Notice how there is no engine in the truck, they stripped it down to weigh next to nothing to make the video more dramatic...........They should have had Justin Bieber tied in the drivers seat....
I work on airliners all day 5 days a week and I will tell you that those engines are respected by the people who work the ramp ! Also many people do not know that
just opening the door from the outside of a aircraft when its parked and engines turned off can be fatal if the door emergency slide chute is not deactivated.
Not just the engine, mostly you can see a hole at the back of the plane, that thing also can blow out a jet blast. It can hardly blow short things but the B737 could.
Interesting enough, that's either at or right next to the 19left run up hole at SFO. Taken many a jet out there for power assurance runs, same orientation as the video. A service road runs up behind it, so it's possible someone could roll by and get hit by Take Off power thrust coming out of at least one engine.
A lot people don't what know what the hell they are talking about when it comes to jet engines and jet blast. Like that moron who said "the engine had the reverse thrusters activated" Some people think they are smart and know what they are talking about and can't even understand what they are saying or make sence of it.
yea... i got jet blasted twice... driving with out paying attention on my tractor... drove behind a 757-200 and a 737-500... nothing happened. i just got some wind in my face but all in all it was fun and scary...
i just notice that this airplane is a 767-300 and not a 747-400... look under the tail, it has a tube standing out, that is only on the 767's and not on the 747's...
Don't misled these people. I know a guy who didn't hear the engines running on an A320 and walked behind the #1 engine (capt side) with a wheelchair. He and the wheelchair went flying. The point is the dangers of the engines and the situational awareness that's required on the ramp. I'm sure you heard about the mechanic that was working on a cal flight in Houston. He got sucked in.
well, thanks but I just said it because I like getting jet blasted, but only when its on either idle or jst shutting off. But I have been jet blasted recently from a Kalitta Air 747-400. Again it was fun b/c some idiot did not push the plane correctly so the pilot had to correct himself on the taxiway given us the 4 engine jet blast! No I have not heard about the CAL guy...
I don't know if you're talking about the mechanic in El Paso that got sucked in because he was chasing his hat, which blew to the front of the engine.
I don't buy it. An empty 747 is 350,000 pounds. Not only can one engine not get the plane airborne, there's also a thing called asymmetrical thrust and the resultant yaw to consider. Even the #2 and #3 engines are too far out of centerline to single-handedly get the plane airborne without creating major yaw. I believe you meant 'two engines'. That's much more plausible, although not recommended.
That sound track should be used in all narrative instances

@kerrrazzzy8s No one would be driving that truck anyway, It clearly had no engine in it :)
Theres still a fair amount of weight there even it it was gutted.

this is a bit deceptive because that truck is gutted and hollowed out and an air foil probably weighing less than half ton.

the truck was empty, no person, cargo or engine inside it.
it was as light as a feather plus the engine of the plane was in reverse thrust as in landing
nje36 3 years ago
If the engine was in reverse thrust, the blast would be going forward, not backward. Remember...thrust REVERSERS.
