Hey Jerimiah! I met up with you back in 04/05. we looked at the DMC that was sunk in TX and the owner wanted WAY too much for it! I own the KITT replicar and was driving my T/A. I got my DMC and drive it daily too. Fun car to drive and own.
@iOutatime this bitch definitely isn't "vintage". This is one of the original 1981 DeLoreans, with modern upgrades such as my cooling fans, all new relays, new exhaust, stainless fuel lines, stainless coolant bottle, stainless auto shifter unit - ALL sorts of new things. Nothing "performance" wise - if I wanted to go fast, I'd buy a Corvette and be another 1 of 150,000,000 that own one
I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old PRV Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps EFi and tank clean and rustfree
@Homers69charger Some people painted them to cover up dents and scratches, because it's easier to paint stainless steel than repair. Every once in awhile I see one for sale on E-bay that's been painted. I just shake my head. Paint doesn't stick very well to stainless and besides isn't one of the main features of the Delorean is the stainless finish?
@sexyboi142 lol i love how you just totally pulled that out of your ass ahahah! deloreans only got to 170hp. and with catalyctic converters forced to be put on in the states the car only got 140hp. read up on stuff don't just make up shit. it's okay that you like the car but don't try to make the delorean something it's not
yea in the states it did only recieve 130hp due to bad economy and fuel shortages but the original motor designed for this car produced if not 200+ hp it was damn close to it but delorean had to settle for the gay ass 130hp PRV motor
their original goal was 200hp but they settled on 170hp. the original engine was 170hp they never made an engine that was 200hp+. and even if they did thats still not fast. its a cool car and this is just my opinion i wouldn't get it because its slow. 260hp+ is fast for me. we all have different priorities
hey i love the delorean and nice car so i found out the windows come down so where is the place u put the gas in at i dont see the place anywhere on the car
really really cool. i have a cool 80's car, but not nearly as cool as your delorean. deloreans are sick ass cars. i have a 89 camaro with a 350 tbi swap. your car is sweet/
To those of you that have requested videos, I have had RLS (Real Life Syndrome). To be honest Jack, I didnt see your request til this week when I made the 1st msg - it was nothing personal. Working on my electrical engineer degree and getting accepted into the officers program for the US Air Force has been a strain to say the least. I'll make the video when I have time. Now that I gor someone special in my life, she can help :P.
I think people are excited to see *any* videos of a DeLorean in action as it's so rare. Especially in this country (I'm from the UK and I've seen one in my lifetime. 17 years ago).
Make them in your own time rather than bowing to YT requests - genuine enthusiasts will only be more glad to see the end result.
@DeLorean03 OK. I understand you are very busy, but it has been about 2 years now. Still waiting on that test drive video. (I can't believe I havent forgotten. lmao)
@jackmitchell123 heh heh heh.....now I WILL make one...even though there are like 20 of them on youtube - you seem to have stuck to me about it......all right....
Hey everyone. My engineering courses right now are very busy. I will try to make another video as requested by Robbo4264. The average MPG varies depending on manual or automatic. Manual - 25-30 MPG; automatic - 16-25 MPG. Bought it in 2003 for $10k - put another $20k or so into it getting it roadworthy - almost all my own work - almost no shop labor whatsoever. Found it in a barn where someone was collecting cars but not driving them. Couldn't let it go to waste =).
Got a couple of questions. How is the gas mileage and how is the view while looking back? Can you easily see out the back or does the trunk make it harder to see. If you could maybe another video just quick showcasing the rear view. Just a suggestion. Nicely done and way to keep the car clean!
Rear visibility isn't that great due to the rear deck slats. It's better than a Lamborghini Countach though. The new Deloreans have rear cameras installed to help remedy the problem. Boss and Mach-1 Mustangs had the same issue. You can use regular gas in a standard Delorean. If you modify the engine with a turbo or a Stage 2 upgrade then you have to use premium.
i love deloreans so much i hope a good dictor do a john z delorean movie for the therthers sorry for bad spelling and i think if done right you can good film like back in the days when he worked for gm held make the pontica gto how starded his own bussines in irealand back in 1970s in a bad time sting oprtion the deal gone bad how his car the delorean made a great film back to the future 1985-1990 and before he died he made sctaches of new delorean and .........
Awesome video! Nice car. I've never owned a DeLorean of any kind, and I'll probably never will. But I've always admired the car for obvious reasons. I love the sound of the engine. How about going for a drive?
actually with a manual you can take the car to DMC Houston and there is an opening in the chassis and they can do something with it to turn it into an automatic.
I can relate. I was dating this really cool girl, and then a now-good friend of mine had just moved in, and I was hanging with my new friend more and she got pissed at me. I'm still good friends with that same guy though, lol.
I'm in college working on my electrical engineer degree. I don't have time or the money for such a awesome project. I'd love to do that, but right now, I'm just happy and proud to own a DeLorean being in college.
I drive it about 3-4 days. I could drive it everyday, or I can drive it once a month. This car is just as good as a Nissan or a Honda once properly restored. I wouldn't recommend it ALL the time though - parts on exotics do tend to break more quickly - law of automotive world =P.
I bought it from a private collector in Cleveland back in 2003. I paid only $10k for it, but I easily sunk another $15 (THOUSAND ..not $1500) into it to really get it road worthy again. All in all - I've prolly dropped a total of $30k into it. $10k for the car, roughly $15k to get it running and dailt driver like, than $5000 over the next 5 years to customize it and personalize it.
The best car ever! a true work of automotive art. I was really excited when DMC Texas announced they would be building new cars. I'm gonna buy one someday!
That is one of the most puzzling questions asked. To be perfectly honest, I have no idea. It was discussed thoroughly at DMCTalk Forums, but to be honest with you I can't remember the one "answer" they all came up with \_O_/.
Does the car have a flux capassitor?,lol..I would put a fake one(of course) for a good laugh.....you could of been like "and here we got a flux capassitor" and went on like nothing happend.
Great vid. Thanks for showing us the interior. As you said, not many people do that. I do have two questions. Just how wide / deep is the DeLoreans front trunk? And just how is the gas mileage?
Gas mileage for a auto:16-22, manual: 22-30 (depends on who you ask).
As for the trunk, it's shaped kind of like a wedge, so near the windshield it's very deep and it gets more narrow the closer you get to the headlights.
The whine is probably the fuel pump or the electrical system relays before I turn the car over. Notice I didn't turn the key immediately - I'm trying to keep the fuel pump from being strained as it is a mechanical K-Jetronic fuel injection system. It's been so long since I watched this video I can't remember :P. My audio driver's are shot on my computer so I can't watch it and tell you yet :P.
I went to the delorean place near me and asked them about the whine, He said it was just the buzzer the Delorean makes when it starts up, just like any other car. He also says they provide free removal of the buzzer. anyway, you are the lickiest man on earth to be able to own that car. I want one so bad!
I just came across a DeLorean for $13,000 dollars..... if i could sell my 66' Thunderbird for 7k or more in the next couple of days.... id buy the DeLorean... lol XD
i live in florida...winterhaven florida to be specific.and in a small personaly owned car lot there is a delorean, i saw it and its been there awhile. i dont know how much it is..how much do they normaly go for now?
Depending on the condition of the car, it could sell anywhere from $6000-$60,000+.
but usualy, a DeLorean in good running condidtion, minor or no body dammage, nice interior, A/C and radio works, and low or moderly low mileage (55k miles or less) would sell for about $12,000-$26,000 dollars
I sat in a Delorean when I was 11. It belonged to a friend of ours. He let me sit in it with the doors closed. Ever since then I knew I had to have one. Our friend passed away a few years ago, but his wife still has the car. She said they're going to fix it up and keep it. If they ever change their mind I'll buy it! I alwais though they were beautiful cool cars. I'm writing a book on the Delorean called "88 mph".
Awesome car, man. Awesome! I'm only several tens of thousands of dollars away from getting mine! O_o If you do a new video, can you show how much room is in the "trunk?" I've never seen that side open before. I love the instrument cluster, too! Those buttons are retro and *awesome*. You bought yours used, right? Not refurbished?
Yes, I did buy mine used back in 2003. What a project to say the least, but I made some lifelong friends and learned ALOT about what is to alot of people a mysterious car. My car is with my bestfriend right now in his shop - someone rear'd it in a parking lot, and I'll be getting it back end of August. When I get it back, I will definitely do the trunk shots for you! Don't worry - the damage is VERY minimal - you wouldnt know it got hit if I told you. Lil' car is a tank!
Awesome! Good to hear it's alright, too. Although a car as cool as that is bound to be a tank. =P I have a few model DeLoreans but you know you can't really judge the size of the trunk from a 1:32 or 1:16 scale car. Plus, who knows how accurate the models are! Looking forward to the video!
Thank you =D! I had a Pioneer DEH-4700MP in there but it died so I up'd it to the 5800 model. Looks great with the A/C console! Thank you for your compliments!
Um - what a unique question. Probably just how I talk. Like some people use their hands to speak while they talk and others don't look people in the eye, and others pause long or short before they speak - it's just something I do.
heheh sure I will! I actually have made videos like that befre, but I always recorded over them. I will TRY to do that though for you pretty soon. You want a "still" shot on the dash, or you want me to hold the camera while i drive? Let me know!
actually what you could do if you have a friend that wouldnt mind a ride in a DeLorean that has a decent hand have them record while you drive so you can talk but you wont be so distracted that you damage the car
oh and by the way IT IS EXOTIC by almost evverybodys standards BUT MOSTLY MINE
hey bud :). I will do that soon - unfortunately someone rear-ended it in a parking lot so it's with my best friend in his body shop. He owns a DeLorean too - and he knows what he's doing. I will have the car back around the end of August. Don't worry everyone - the damage is EXTREMELY minimal
thats good because that car is more than a car to me it is a work of engineering art. and in a few weeks (hopefully) I will be able to drive someoness DeLorean (after I learn to drive a stick) but Im going to post that when that happens.
I will post a video to show you that the exact opposite is true. This is one of the biggest misconceptions about the DeLorean doors, and I will provide a video to show otherwise soon.
The front of the car is long as it was originally the DeLorean Safety Vehicle (DSV) with a main concentration on safety - i.e. a large crumple zone at the front of the car. Obviously it then became DMC but kept the big crumple zone as it was indeed a very safe design. Hope that clears stuff up.
If the engine is in the back I'm Surprised they made the front of the car so long. I guess they were just going with the style at the time or something.

Ncalex1 3 years ago
Hey there, thank you for your compliments.
Gas mileage for a auto:16-22, manual: 22-30 (depends on who you ask).
As for the trunk, it's shaped kind of like a wedge, so near the windshield it's very deep and it gets more narrow the closer you get to the headlights.

WHAT IS THAT HORRIBLE WHINE when you start the car just for the brief second it was on, it drove me nuts!!!!
nmzanie 3 years ago
The whine is probably the fuel pump or the electrical system relays before I turn the car over. Notice I didn't turn the key immediately - I'm trying to keep the fuel pump from being strained as it is a mechanical K-Jetronic fuel injection system. It's been so long since I watched this video I can't remember :P. My audio driver's are shot on my computer so I can't watch it and tell you yet :P.
DeLorean03 3 years ago
I went to the delorean place near me and asked them about the whine, He said it was just the buzzer the Delorean makes when it starts up, just like any other car. He also says they provide free removal of the buzzer. anyway, you are the lickiest man on earth to be able to own that car. I want one so bad!
iOzzniac 3 years ago
hehehehe thank you :)! I love my car :)!
DeLorean03 3 years ago
I read in the owner's manual (I read it online) that the buzzer sounds for ten seconds when the car starts if a seatbelt is unfastened.
gullwing14 2 years ago
no offense, but you are a superdork. dont worry, i am the same way.
nmzanie 3 years ago
ANYONE who owns a DeLorean is a dork :P. A-N-Y-O-N-E =P.

I just came across a DeLorean for $13,000 dollars..... if i could sell my 66' Thunderbird for 7k or more in the next couple of days.... id buy the DeLorean... lol XD
JohnnyCage93 3 years ago
i live in florida...winterhaven florida to be specific.and in a small personaly owned car lot there is a delorean, i saw it and its been there awhile. i dont know how much it is..how much do they normaly go for now?
crocomagator33 3 years ago
Depending on the condition of the car, it could sell anywhere from $6000-$60,000+.
but usualy, a DeLorean in good running condidtion, minor or no body dammage, nice interior, A/C and radio works, and low or moderly low mileage (55k miles or less) would sell for about $12,000-$26,000 dollars
JohnnyCage93 3 years ago
where did you get the carpet dash???
Bradhonda89 3 years ago
You can get those from Delorean Motor Company.
jammer96 3 years ago
I sat in a Delorean when I was 11. It belonged to a friend of ours. He let me sit in it with the doors closed. Ever since then I knew I had to have one. Our friend passed away a few years ago, but his wife still has the car. She said they're going to fix it up and keep it. If they ever change their mind I'll buy it! I alwais though they were beautiful cool cars. I'm writing a book on the Delorean called "88 mph".
jammer96 3 years ago
Awesome car, man. Awesome! I'm only several tens of thousands of dollars away from getting mine! O_o If you do a new video, can you show how much room is in the "trunk?" I've never seen that side open before. I love the instrument cluster, too! Those buttons are retro and *awesome*. You bought yours used, right? Not refurbished?
indymcfly 3 years ago
hey Indy =D!!!
DeLorean03 3 years ago
Awesome! Good to hear it's alright, too. Although a car as cool as that is bound to be a tank. =P I have a few model DeLoreans but you know you can't really judge the size of the trunk from a 1:32 or 1:16 scale car. Plus, who knows how accurate the models are! Looking forward to the video!
indymcfly 3 years ago
Thank you =D! I had a Pioneer DEH-4700MP in there but it died so I up'd it to the 5800 model. Looks great with the A/C console! Thank you for your compliments!
DeLorean03 3 years ago
what's with that "huh" noise you make after you talk
NadrianATRS 3 years ago
Um - what a unique question. Probably just how I talk. Like some people use their hands to speak while they talk and others don't look people in the eye, and others pause long or short before they speak - it's just something I do.

Are you Josh Groban?

LOL - I hear this ALOT actually. No I'm not :P.
DeLorean03 3 years ago
hey can you post a video going for a drive in it? is it insured? i really want to see it please!
jackmitchell123 3 years ago
heheh sure I will! I actually have made videos like that befre, but I always recorded over them. I will TRY to do that though for you pretty soon. You want a "still" shot on the dash, or you want me to hold the camera while i drive? Let me know!
DeLorean03 3 years ago
still! Include tunage but not too much bass the mics on those cameras cant handle it and it blanks out all the audio. Thanks for replying
jackmitchell123 3 years ago
U are so lucky! DeLoreans are my favorite! I WANT ONE!!!!!
yetihunter321 3 years ago
actually what you could do if you have a friend that wouldnt mind a ride in a DeLorean that has a decent hand have them record while you drive so you can talk but you wont be so distracted that you damage the car
oh and by the way IT IS EXOTIC by almost evverybodys standards BUT MOSTLY MINE
lkjoiunhgy 3 years ago
hey bud :). I will do that soon - unfortunately someone rear-ended it in a parking lot so it's with my best friend in his body shop. He owns a DeLorean too - and he knows what he's doing. I will have the car back around the end of August. Don't worry everyone - the damage is EXTREMELY minimal
DeLorean03 3 years ago
thats good because that car is more than a car to me it is a work of engineering art. and in a few weeks (hopefully) I will be able to drive someoness DeLorean (after I learn to drive a stick) but Im going to post that when that happens.
lkjoiunhgy 3 years ago
Hey, its been 5 months, can you do that dash shot now?
jackmitchell123 3 years ago
Alright, i have waited a year now, where is this video? How long is "pretty soon"?
jackmitchell123 2 years ago
hey, how much did you pay for that delorean?
portnoyfan521 3 years ago
I paid 10k for it back in 2003. I put somewhere in the neighborhood of $15k-$18k to get it to street-worthy condition.

Long live the Stainless Wonder!
jammer96 3 years ago
Only thing wrong is the way the door opens its cool but u need a big garage and cant get out the car in small alleys
IMPISSOFF 3 years ago
I will post a video to show you that the exact opposite is true. This is one of the biggest misconceptions about the DeLorean doors, and I will provide a video to show otherwise soon.
DeLorean03 3 years ago
cool cant wait

New video about this posted.

Is the front of the car the trunk?
cheesypuff16 3 years ago
The front of the car is long as it was originally the DeLorean Safety Vehicle (DSV) with a main concentration on safety - i.e. a large crumple zone at the front of the car. Obviously it then became DMC but kept the big crumple zone as it was indeed a very safe design. Hope that clears stuff up.
trialmedia 3 years ago
If the engine is in the back I'm Surprised they made the front of the car so long. I guess they were just going with the style at the time or something.
