producers decided to update the store to make it more realistic. They do everything for a reason on this show, not like other children's shows, with their cookie-cutter childrens nonsense. This show observes and updates the show to benefit each generation of children who watch

For everyone who has been criticizing this era of sesame street, it's not our opinion that matters. They research what to put on this show. Producers noticed that children's attention was lagging in the last 15 minutes of the show so they added a separate "mini-program" to keep their attention. It was not some big ploy just to give Elmo more screen time. And the yellow and black checkered store? The producers noticed that those old "soda-shop" type stores were disappearing from NYC fast, so the

omfg that's the best programme ever! watched it wen I was like three since then have a tmx elmo cookie toy am compared to bert have 12 t shirts and have my official faveourite programme of my little person life... aaw the days... (bout 12-10 years ago ((duno when it went away)) lol) (they shoood make a DVD of Evri episode becuz I may b 12 going on 13 but that's something however lame I would buy and watch every day... lol)

I also think Alan is cool but, I'm not sure why Mr. Handford was gone. I remember the last episode before Alan came was about Slimey returning back from the moon, and the next episode had Alan on the show without explaining why Mr. Handford was gone, and how Alan became the new Hooper's Store owner. On that episode with Alan, Big Bird was with his birdkeeteers in the beginning where he told the audience pointing to Alan from a distance saying "that's Alan, the new Hooper's Store owner).

Well, Mr. Handford--or Handfoot as Snuffy called him--did say that he was retired & only wanted some place where he could have peace and quiet, something he'd never get when on the Street (save at night).

Yeah, this is from that same episode. The Season 30 premire. First episode with Alan and Elmo's World, and the new pitiful looking sky Blue Hooper's store, that replaced the original with the yellow and black checkered front that had been there since day 1. I wish they would have at least explained where Mr. Handford went. I mean Mr. Hooper got an explination for his leaving, and so did David. So I wonder why they couldn't just give a quick explination of why Mr. Handford left?

Yes, I remember that black and yellow checkered wall under the window at Hooper's Store (probably Mr. Hooper, David, and Mr. Handford liked it but, Alan didn't, so he painted it blue). Also I agree, they should've explained why Mr. Handford wasn't the Hooper's Store owner anymore. I might be wrong and I know this is strange for me to say but, maybe Mr. Handford got fired from the show, and the directors and producers didn't want anyone on the show to say he's fired or to make a lie about him.

Elmo's World...don't get me started. It's utter garbage, no question. It's unfunny and Elmo and Mr. Noodle make it all the more worse.

Much as we tall folks hate it, what ultimately matters is that the short folks love it. And it did win back a large bite of the viewership that Sesame Street had lost during the '90s (to new, younger-aimed competition like Barney and Blue's Clues).
