  • Your eyes look like you should be a lizard....

  • Yummy

  • First, I love that the outside of your slow cooker is as dirty and "well used" as mine! But what exactly is the "bacon" you used? It looked more like ham.

  • @rzaranko Australian Bacon is slightly different to what you guys call "bacon" - ours is closer to ham. It's usually served thicker and less crispy here. Feel free to use some diced ham instead ;)

  • Funny how you can't pronounce "Worcestershire" in Worcestershire Sauce. LOL

  • Looks awesome I can't wait to try it :-)

  • I'm trying this right now. I know nothing about cooking, so... and a problem is i'm in China. I shopped for everything today but couldn't find the worcestershire sauce and I got not clue what beef stock is, so I just used water instead.. and the only beef they had was a little cooked. Hope this comes out alright

  • @kentoakowen Beef stock or Beef broth is flavoured water that is used for soups, sauces, stews etc. So if you use water instead, make sure to add spices like salt and pepper, herbs, seasoning, etc....Hope your dish worked iut well.

  • @kentoakowen did it ever come out alright? lol

  • @Chazton1 yes it did! I found there's no need for beefstock. I threw in some spicey sauce, which was pretty good. It came out a little sweet. Just between me and you, and I guess everyone else on youtube... I've cooked it twice, and both times it gives me HORRIBLE gas. HAHA. Good thing I live alone.

  • @kentoakowen nice what are some of your favorites that you cook with a slow cooker. Favorite mixtures etc

  • @Chazton1 oh man.. This is my one and only thing I can cook. Wish I could cook more, but I don't know what to do.

  • @kentoakowen have you tried any programs?

I used to do that and they helped alot with me. It looks so easy to just follow instructions but its not that easy lol

  • I think i'll cook me up some dead cow today! It'll go perfect with some ice cold beer and the NFL playoffs!!

  • What about using a vegetable stock? if so how many cubes would you say, with how much water?

  • Blood ehhhhhhhhhhh

  • @aliazxz

BLOOD IS THE LIFE !...Buzz off kid.

  • any reason why you didn't brown th meat before putting it in?

    Adds much more flavour!

  • @MellKerrigan I find that when you slow cook meat in this way, browning the meat tends to make the meat a little tougher. For this recipe, the meat is incredibly tender and melts in your mouth when not browned ;)

  • @OnePotChefShow can you use chicken instead of beef?

  • @narutohinataashgaara Absolutely ;)

  • This looks great!!! More slow cooker recipes please.... perhaps pulled pork or chicken stew.

  • I did this recipe with one alteration: instead of tomato paste I used half a jar of leftover tomato pasta. Thank you for this recipe. It was easy and delicious

  • thanks for this- i am going to make this tomorrow, its getting cold here now (Canada) so its time to get out the slow cooker, thanks again, :)))

  • I'm cooking this now according to your recipe ingredients, except I quartered a 2 lb roast, and seared it, like I normally do when I make pot roast, cuz I usually make this to cook through the day when we're away (5-6 hrs high, or up to 10 hrs on low), and I use whole potatoes because they dissolve if cut up. Does cutting up meat and reducing time prevent veggies from being mush while meat can be tender? Seem I have to sacrifice tender meat or non-mushy vegs whenever I make pot roast. :(

  • Looks awesome, I'm going to give it a try. One question, is it corn flour or corn starch that you used? Just asking because sometimes here in America we use different terminology. Thanks!

  • @toddweller Cornflour and Corn Starch are different names for the same product ;)

  • good stuff

  • I absolutely love your videos! I'm a single gal living alone and I don't know how to cook, so the one pot and slow cooker recipes really help me out a lot! you also have beautiful eyes. just saying. :)

  • Dude, I LOVE your recipes! You're my favorite youtube chef. Please, never stop what you're doing! I made this tonight and it was absolutely delicious.

  • i watched dthis vidoe just because i love austrailain accents

  • Have you considered doing radio/commercial work. You have an excellent deep voice.

  • Looks divine. I make something very similar to this, but I add a cup and a half ( less or more according to taste) of frozen peas in the last half hour of cooking time. It makes the dish pop visually and I just happen to love peas. Some fresh parsely would do the same. Thanks David. Another winning, easy recipe and the slow cooker does the work.:o)

  • Nice recipe ,thanks .I yes bought a chefsmark, slow cooker .One of the best recipe .

  • Can you make a pube sandwich so the disliker can be happy please. He obviously doesn't like good food

  • @OnePotChefShow Alright. Thank you. I asked cause I don't have beef stock in my kitchen at the moment and I'm making this for my Aunt for her birthday even though it was yesterday. I bet she will love it, oh and the tomato paste can I use ketchup? And do I have to use the worchestershire sauce? Can I substitute it with something else?

  • Water*

  • can I substiute the beef stock with Warner or chicken stock/broth?

  • @TheKawaiiYukiChan You can use chicken stock, but since this is a beef dish, beef stock would be better ;)

  • @OnePotChefShow Hey mr one pot chef! Lovely recipe,I made it for my mum for mother's day she loved it and ask for more! P.S that red liquid from the beef is not really blood ,it's the red pigment from the beef which is rich in protein :) Cheers!

  • I love your accent! :DDD

  • What litre capacity is your slow cooker? I just bought a Russell Hobbs one at 3.5L so is that big enough?

  • @JCRocky5 My one is a 5.5 litre slow cooker, but a 3.5L should be fine. Just reduce the ingredients by half ;)

  • @JCRocky5 i have the same one! $25 from Coles...

  • Everyone should have one of these... along with a good steamer, so much healthier, so delicious & so money saving when the calculation costs of energy & food prices are added up over a year of using it. They make delicious soups & casseroles due to the gentle slow cooking method & cheaper cuts of meat are ideal to be used in it and saves a lot of money on energy costs, when calculated over a week, month or year.

  • do you have to use tomatoes paste? How many hours did you cook that for?

  • do you have to use tomatoes paste?

  • This kinda looks like curry xD which reminds me...MAKE A CURRY VIDEO PLEASE!

  • can we not put the blood in?

  • @junjie01

It wouldn't matter. Beef has blood in it already...

  • Super video, but i have a query...

I always thought the chunky veggies had to be on the bottom 'layer' and the meat on the top? As the veg takes longer than the meat.

In the vid, you mix it up. Does it still cook evenly?

    Thanks

  • @dextersdope As long as the vegetables are evenly chopped up, there won't be an issue ;)

  • @dextersdope lol meat takes longer than veggies to cook.

  • I need a slow cooker! lol. Quick cuestion, to make the sauce thicker can I use corn starch? I dont know if maybe what you call corn flour it's what we call corn starch, cause we use corn flour for many things but when it comes to making a sauce thicker we use the starch (not the same here =P hehe)

  • @anaw1188 Corn Flour is what we call Corn Starch in Australia - it's exactly the same ;)

  • this looks great thanks - such simple ingredients aswell, im going to give this a go

  • just threw this together cant wait till tmo!!

  • KEEP MAKEING VIDEOS

    PLZ

  • Very easy, thx for the recipe ;)

  • I tried it a couple of days ago, I noticed something, I used some more tomato and it turned out very tasty. I'm used to "seal" the meat before boilng it, so this is much more easy, and delicious too. Thank you.

  • This looks so good, be great for today's lunch!

  • A tin of tomatoes would just top all those ingredients off! :) Yumy

  • Dave, you are the food Jesus!

Your recipes are like angels ;D

  • OMG! After seeing this I went down the street and bought a slow cooker!! Ahaha, maing this tomorrow which I am really looking forward to! Keep up the good work. (loving your daily vlogs by the way.. look forward to them and laugh in every one!)

  • i am sooooo getting a slow cooker after watching this!!!! oh and the bowl that u had ur onions in looks identical to the one at my bf's place lol (altho he only has one cuz we are so clumpsy) lol

  • That was VERY inspiring ... Thanks I've added you to my Playlist I liked it so much

  • is it possible to use an alternative for meat? (vegan)

  • *REQUEST****

can u show us how to make donuts?

  • Everytime I watch your videos I'm feeling really happy and inspired :D

  • That looks good!

  • Sounds like a nice American Beef Stew in metric. I love it. ;o)

  • Wish we could have seen it plated up.....The dish looked thinner than I would like...Looks and sounds tasty though. How much will this thicken as it cools? Cheers

  • Looks enticing!! Thx for this video.

  • What can you use instead of tomatoe paste eg canned tomatoes and what can i use instead of cornflower

  • Well that was a more detailed (longer) introduction to your video, I thought.

And then I wondered how many "takes" it took to get it word perfect.

I would be stuffing up every sentence. The great thing with a beef casserole is that you can vary the recipe so many different ways. I would have added red wine, golden syrup and kidneys.

  • Yum! I like the bacon idea, but I think I will use a chirozo sausage instead... YUM! Keep up the great vids mate. :)

  • @fyshy1 Choritzo would be lovely, let me know how it turns out ;)

  • hello david you are the best

i make that recipe here in portugal

    we love it, on winter

you dont want to come here in vacasions ? i give you home

and you cook for us lolololol (just kidding)

    i miss your devil deserts

    kisskiss

  • What are the advantages of a slow cooker?

  • @pointeskatecybunny Meat is cooked to perfection, making it tender and succulent every time. It's also really convenient compared to slaving over a hot stove.

  • @OnePotChefShow Thx:)

Could you a dish using a steam cooker?

  • Mhhhh. Looks good. Good for wintertime in Australia :D

  • I just got to get a slow cooker! As always, looks delicious!!=D

  • @Ffojt It'll be the best investment you'll ever make - I promise!

  • @OnePotChefShow

Only if they take the time to use it. I love the slow cooker too but I know so many people that only use theirs to keep chili warm.

  • my favorite kind of slowcooker meal!

  • @potion52 Yeah, it so easy to throw together - and maximum flavour for minimum effort :)

  • YUMMMM this look sooooo good. Thanks for sharing this mate it is the perfect winter comfort food indeed :DDD

  • @ANIMEGIRL385 Very warming and very yummy!

  • could i throw in some cabage instead of the carrots?

  • @flyerdude02 Sure - you can add any vegetables you like ;)

  • made me hungry! yummy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @riggsdizon Go make some now :P

  • When I see one of your cooking videos in my subscriptions it's like christmas morning!

  • @MMEggman Christmas at your place sounds creepy if my cooking videos remind you of that!!!

  • that looks so yummm! well done, one pot chef! :)

  • @joycevreal Thank you - I'm glad you liked my video :)

  • it's winter, there, right? Perfect Winter dish :-) We got a crock pot for the apartment last winter to make chili and stew (elk and beef).

    ~Trav

  • @sivartis Yes, it is winter here. Elk and beef sounds delicious ;)

  • The beef casserole looks really good I am anxious to try it when winter comes about,to hot right now since we are in mid summer, you always make everything look easy!sweetone51

  • @Sweetone51 Thanks - glad you liked it :)

  • Looks yummy! xD I can already taste it lol

Do you think you can do a recipe video on something chilly? Like smoothies! :D That'd be great :)

  • @blinkythe1 Might do some smoothies later in the year - it's too cold at the moment!

  • That looks great...nice job!!!

  • @TheVittleVlog Thanks - glad you liked it :)

  • Cornflour... why didnt I think of that?? Great idea! I always remove the sauce at the end of cooking time and reduce it in a pan on the stove top. (which annoys me), not any more. Thanks for that tip!

  • @imtoohungry05 You're welcome - glad you liked the video :)

  • Maybe ill try this instead of buying the packets of dry mix stuff.

  • @kegs666 Much better than the packet mixes :)

  • No offence to him but his "See ya later" 's sound very perverted...

  • @HammyLover55 It's only perverted if I actually do see you later ;)

  • @HammyLover55 HAHAHAAHAHA

  • i remember when you didn't chop onions ;) good to see you've evolved!! heh heh...

  • @kcsinify I still hate it, but I discovered that if you wear sunglasses while chopping the onions - you don't get tears and stinging eyes :)

  • A minor suggestion: It would probably be better to fry the onions beforehand.

Thank you for the recipe my friend.

  • @ZivEstVeritas You can do that if you like, either way it's tasty ;)

  • yum. for extra flavor, you could dredge those beef bits in flour seasoned with salt and pepper, then sear them in a skillet with some hot oil... THEN toss them in your pot and oooooh my... what flavor that adds... (espesh if you would sear a little bacon with the beef....) oooh now I have to get the crockpot out...

    Love your recipes!

  • @TZ2OurLittleDogToo All good tips - I usually do all of that when making a casserole, I just wanted to present an easy version. Now I'm hungry again LOL!!!

  • @anotherclicheddesign Thanks - I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

  • Comment removed

  • @MisaSoup7 Huh?!?!

  • you cant 'rate' videos anymore :P but thumbs up it is ^^

  • @sourav777 That sounds like rating to me ;)

  • this is lovely, after your winter veg soup i bought a slow cooker, so i can use it again now,

    lynda.

  • @madlynda Your slow cooker is a great investment. It'll quickly become your favourite kitchen item :)

  • @onepotchef

could u make some more veggie (non meat) recipes?? im veggie and i love your show but could you make some more veggie??

    thx

  • @lovehorrormovies10 I've done a few vegetable recipes already, but to be honest - I'm not a big fan of Vegetarian cooking. It's just not my thing ;)

  • @OnePotChefShow well thanks anyway :)

    keep up the good work

  • Yummy!! Looks fabulous!! Saved in my favorites to try it out sometime :)

  • @Llzdd Let me know what you think of it when you try the recipe out :)

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW I wish I live in the same house XD

  • @lllHanzolll You wouldn't like it - think of all the dishes that would need washing!

  • @OnePotChefShow nah thats alright! I dont mind washing dishes XD

  • This looks yummo! Love Casserole!!! So hungry now aswell :(!

  • @WarcraftAzraman Glad you liked it :)
