Why is it somehow required by cinema law that there be a male/female romance subplot in every film? Christopher Plummer can carry this movie blindfolded. So why bother with the story of his son finding some useless chick to bang? This could have been a really clever film and may still be. He probably neglects his dad at some point in the movie and of course his dad dies, which makes him realize how important life is, so he lives happily ever after with his girlfriend and doggy.
