Is it the lyrics or the melodies or both which you can't do?
I know for me that after four years of music theory, studies in form and counterpoint, etc in college all the magic was sapped out of my ability to write music. It took a long time before I was able sit down at a piano or strum a guitar and put something together.
@CrappyCartoons I've never been able to write music, even after going to Berklee - but it was after attending Berklee that I realized it's okay that I don't have that talent, because plenty of others do. I'm happy to give them the opportunity to express themselves through me! I'd love to hear what you've been able to write! I look at anyone that has written anything with sheer admiration :)
