@WOLF777dude they do an event a week or 2 before the next expansion comes out. For BC a huge demon went rampage. For WoTLK there was a zombie plague everywhere. For Cata there was Deathwing randomly spawning and killing everyone.

@991woot119 The zombie plague was just too fun they had to remove it. I loved it when people started forming hunting parties in the cities to try and keep players from running into the AH as zombies and exploding, converting everyone else.

actually gms does show them selves on rare occations, I had one gm visit me and some guildies, he made the moonkin fly, set someone who was rude to him / her on fire, was quite ammusing tbh

@h4l03rul3z It was the end of the burning crusade beta on the test realms, naturally no one wanted to leave so rather than simply pull the plug they created this awesome alternate reality ending where azeroth was wiped out by the legion, this was part of it.
