@fossilshale it was sacred place of muslims from very beginning and built by Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) A.S but with the passage of time people forgot their religion and they started following wrong path which was worshiping of idols and they placed idols in the kaba also...but when islam was accepted by the people of Makkah then Prophet Muhammad SAW broke the idols and cleared the Kabah with all these things. It serves as the common point to which all Muslims can pray towards and visit for pilgrimage to express their submission to Allah and His Will. There is nothing inside apart from pillars and a few ornaments (a video can be found on youtube of whats inside). Nobody has lived inside it.

But it is not the actual center. The actual center of the world is where the Equator and the Prime Meridian connect. If you move above the Equator, then you are hitting a region in which its circumference around the globe is less than that of the equator, which means it is not the geographic middle.
Muhammad never kissed the stone. He was severely injured in the battle of Uhud with the likelihood of not being able to fully recover because there was little if any medicine back then.

@fossilshale it was sacred place of muslims from very beginning and built by Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) A.S but with the passage of time people forgot their religion and they started following wrong path which was worshiping of idols and they placed idols in the kaba also...but when islam was accepted by the people of Makkah then Prophet Muhammad SAW broke the idols and cleared the Kabah with all these things. Google tells lots of other things also about islam and muslims just google them:)

@fossilshale we can pray in mosques and we can pray in our homes but in Kabah we perform hajj and umrah in which there are some practices done by some of the messengers and some other holy personalities and liked so much by Allah that He wanted from whole muslim ummah and his followers to perform same practices...hajj is the practice should be done once in entire life if a person can afford to do so Allah wants His followers to keep their faces towards kabah for prayers

Do look at all my other comments I've made in reply to you... They provide ample proof that Ali (RA) himself did not claim anything more (referring to himself as an "ordinary" person).
