About a year before he died I went backstage at the Flynn Theater, Burlington, VT and met Stephane Grappelli. I was reduced to a babbling fool in his presence but, although exhausted, he did sign my copy of the DRG Swing Eddie South / Django Reinhardt / Stephane Grappell(y)i / Michel Warlop LP. He had never seen one of the photos on the sleeve. It showed he and Django in their early days. I shall always treasure it.
