Thanks everyone for the nice comments & ratings everyone! Surfandsand, It is indeed an SS-10, with a washcloth stuffed between the head up near the neck to mellow out the tone a bit. I try to play as close to the neck as I can, too - I really would like to get the neck scooped. It's got a great tone over the neck, but there's just not quite enough thumb clearance.
