In the advanced levels of Smash, you GRAB edges. To be precise, in Melee if you do that and digest a kill out of it, you get 2500 points per "EDGEHOG" kill. It's not rare AT ALL to see people "steal edges". Especially against tether recovery characters (Ivysaur, Pikmin, ZSS, Link's and Samus's chain) At the same time, they steal edges too.

pikmin thing is a tether recovery, like any other tether, it grabs the edge, also, if somebody is on the ledge already, it will fail.

same thing applies if the person is hanging from a tether recovery and the other person tries to grab the edge, it wont work

Looks like the game has evolved into a constant battle of spacing. Fun to play, but I must say not as entertaining to watch as the intense Melee matches. Neat stuff with the gliding, though.

when i said weak i meant what seemed to be weak forward smash attack and forward+a and that his power is dependent on pikmin type. when i said slow i meant slow movement and having to constantly get new pikmin out and round them. when i said poor recovery i meant poor recovery. cos dsf used tether all the time i assumed that that was his best recovery, noting that he got edg hoged a lot. instead of sayin somet stupid cant u just tell me more about him like the other guys. btw thanks jb and gzle.

yea olimar is really good; strong attacks and if the pickmin are used right, 100% in like 7 seconds. in the right hands he is very scary

It is true. He is kind of slow, and his Pikmin Chain is not the best recovery method.

However, you are totally wrong about him being weak. He has some of the most powerful attacks in the game. His grabs have very long range, relative to other characters. His smashes are incredibly powerful. And his aerial attacks are all good.

Search "echo vs metaknight" to see a very good Olimar-user in action.
