for this tutorial

  • What is the type of the cube that you used in this video??????????

  • eastsheen 2x2 with bright stickers from cubesmith

  • Eastsheen.

  • i think i have better alg for the 1st case of the last step: RU2R´U´RU2L`UR´U´L. Its a bit faster

  • lol if you prefer learning 27 algs to 7 algs

  • GREAT TUTORIAL!!!!!!!!!!! 5*

  • yo conozco al burrito ortega
