I was in the 9th friggin grade! Eight-tracks and vinyl! Now my GRANDKIDs are in grade school. And this just keeps getting better, and better, and better...
What's the different bet ween this Band and artist and these new artist and band?
Music and message of Pink Floyd is about Humanity and Compassion. It is not about money and fame. It is not about bullshitting young people and selling their craps as their products- album and songs-. That's why this generation is going the wrong way. Because they are all so empty and so shallow. They have lost their sense of understanding and compassion.
@Suzanne8029 I'm part of this generation being born in 1990, however, I have true appreciation for the great bands like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, just to name a few.
You hit the nail on the head Suzanne...I was lucky enough to see them twice. Gilmour and co. are the everyman that we all should be...kisses to you on your insight...
Nah, the wars wouldn't stop. They never stop. Too much money to be made. (Just ask Halliburton.) We lost our old enemies, the Nazis which were then replaced by the communists which were then replaced by the terrorists. When you think about it, it's ironic. The terrorists gave us a few hours of terror 10 or so years ago, and then our own government ever since continues to terrorize us.
I grew up watching this concert on VHS with my dad. We would watch it like at least once a month, lol. This was the one experience that really said: "This is music, and this is what's possible with it." Pink Floyd really has shaped me to the musician I am today.
@pathsounds maybe even better stated as a "glimpse into the possibility of music" as I definitely developed even more of an appreciation as I played in the wind ensemble in high school and college.
@MyBestBUDDYIsAGoat its called a boner i know.....i have one listening to flyod ......WTF i swore i had my pants on when i started watching this video
What an amazing song - only Pink Floyd could write something this beautiful. I'd love it if you guys checked out my Brooklyn based hip-hop/dub project called BODHIKIN. It was inspired by bands like Pink Floyd, among many others. Praise and love!
this will always be one of my very favorites of theirs...that sax..omg..love it...unbelievable recording for the 70's...interesting the difference of opinions on the meaning...a deep, and powerful song...so glad it's as long as it is..can't get enough..
this song is like walking under water ..I remember when i heard this LP for first time, I could only return to reality when the needle jump at the end of the vinyl
Think about it man, this song is more than 30 years old! I was a young man when I first heard it. I liked it then, I still like it now, and my kids like it too!! Nobody can copycat this beautiful music, it brings to life so many good memories.
It's great to read the posts here that talk about what vinyl LPs were like. One of the things I miss most is having a "Side 2". Bands used these breaks to introduce or develop other themes, etc. Once in a while you'd even get a "Side 3" and "Side 4". The other thing was having a really big LP in your hands and the artwork was so great, it was more important to the listener than it is now. I miss the booklets you'd occasionally get as well, with great pictures and info on the band inside and more
Must be cool having this as a signature song.... like floating to the end of the universe and back. Then drifting past the earth like "oh....hey, earth!...."
Simply amazing that my Youtube friends made this and all the Gilmour True HD videos available. Just blows me away that the Pink Floyd concerts I seen in the 90's are here on Youtube. Smiles from MN and a huge Thank You!
I don't see how on the world anything could de somehow better than this .. There is no word to describe this. The most unbelievable thing about it is that it's not even complicated, simple chords progression, no huge guitar solos or anything incredibly complex. But nobody could perform something as huge as this live. I guess that's what Pink Floyd is about..
If music was designed to touch human soul, Pink Floyd music liberated it.
At times it becomes a rocket, heavy current on high seas, space ship in turbulence or lily fields in spring breeze but never a task to be performed by any other earthly being.
@GietjeM Omgosh don't even leave it another day - as a person who watches that DVD almost daily I can only beg of you that you buy it, so your life may improve 100% from having it!

So beautiful...I don't think there's a word to explain how I feel when I listen to this song (even though I'm not english lol, but I think it in my native language as well). It is just...Us and Them...it gives me the creeps meanwhile it makes me leave the ground...awesome.
@JackyRowe On the original vinyl it is track F on Side 2, it is the seventh track because:
Side 1 has A(I) Speak to Me and A(II) Breathe in the Air tracked separately so when the tracks are listed as numbers it is listed as the seventh.
