@3473firewolf One issue with your sociological discussion: the societies that both Q and Discord interfered with still have a functional degree of chaos. A society of perfect order is very very VERY different from what the ponies live in. They were hardly spiraling towards any sort of disaster. Discord's interference was uneccesary for that purpose.

As for protecting himself, who can say? From what we know, he earned what he got, and he doesn't appear to have learned any lesson from it.

@Madcat6204 I think of it this way: The Continuum finally got so sick of Q that they flung him so far away from everything Star Trekkish that he ended up in Equestria. It was their ultimate punishment, you see...but you can't change Q nature, so he's still doing what he....does.

But really, I don't think we can take the whole thing too seriously, lest we take all the fun out of it. ;)

I like Discord, I'm angry with him for cheating but Q did the same and his reason was the same it needed to be done. Q was always testing the possibilities of humans Discord is trying to save himself from destruction as well he should, complete Order in a society is a threat to that society there must always be a little chaos something must be out of tune or else everything becomes the same and the society winds up much like (continued in next comment)

While I do agree that Discord is a much more malicious character than Q ever was, let's take into account that if Q had been defeated and held captive in stone for any length of time by mere mortals, he probably would have thrown out all previous rules and faint morals he might have and play dirty to get back at them. Either way, powers and general playful temperament remain the same between them.

For those confused at the refference: Q from Star Trek The Next Generation, and Discord from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic not only share similar abilities and temperments towards mere mortals, but have the same actor.

@K9TheFirst1 Similar temperments and abilities, yes, but different motivations. Q, from what I've gathered, somewhat wants the mortals to win; he'll put them through their paces, but there is always a way to "beat" him. Discord, on the other hand, is just a bully; he creates a pretense of a game, but has no intention of conceding defeat (otherwise he wouldn't have "cheated" with turning Fluttershy).
