Is our attitude one of repentance and turning away because we know it was his blood that was required to cover it--the sin. Who is C S Lewis?

he did not understand christian living, not with his flagrant denials of grace in Mere Christianity. these included his counsel as to unblieving thought: SHOVE THEM BACK. Such is will of the flesh, legalist, and extremely dangerous.

He also advocatged hypocrisy saying LET'S PRETEND. If this is godly counsel then the pharisees are owed an apology.

So Lewis is a heretic when it comes to christian living, so his apologetic is not worth much, not to me.

@Strefanash I think this may be a matter of interpretation, that is, what 'shove them back' means. Look at II Cor 10 4The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. How do we demolish? Grace is very relevant BUT "we fight" too!

what i am saying is that nothing in lewis' context gave any hint of biblical response here. You might quote II corinthians, but lewis did not. He invoked willpower, will of the flesh, plain and simple.

Mere Christianity by rights should be called Mere Moralistic Theism, for salvation by grace never appears in the book, but it is the core of christian doctrine.

Lewis is dead, Jesus is not dead. THerefore I do not need C S Lewis

This was a great quote about who the person of Jesus Christ is. Did not have anything to do with Lewis' theology. Mere Christianity is a very good book in many aspects. I am reading an autobiography by a great Christian right now who was deeply influenced to give his life to Christ through reading that book. It may not show grace but it does point to Christ.

What I know is that there can't be an absolute god (everything everywhere forever) because that and the concept of being are contradictory. One must be other than what one percieves in order to be.
