The first time I saw this I was laughing, must have been a reaction to the intensity of the scene. I really hope the new film surpasses scenes like this!
The Tetsuo's are two different characters in those stories. But it's intersting how they both undergo a physical metamorphosis - which is probably also psychological as the characters progressively lose control of themselves.
Tsukamoto, Aranofsky and Lynch are some of my biggest inspirations. You can clearly see traces of their masterpieces on my humble (and clearly amateur) shorts.
Give them a try, check out my latest clip on Ytube.
I'd say more like a mixture of Akira, Eraserhead, and the first Evil Dead, ha ha. Especially since Pi is a turd and it didn't exist at the time this film was made.
I spend all my life by viewing films like this, now I'm 93 and I think that I was just 25 ...oh holy shit ...today is my birthday ...OH MY GOD! I DO NOT REMEMBER WHO I AM !!!! AM I THE ONE ? WHERE IS MY FLESH ? WHERE IS MY MIND ? AND WHERE'S MY FINGERS ? ON THE KEYBOARD!!! BUT I'M IN BATHROOM! Ah it's all right ...I've a wi-fi connection ...
I hope Leo DiCaprio will take this film into full account when he does his live-action American version of Akira. But somehow I doubt he will be able to LOL :P.
lol no, I had never heard from this one, I found the name while looking at something about Begotten movie and thought I should take a look at this one. But I didn't like it :/
If you have a girlfriend who is willing to watch Shinya Tsukamoto movie with you, I am very impressed and I think that you have found yourself a keeper.
hooooooooly shhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit..... wooaaahhhhhh.... this was... the darkest coolest thing that I have ever seen... after my wife of course.... :D
There's a reference to this movie in the anime film Dead Leaves. One of the characters, Chinko Drill, has a massive golden drill for a wang. He calls it his "Power Dong".
Yeah, until you start hitting on their daughters and actually living there. Some Japanese are tolerant, but most aren't and will disown family members that marry Americans.
You forgot to mention their world-renowned collapsing economy! Wooo!
Japan isn't some perfect country. You're kidding yourself. It's better than a lot of places, sure, but it's not some kind of paradise. You can go almost anywhere and get all of that besides the Gundam model kits in prize-grabber machines. Which, uh, isn't a selling point for a country...
Also, inb4 "shut up America isn't perfect either :'(." I know.
Here's the way i have it figured out. The fetishist is not only turning into metal, but he can manipulate it as well. So, when that chick touches the scrap metal with her also metal pen, the metal crawls into her brain and she becomes a cyborg pawn. It's the same thing he does with the salaryman's dead girlfriend.
this is so sick and twisted. I love it!
