  • The conductor is basically a musical general commanding a battalion of musical genius x___x

  • Thinking about it Mozart very likely never heard any of Requiem Mass seeing as he died before it was finished and how the composing process wasn't like how music is made today in that it was a thought process of what will make this as enjoyable as possible as apposed to constant testing. Not to say that classical artists never test their work in practice before it was finished jst that it wasn't nearly as common.

  • Does this video have sound for anyone else?

  • im cancelling my preorder

  • My dream is to play the requiem in an orchestra. im still practicing.

  • 14 people are justin bieber's fans

  • @alibaba86ish 14 people talk about justin bieber whie listening to mozart, just shut up.

  • just balèze !

  • I can Feel the peaceful in death

  • Why is this in a different key?

  • @btsears the whole piece doesn't stay in Dm for its entirety. The overall key of the piece is Dm. Certain sections will go to different keys. I think it is extremely rare for any piece of music to stay in one key, especially longer works like this one.

  • @pechorin1841 LOL - I'm a composer, so I get that. But this particular video is clearly C#m. I'm just wondering why that is. It would make sense if what we were listening to was significantly slower, but the tempo suggests that it was intended to be played in this key... or it's just a bad recording. Either way, it's not in Dm.

  • @btsears I notice that the trumpets don't have valves either. So I imagine that the lower key is an attempt at reconstructing concert pitch in Vienna at Mozart's time. We all know that A has not been 440 for long.

  • @btsears It's not in "C sharp minor", it's D minor played on instruments tuned at lower pitch. The pitch standard in the past varied by quite a lot - even as recently as the 1950s, different orchestras in different countries had different pitch standards. This is how it would have sounded in Mozart's day - and he would have said it was in D minor!

  • This is my favorite Requiem from Mozart. Then there's Rex Tremendae. I love Mozart's requiems in Amadeus. They just have this dark epic feel to them.

  • Ah, the magical ability of music to last through time when so much else fades and becomes lost in the indiscriminate shadow of human memory. It warms my heart. Thank you for your spectacular contributions, Mozart!

    Brilliant performance, by the way!

  • This is my favorite piece of the Requiem Mass. (Believe it or not, the first time I heard it was when the first few measures were used in the trailer for the movie "BATTLE ROYALE".

  • Dies irae, dies illa solvet saeclum in favilla, teste David cum Sybilla

Quantus tremor est futurus, quando judex est venturus, cuncta stricte

    discussurus!! SIN PALABRAS!!!

  • @ffandraknox i think most people cant speak latin. i must say i cant translate all of it bcuz its holiday XD

  • Had this played at my Father's funeral at his request (He wasn't religious, fyi).

Instead of playing it on loudspeaker, we hired an orchestra who knew him (They are VERY good at playing Mozart, maybe even as good as this one).

The others attending the funeral had no idea.

Needless to say, it was the most epic funeral ever.

  • @TheEvilEmporerBunny indeed thats on epic funeral, he would be proud

  • Only Mozart could make a Funeral an awesome spectacle to attend!

  • Humano, muito humano. Obra que mostra a grandeza infinita do ser humano, como criador e operador da inteligência humana.

  • who else says this conductor is absolutely fantastic!!!

  • @ketttr01 He's just randomly waving his hands around like a retard. Anybody can do that.

  • @fyourcouchnigga you're ignorant. The conductor makes the musical arrangements and trains the whole orchestra to play in sync. The conductor is like a movie director. The director helps actors with their emotions and how the movie should be filmed. So here, the conductor is basically directing the musicians. Without a conductor, this sort of performance can't happen.

  • @fyourcouchnigga Annoying little cunts are always annoying little cunts. Leave the things you don't know alone and gtfo the tube.

  • I LOKED THIS THE OF REQUIEM. I HAD THE HONOR & PRIVILEGE TO PERFORM AT CARNEGIE HALL BACK IN '91

  • They made this song their b tch! Amazing dynamics!!

  • Thank you soooo much for uploading this!!!

  • Lol. The Canibus song. haha. 2000 B.C

  • 13 people pissed themselves before watching this.

  • This one is in Db it sounds like, I don't have perfect pitch, but I was just listening to another recording this sounds a half step down. But then I think the Baroque tuning is a little lower? Or at least the Harpsicord at my school was tuned to 420ish if I rember right.

  • @stiltonchees

It does sound a little flat doesn't it? I thought it was the recording technology, but I forgot to consider baroque tuning, so you may be onto something there.

  • I am a sucker for conductors....<333

  • @BillyGatesHabbo Idiot, this is a requiem mass written for catholic death mass.

  • This is proof that some people can create awesome music, nothing else.

  • @Aceod - And God knows why, every one of those people from Palestrina to Stravinsky was Christian

  • @FabioPBarbieri fuck off....just fuck off. if Mozart lived in the early Middle Ages you would probalby burn him alive or hang him because of his lifestyle and his talent. Mozart was as much christian as you an evolutionist. Just get you petty "God" and fuck off, seriously.

  • @PhillipPark90 It's an axiom that's been adapted to refer to satire as a whole. It basically means that, without clear indication, it is impossible to tell the difference between extremism and a parody of extremism.

  • @PhillipPark90 Keep Poe's Law in mind. This is merely a young man attempting to get himself some chuckles while passing the time.

  • @PhillipPark90 Say what you want, your comments are are still completely idiotic and your existence completely worthless.

  • @PhillipPark90 I'm a somewhat certain that said person is merely trolling, as evidenced by his profile and responses. You aren't likely to get anywhere with him.

  • @PhillipPark90 I see you don't get it. Atheists are not supposed to listen to anything that isn't promoting gay rights. It is against your religion. Your text doesn't have a point, you are just asking random questions in a pathetic attempt at proving your intelligence. You are the most insane bastard i have ever seen.

  • Why do the good videos attract such idiotic quarrels? Is it not possible to just enjoy the music without arguing?

  • @PhillipPark90 don't even bother. Youtube has become a free roaming ground for nazi propaganda. These sorry sob's don't even realize their day of wrath came 66 years ago

  • @PhillipPark90 Just stop it already, you are killing me.

  • @PhillipPark90 So you know how to use Google Translate, i'm impressed. You are still retarded though.

  • @PhillipPark90 I think you don't know what those lines mean, otherwise you wouldn't be pretending to enjoy this. I feel sorry for you.

  • @PhillipPark90 Keep typing, we could all use a good laugh.

  • @PhillipPark90 Yes, only Christians are allowed to listen to Mozart. You retards should be locked up in a mental institution.

  • @PhillipPark90 Your opinion doesn't matter. Atheists who listen to Mozart are retarded. Keep listening to your queer punk bands and leave good music for normal people.

  • Mozart had such a great and beautiful talent. I just can imagine how the people felt when listening this piece the first time. Big pressure for Süssmayr to finish it.

  • Hey whoever is arguing about god and such people have a right to freedom of speech and to express what ever religious views they have even if it is athieism that is their choice and if your going to tell them to shut up about it then move to Europe where they don't really care about maintaining rights!!!

  • Their performance doesn't give out the epic feeling.

  • I....I died.....BEAUTIFUL version of his Requiem. I got chills and my eyes teared~ Absolute perfection at its finest!

  • @PhillipPark90 again, my response was meant toward the negative comments regarding religion in classical music posts, not you specifically. as i stated, there are many examples of this if you look at the comment sections.

  • @PhillipPark90

"religious influence is prevalent throughout their works" i did not limit my statement to church mass renditions only or composers who perform church masses so i m still not sure what point you re trying to make here.

  • @PhillipPark90 when did i accuse you specifically of anything, since i could not even in the first place since you first responded to me. my post was a response to comments that are present here. why don t you look around and see if you can t notice what i m talking about? the religious prevalence just isn t in the masses. ever heard of don giovanni?

  • @PhillipPark90 you can comment on the music all you want. what you shouldn t do is tell people in a rendition of a catholic mass not to praise or mention their god in reference to the music or in general. it s retarded and common among atheist posters in classical videos on youtube. in regards to your "latin text" comment, i don t know what you re trying to get at. i suppose you re saying that what i said is obvious? i concede.

  • there s nothing more comical and pitiful than an atheist commenting on classical music. it kills them that all this beautiful music was created by men who ranged from observant believers to the deeply religious. and they were all inspired by their religion; it s prevalent thoughtout their work. accept it, get over it.

  • What an incredible composer. He goes from writing beautifully relaxing serenades all the way to writing powerful intense Requiems like this that makes you just feel amazing. He is a true genius and there will be no composer who can change music as he did!

  • Hunchaback of Notre Dame uses the words "dies irae" alot in it's soundtrack.

  • @BillyGatesHabbo Christfag? Go pop a pimple you teenage piece of shit! The world doesn't need another intolerant biggot so go lie on tracks and wait for another train to come by or at least learn to have some GOD DAMN respect towards those older than you (which is seemingly everyone who's gotten out of puberty).

  • @BillyGatesHabbo No, it is your sort that everybody's sick of. This is a piece written for a Catholic funeral mass so keep your ignorant and intolerant mouth shut.

  • @BillyGatesHabbo Because Mozart's requiem has nothing to do with Christianity.

God, what is wrong with people today?

  • @Gaaraguy13 ...IF.... Mozart wrote all of it...

  • @tegunn Well I'm sure he didn't, he was dead before it was finished. Still, I'd assume a piece written for a funeral MASS has some semblance of religious overtone.

  • Who would dislike this? This is my favorite movement of Mozart's Requiem! its an amazing piece of work!

  • @BillyGatesHabbo I didn't say that, MamaLuigisOVER9000 did....

  • @BillyGatesHabbo What are you...about two years old? I never said it proves God's existence. Grow up and do not post to me ever again.

  • @BillyGatesHabbo What are you talking about? I'm not overly religious but if you think religion or God had nothing to do with this, then you are nuts.

  • @BillyGatesHabbo What is it proof of then? Anything? Nothing?

  • This is proof that there is a god....

  • @MamaLuigisOVER9000 - THIS ATHEIST agrees. Proof indeed. +1 Mozart. It worked so well in Xmen 2 United movie intro.

  • I'm performing this at my school, and it's just a pleasure to be a part of.

    Mozart... you rock!

  • lovely interpretation

  • I'm really curious that 13 people who dislike this masterpiece???

  • Comment removed

  • Haha @jesseguitar I can't believe you think metal is better than this. Any pothead could sit in the gutter and write death metal crap that makes people lose their hearing. Mozart was a genius who wrote music that no one else could. He actually knew what he was doing when he wrote this masterpiece.

  • @2013Neptune Words of wisdom my friend!

  • STOP COMMENTING SHIT, YOUR SHITTY SHIT IS SHITTING MY MOZART EXPERIENCE

  • How could people go from this to Justin Bieber? I can't believe...

  • @ltschriscrucker To spite elitest people like you who have their head of their ass. Every fucking video just has to have Bieber comments, doesn't it? The hate is causing more commotion than from those who spread their love for him. STFU already!!!

  • @sbryant456 Justin Bieber lovers have nothing to do on Mozart video. Leave! F""king F"g

  • try playing machine gun !

  • MEtal is a term!!! meaning go all out... go agro!!!

  • @thesuperwillem

    mozart you faggot!!

  • jeden strzał, cipy cipy łał! :)

  • the lyrics are beautiful

  • What is this crap about metal being classical music of today? I hear it all the time. Are you people so stupid to believe that? I hear more classical influence in classic rock than anywhere else. Just take Beatles' work, for example albums such as Revolver, Sgt. Pepper's and the side 2 medley from Abbey Road LP. Not to mention Brian Wilson's work, namely Today, Pet Sounds and infamous Smile album.

  • @Dodo251 Heavy metal owns your ass.

  • @TenraiX No, classical music owns my ass.

  • @Dodo251

Fine, heavy metal kicks your ass, then.

  • @jessegguitar Ah shut your mouth, you don't know what you're talking about. Try refering to Leonard Bernstein and what he had to say about the Beatles when he placed them among the greatest art pieces of the last century, you ignoramus! I don't give a shit about those wack jobs you mentioned, nobody can top Beatles when it comes to lyricism, composition and innovation. Get educated.

  • @Dodo251 lol.. you sound like my grandma... old and stuck in history!!! get the f*ck out of here if you cant lend your hand!!! old ass!

  • @Dodo251 bull sh*t!!!! bull shi*!! jimi hendrix use the most imagination that any songwriter of the last century!! beatles? a team... hendrix?? solo!! which i dont even need to say... it is totally clear who put more time and creativity! hendrix is metal!!!

  • @inazuma3gou Haha...absolutely!

  • @inazuma3gou

    correct!

  • @inazuma3gou Don't even compare heavy metal crap with Mozart's genius. Ever!

  • @Dodo251

  • @Dodo251 you blow ArSS!

  • The power of Jesus? No, this is the power of GENIUS...

  • @MrWoofington no one said it was the power of jesus....

  • @SquabTV Please read the third and sixth comments directly below mine to see two people who said exactly that.

  • @MrWoofington

    amen :P

  • I am an atheist but this is absolutely wonderfull. No doubt.

  • @miguelmxdecarvalho it's nice to know that atheism does not lead to hearing loss.

  • @vaderdude727 Yeah, but we cant see very well and some of us grow horns at a young age.

  • @miguelmxdecarvalho What the flying fuck does being an atheist have anything to do with this?

  • I don't know I love this obviously, but I thing Verdi's is more to my personal taste, more hard, and impressiv, however this is extremely musical, and lyrical!

  • 12 persons listen shit music

  • I continue to be awestruck by Mozart's music. It's impossible to ever grow tired of listening to him. The music is beyond amazing.

  • @eclair9 I couldn't agree more. I have heard this piece more than a thousand times and it still blows my mind. Mozart is synonymous with Divinity.

  • @eclair9 His music touches your core... ok at least my core.

  • This is the music when Nightcrawler (X-Men 2) breaks into the white house.

  • @oracle2world Yeah, it was made for X-Men 2, by Mozart.

  • @Armitage01101 - no copyright hassles with Mozart ... you wonder why so much classical music ends up in cartoons of the 1950s?

  • @oracle2world Sure.

Also, I'd say people had taste once upon a time.

  • grande gardiner

  • i wood luv two sing this in coreass!

  • 1:25-1:40 most epic part of the song. Love how the strings sound. Just beautiful.

  • There is only one GREAT composer - MOZART..... the rest are just composers....

  • @CutlerBeckett90 Ohhh many might disagree with you. But thats your opinion

  • @Chaney547 You are right, thats my opinion but I think that most people, if you ask them about classical music will say MOZART... and thats enough :)

  • @CutlerBeckett90 fair enough I see your point

  • THE BEST OF THE BEST!.... the best music written ever!... amo la música de Mozart es la mejor composición de todo los tiempos y seguirá siendo así el rsto de nuestros dias....

  • epic to the fullest!

  • "Go ahead, mock me!"

  • @KORN745645

    lol!!!

  • Lol at the `It waz god´ XD

  • can someone explain to me why there are different versions of this song; when I type into my search bar "mozart requiem dies irae" I have upto three different versions of this song? Am I missing something here??

  • @JosephStrings

Dies Irae is from an old Latin hymn, so lots of composers used the words, just as lots of song writers used the words from the Latin mass and there are dozens of versions of songs for the parts of the mass and/ or requiem mass.

  • @JosephStrings lots of different musicians have recorded the works of mozart.
