@JohanOlsson no it really isn't. all AKs work by a long stroke gas piston system; i e, the force of gas ported from the middle of the barrel hits a piston which in turn pushes back on the bolt cycling the rifle. the German STG 44 stermgavare uses the roller locking delayed blowback system. this works similarly to a pistol except that the bolt is locked closed just long enough for the bullet to leave the barrel by means of two roller locking lugs.
The Stg-44 Was the first weapon to bridge the gap between
the Sub-Macinegun and the Bolt action Rifle succesfully with its 7.92x33mm "Kurtz" Bullet
And is the First True "Assault Rifle".
Had the Stg-44 been put into production in 1942 when it was originally conceived
and made in sufficient Numbers, then there is no doubt it would have had a huge impact in all theatres of WW2 and beyond, negating the need for an AK-47.
But it wasnt to be and the AK became the rightful Heir to the Throne.
@MrSantiago485 as long as it goes bang every time you pull the trigger.who cares if it's russian origin or some cheap chinese made copies right my friend. =)
@Chizzy963369 Steel I think. Dont like the feel because it clunks when you fire it. I love the sights though. The Blade a Ring/post is beter than the peep sight on the M-16. I wish we made better ARs with a higher rate of fire and better reliability.
Kalashnikov is a liar. After the war Hugo Schmeisser, the father of the Sturmgewehr, was forced by the Russians to work in an arms factory in Ischewsk from 1946 to 1952. Schmeisser developed his Sturmgewehr to this known weapon type and Kalashnikov gained laurels.

Well, that's true, however, the chinese didn't collect the fire powder royalties as well. Without fire powder, his gun won't be able to fire at all. :-).
Some people say that the M16 (M4) is better than the AK. In my personal experience with a multitude of rifles since the mid 1970's I'd put it this way. If the M16 (M4) is better... How come it costs 5 times as much and jams twice as often? If you think the M16 is better because it will shoot a 3 inch group, instead of a 5 inch group at 250 meters then you don't know how the average 19 year old shoots under pressure. The fractional increase in accuracy does NOT make the M16 (M4) "better".
@randy95023 they cost nearly the same now, and modern AR rifles are the jamtastic piece of shit they were in the 70s, also AKs jam as well, all machines can fail. AKs are easier to maintain, ARs are more accurate, this is not debaitable

@Dafroft Not surprising because the so-called modern designs are really just 1960s designs with newer materials and sillier cases to make them look more modern than they really are. They also dont shoot much better. The US cancelled the ACR program because none of the "new" rifles proved to be significantly better than M16A2 and the prices were incredible.
Mikhail is right to be unhappy about the Chinese selling his design all over the world. I bet they didn't even give him royalties for that. Damn pirates.
@meanmanturbo acutally he does quite well for himself, he is in a lot of russian ads, has his own brand of Vodka, recived cash prizes from the goverment. He's not rich, but he NOT poor at all
@meanmanturbo He says he didn't do it for money ( even though in my opinion he shouldn't became rich ). He did it for country, he is a national ( and international ) hero.

@nestor1195, hmmmm idk how about no totalitarianism, thats a major diffeence between socialism and communism for ya. How about norway, Sweden, and some other EU nations that have adopted a more socialistic approach to dealing with the public.

@Chizzy963369 nope, has to be steel, nothing else will handle the forces of pressure and heat

@Chizzy963369 Yup, but that blows the price sky high. Rather ruining the AK47s awesome cheapness.
