Just returned from a week in the Brecon Beacons and picked up four bottles of the "Haf" and four of the "Braf" at the local store in Talybont on Usk. Have to say that both are exceptional beers. Wales is blessed with some superb real ale brewers and it seems Tomos Watkins is one of them! Now where do I get my tee shirt? (grin)
@gardencoaster I think the brewery sell the t-shirts on the website :) Im glad you liked the Tomos Watkin beers, if you ever get a chance to try their Cwrw Gaeaf give that a go to, its an awsome dark beer, cheers
As i am a dialysis patient i have a restricted fluid allowance but i must admit i do have a pation for real ale so i allow myself a small tipple every now and then, so i will have try out your ale.
@ChadzBeerReviews Hello Chad we have our own language here in Wales, i dont speak it myself, but its massively popular now most kids here speak it, its one of the oldest languages in Europe!! Chad im really interested to know what your top 10 beers of all time are, enter the blog on my website. Cheers!!
I got your email about listing my fave top ten ales and all I can say is that Hobgolin the canned version is all I drink these days because it's just unique. Sure, there are many, many more dark ales with tons more complexity and flavour but most of those ales are so strong that after 1 or 2 of them, you just cant handle any more. Cangoblin is easy to drink and very sessionable for a dark ale and the after taste is of a pine tree woodland. INCREDIBLE!!!
@TheMrAdax Oh sorry just got this message! wasnt notified in my inbox i would have replied earlier!!, Im definatly going to review the can and the bottle at the same time, sorry it is taking so long will get round to it soon, and im going to do a Mann's split soon!! Cheers!!
That sounds like an EXCELLENT warm weather session pint, Simon. And I just LOVE that Welsh name that has no vowels, only consonants LOL. Just curious, are there any big higher-alcohol brews produced in Wales? My impression is that the Welsh seem to like to stick to milder brews than, say, the Scots (have you ever tried Skullsplitter from Orkney?). Cheers!
@beerbrain420 Oh i cooled it right down, really nice Lemony Zesty taste with a good Hop finish, Perhaps there is another gap in the market for me Glen haha, i should brew a strong Welsh Bottled Conditioned Ale and call it the "Horny Wench" and have a picture of a trumpet and a spanner on the bottle, haha what do you think the ABV should be 7% whey hey, Cheers Glen!!
@realaleguide HAHAHAHAH!! Simon, that is a BLOODY good idea!! I would go out to imbibe in the "Horny Wench" in a second! And yes, 7% ABV sounds perfect for such a brew. Strong and bold, but not enough to knock you unconscious after just one brew! Maybe two.......or possibly three. LOL
@TheMasterOfHoppets Did you go to that rock festival mate? how was it? Weather seems to get worse each year doesnt it!! Must be all that melting ice in the poles!! Cheers Mate!!
@realaleguide Yeah i went to the Heavy Metal festival in Germany, and the weather was awsome, but back in Denmark its crap. It was amazing im deffinetly going next year. You should check out my review from the festival of the 5.0 Original Pils beer, i uploaded it yesterday. Cheers mate!
On day I will fly over and try oute some of the beers you have shown us ;) Aspeshaly thous with a chocolate taste. Dont think we have thouse here in Norway :P
@BeerGeekNation I have opened up a website, would like to talk to you about it one day, the plan is to review the beer then TRY and sell it online, I have since found out though that UK beer sent to the USA needs to be re labelled for licence purposes, so might be tough getting it off the ground, Cheers Chris!!

I plan to review a beer, then if someone like yourself wants one, go to my website therealaleguide and order it, exciting hey, its far from working at the moment but im working on it every day.
