I have been diagnosed with depression since 8th grade and i have been in the hospital 6 times in 2 years for suicidal thoughts and behaviors and people just tell me i am faking, to all those who think they have a clue THERE IS NO FAKING WHEN IT COMES TO YOU TRYING TO KILL YOURSELF OR DEPRESSION
I haven't watched the video yet, but WORD to your comment about people writing off depression as just part of being a teenager. I've been depressed four years. I'm so envious of teenagers who DON'T know what it's like to consider themselves sick, terrible and ugly on the inside.

@thepenguinsdrowning I know and it pisses me off to see people treating people like they do. They have no sympathy for those who fall, so conceited they don't care who they hurt. They feed upon others and then destroy them. I believe most suicides had a murderer, someone who drove them to not want to live, and thats not a f****ing joke. People need to grow up and stop all this! It hurts when your the one pulling the trigger by telling people to kill themselves! WTF is wrong with these people!

the best part about this song helps you know you're not alone... My doctor told me that if i don't cut down on stress, I'll never make it to 18, and I got 3 years or so... I have manic depression and i don't take medication because it doesn't help... Depression truely sucks and everyone I know either makes fun of me for it, or says it's a fad... and i hate the people who act all depressed just to try and belong, i do what i do because i just feel worthless..,

no one goes through anything that is impossible to handle. it doesnt happen. they decided to take the easy, more permanent way to handle their problems - problems that are temporary, no matter how long they seem to last.
it is also a very selfish act. no matter what you may think, there is ALWAYS someone out there who loves you and cares for you. to take your life cuz to end pain causes pain to someone else. how selfish is that?

@thepenguinsrdrowning sorry buddy you arent right...its text book attention seeking techniques for people with mommy and daddy or other family issues. little kid calls his mom and she doesnt answer..he yells louder and louder until she answers...instead of being 4 you are 18 and ya dont get louder ya just take it to the next step further which is seeking attention through others by saying you want to commit suicide
@thepenguinsrdrowning its the same reason girls become whores or strippers...they have no daddy to love them in life so they seek it through strange random men because it gives them a sense of love and affection. ANY attention is considered good attention to a lot of people and saying you will commit suicide is one of the very many many reasons people seeking attention and love. im a physc major and will be a counselor for HS kids. its all text book stuff...physc is all the same stuff
@thepenguinsrdrowning and 99.9999999999% of the time all psych issues are attention seeking....you are not suicidal or crazy...you are depressed because you havent found a reason for who you are and why you are here and you live each day 1 at a time going nowhere so whats the point. its called depression...go to a doctor..get some prozac or lexapro and get on with your life...or join the military like i said and get your ass in gear...

i agree, some people on here are looking for attention. however, some of them are also serious. i know for a fact that if i actually WANTED to die during one of my suicidal thoughts, i wouldnt find the courage. i would come on here, tell everyone that i am going to kill myself, search for the people who would tease me for it (knowing that those comments would hurt me & give me more encouragement) & then..
@Godfather921 i would actually go through with it. announcing my plan would give me encouragement, & then the people telling me to do it would also give me the encouragement. also, if these people are looking for attention, that is still no reason to antagonize them. attention is a necessity that we all need. i understand the stipper comment. i have actually concidered that occupation since i was constantly abused by my own father. its not something to antagonize people over. its a very ....

@Godfather921 painful experience & one that i dont think i will ever get over. i've tried everything to forget about it, i've looked at all the bright sides (& there are bright sides to abuse) and still, i look at people who have a fantastic relationship with their fathers & i cant help but break down into tears. its saddest when people come on here and look for attention. this means that they werent able to find it anywhere else. so at least give these people the attention that they need
@thepenguinsrdrowning Suicidal and depressed people are simply more emotional than others due to a chemical imbalance...this isnt your life...you dont want to die...you just need help. The people who write these stupid depressed songs and letters about death and wanting to kill themselves are simply whackjobs who are very depressed and choose to do nothing about it...its a sickness just like any other...go to a doctor and get it fixed or quit cryin about it. and yes this is how i will teach :)
@Godfather921 im the kind with the chemical imbalance and the problems with my life. i have both. writing songs, poetry, violent scenes, journals, drawing pictures, screaming into pillows, crying, counsilors, pills, rehab, they all never worked for me. i still look for help. many of these people do. the pain is still there and will always be there. its difficult to handle, and the fact that these people are still alive is a miracle. the fact that im alive is a miracle.
@thepenguinsrdrowning As for ur suicidal thoughts - we Hindus don't think it is a sin, & obvioulsy our Rama does not torture, but we do believe that one can't run away from life's problems - they must be faced head on. God is with us - pray to God & She will give encouragment & guidance but in the end, you have to deal with your demons on your own. Hinduism is not an easy faith, doesn't offer easy platitudes.

thats what im doing. i've wanted to kill myself so much, but i tell myself that there is a reason for everything and, people are annoyed by it, but i always ask why, because i always want to know the reason. there is a reason for everyone's pain on here. they all just need to find it instead of giving up and killing themselves.

@xxxMissesmurdrxxx im 18 and i've had this for 18 years. however, i have found that there is always a bright side to everything that happens, even if its not bright enough to help.
for instance, my father's abuse. the dark side is that i will never have a real relationship with him and he has permanently scarred me. the bright side is that if someone were to hit me today, i wouldnt fall to the ground crying. i could easily hit them back ten times harder without a tear in my eye.
@Wolfenrus depression is a medical disorder. there's nothing a person can do about it. im one of the people diagnosed with it, and i live my life as best i can. i fake happiness, it helps me to become happy.
however there are many people, like myself again, who have been affected by the miserable parts of life.
obviously, you've never been abused by your father, threatened to be murdered by your uncle, almost murdered, almost raped, and a lot more that i dont have room to type.

@tinkertail another thing. Christ doesnt work for everybody... in a way. i've been reaching out for God and have felt nothing. church makes me feel worse because i see all these people who God have actually touched and im left alone.
i believe that one day, He will finally reach out to me and help me, but at the moment, im left to suffer.
Christ will always eventually help, but for some people, if He tells them to wait, it just gets worse
@Goku3388 if you're diagnosed with depression, you live with the affects of losing a loved one without even losing one. you should be thankful that you have a reason. its better than not having one.
you should also be thankful that you had a father who loved you. (i assume he did, otherwise you wouldnt have used him as an example). i wish my father was dead. he abused me for years. it finally stopped when i threatened to call the cops on him.
@neuraxianfusion that is exactly what i've been noticing throughout these comments. people just giving up and saying that theres no point. very pessemistic, its kinda sad and shows weakness. i've been trying to be nice and explain to them that they need to take control, but at the same time knowing that they wont listen to me

i've suffered depression since the day i was born. i was never a happy child. i was wanting to kill myself at a VERY young age... 2nd grade i think. im 18 now and im still getting those thoughts. if i can survive through life's shit, so can the rest of the world.
if it's life thats making you depressed, the problem will eventually end. if you diagnosed with it like i am, fight it, it'll make you stronger

what i learned is that when i fake happiness, i make my friends happy, and when my friends are happy and joking around and i force myself to join in, i become happy. you should try it. people might say that im a bad influence by telling someone to fake happines, but the thing is, you become happy afterwards. :)
@marcelzada dude, ive had depression since preschool but i wasnt put on meds til i was 14. in 6th grade, i walked up to a teacher and told her that these gurls were bullying me and she said, "you're going to be facing these things for the rest of your life and you need to learn how to handle it on your own" even tho this was a fucked up thing to say to a 6th grader, she was right. and i actually became a strong person but just dealing with it. not ignoring it, but dealing with it.

i've been depressed for 18 years and i know what you mean. it just so happens that the first time i started cutting i got caught the next day and it was out in the open, so i cant really keep it a secret any longer.
@HalfBreedMix i understand that, but that's not a big % of the teens out there. you can have the perfect life and be diagnosed with depression and be unhappy. you might be satisfied with how things are going, but when you're diagnosed with depression, there's a chemical imbalance in your brain. this means that either there are too many sad chemicals in your brain or too little pleasure chemicals in your brain. and theres nothing you can do but be sad for no reason. its not their fault
@Kelarre653 dont say that!! i've been diagnosed with this my whole life and nothing much has improved either. mainly life hasnt improved, but thats because i havent been able to escape my problem. you have to do something about your problem and try to fix what's making you depressed. for instance, try a way to vent, try meds. dont just say there's no hope, so i'll just die. that shows weakness. plus, dont tell other people that there's no hope. some of us are actually trying to fix things.
@83Mysterio you should try a stronger medication. it helps, but when it stops working or in my case, makes things worse, talk to the doctor who prescribed it (not another doctor, i made that mistake) and tell them and they'll fix that for you.
@thepenguinsrdrowning Yeah maybe or a little bigger dose. I take a small dose now. I live in Sweden and the medications here are pretty cheap. It cost more to go and talk to a psychiatrist. The depression goes on and off every day. I can be happy a few times a day and also have suicide thoughts a couple of a few times a day.
@83Mysterio oh i see. idk how it works in Sweden. I'm American so the laws are different and our president screwed up the medical processes or whatever you want to call it. Here, you're required to see a psychologist if you're prescribed antidepressants and psychiatrists are the ones who prescribe them.
@thepenguinsrdrowning Yeah it's the same thing here that you have to talk to a psyhiatrist first and then you might get prescribed something if they think you need it. I just meant that I had read that medications are a lot more expensive in USA than in Sweden. Also going to the hospital is much more expensive in the US. I have been to USA for a few weeks in California but never to a hospital but I talk to many people from USA.
@83Mysterio yeah, it didnt use to be that way til obama became president. idk how much you hear about whats going on in the usa, but he really screwed us over.
my medication is about $5, which isnt that much compared to over-the-counter medications which can go up to $20. doctors visits are about $15, and ER visits are about $50.

that's what Hell is. eternity without God. God takes away suffering and when you choose not to let God do that, you choose to suffer. therefore you choose Hell. it's not necessarily that God sends you to Hell, it's just that you chose to go there yourself by not wanting to be with God. why would you go to heaven where God lives if you dont want to be around God?

I wrote today in the morning on facebook that I went very down and in a bad mood but then I wrote that it was because I was tired. I got happier later and was babysitting my brother. I get the suicide thoughts every day and it goes up and down every day.
but trust me, it feels good not keeping such dark secrets anymore. so whenever you get the courage and find the oportune moment, go for it. it feels good. :)

murder and battery is only wrong because you're intentionally hurting someone against her/his will.
when someone self-harms, they are doing it on their own terms, therefore its that person's business and only someone else's if they're brought into it.

@sjnott68 im diagnosed with depression too. i've had it since i was born so that is over 18 years.
however i figured that once diagnosed with it, there is no cure, so i learned to live with it. i only take prozac and welbutrin though, however the meds now just make things worse and make me irritable to be around, so im off the meds.
idk if its different for you, there might be an end, but it you learn to live with it, you'll find that you're stronger than most of the world :)

@narocks777 if at the time i can go through with suicide, i turn my attention to something else or i call someone.
the thing is, narocks777, i dont know what is making you want to die so much, so i cant necessarily help you as much as i want to. but im pretty sure that if you ponder other solutions to your problem besides suicide, you can some up with something and then end the situation and continue on with your better life
@narocks777 my grandmother has attempted suicide a lot too and has survived each time.
i would think that being to so many rehabs and psyc wards would make things worse. i had to lie my way out of going to rehab.
what i do is i just ponder the thought of suicide at moments where i cant try it at the moment. for instance, i ponder hanging myself while i look at a tree and i almost do it until i find that i dont have rope.
@09cheerfreak so true. also, people shouldnt just say, "you'll get through it," but they should actually help you through it. like, check up on you every once in a while and see how you're doing, listen to you, give you better advice and help you through your problems.

to help people understand, imagine the worst day of your lyfe, the worst pain you ever felt, the very worst moment, when you were devastated. Now imagine feeling that constantly, everyday and realizing that you only feel like this because of a chemical imbalance in your brain. then imagine trying to act happy so that you dont make other people all depressed. thats what depression is like. so try not to judge when someone is self harming and/or thinking about suicide. you would too.

@ramaraksha01 Lets put it this way. lets say that you make a robot and you have a remote to it so that you can have COMPLETE control over it. you created this thing, and you are so proud of it that you love it too much to have COMPLETE control over it. so you decided that you will give it rules and it will be able to have control of itself. God made angels and humans. He has complete control over them all, however, He decides not to. Satan was an angel that God let control himself.

Satan tempted the humans, the humans gave in and we are now suffering for that. It's not that God does not have control, its that God allows choice. You cannot blame our choices on God.

In the Mahabharata war, God Krishna made it clear - I will advice & encourage but u have to fight life's battles on your own - that should be clear to you by now. Whether we make this earth a heaven or hell is up to us, not God. Hinduism asks u to become a better person, create a better person & take responsibility if that does not happen. It is a tougher faith.

@ramaraksha01 God will not do everything for you, but He can give you strength and help you to find peace in the midst of the suffering so that you can make it through and then use what you learned to help others who are suffering just as much and in similar situations. God will use you to help others and that will be His way of helping that one person seeking God's help. God works in mysterious ways and you will never fully understand Him because He is so great. He is unfathomable.

@ramaraksha01 the people who have killed themselves are able to deal with their problems, they just are too selfish and lazy to try. those two are sins when they are THAT EXTREME. so not only that, but they are murdering as well. who knows, maybe for some reason, God sees something within them and lets them into Heaven. in the end, it's God's choice, He knows what He's doing, He has the right to do whatever to His creation and we dont have the right the question and judge.

I have manic depression and i don't take medication because it doesn't help... for instance, my father's abuse. the dark side is that i will never have a real relationship with him and he has permanently scarred me. the bright side is that if someone were to hit me today, i wouldnt fall to the ground crying. i could easily hit them back ten times harder without a tear in my eye.

@Wolfenrus depression is a medical disorder. there's nothing a person can do about it. im one of the people diagnosed with it, and i live my life as best i can. i fake happiness, it helps me to become happy.
however there are many people, like myself again, who have been affected by the miserable parts of life.
obviously, you've never been abused by your father, threatened to be murdered by your uncle, almost murdered, almost raped, and a lot more that i dont have room to type.

@tinkertail another thing. Christ doesnt work for everybody... in a way. i've been reaching out for God and have felt nothing. church makes me feel worse because i see all these people who God have actually touched and im left alone.
i believe that one day, He will finally reach out to me and help me, but at the moment, im left to suffer.
Christ will always eventually help, but for some people, if He tells them to wait, it just gets worse

@Goku3388 if you're diagnosed with depression, you live with the affects of losing a loved one without even losing one. you should be thankful that you have a reason. its better than not having one.
you should also be thankful that you had a father who loved you. (i assume he did, otherwise you wouldnt have used him as an example). i wish my father was dead. he abused me for years. it finally stopped when i threatened to call the cops on him.

i've suffered depression since the day i was born. i was never a happy child. i was wanting to kill myself at a VERY young age... 2nd grade i think. im 18 now and im still getting those thoughts. if i can survive through life's shit, so can the rest of the world.

what i learned is that when i fake happiness, i make my friends happy, and when my friends are happy and joking around and i force myself to join in, i become happy. you should try it. people might say that im a bad influence by telling someone to fake happines, but the thing is, you become happy afterwards. :)

@marcelzada dude, ive had depression since preschool but i wasnt put on meds til i was 14. in 6th grade, i walked up to a teacher and told her that these gurls were bullying me and she said, "you're going to be facing these things for the rest of your life and you need to learn how to handle it on your own" even tho this was a fucked up thing to say to a 6th grader, she was right. and i actually became a strong person but just dealing with it. not ignoring it, but dealing with it.

@Kelarre653 dont say that!! i've been diagnosed with this my whole life and nothing much has improved either. mainly life hasnt improved, but thats because i havent been able to escape my problem. you have to do something about your problem and try to fix what's making you depressed. for instance, try a way to vent, try meds. dont just say there's no hope, so i'll just die. that shows weakness. plus, dont tell other people that there's no hope. some of us are actually trying to fix things.

@83Mysterio you should try a stronger medication. it helps, but when it stops working or in my case, makes things worse, talk to the doctor who prescribed it (not another doctor, i made that mistake) and tell them and they'll fix that for you.

@thepenguinsrdrowning Yeah maybe or a little bigger dose. I take a small dose now. I live in Sweden and the medications here are pretty cheap. It cost more to go and talk to a psychiatrist. The depression goes on and off every day. I can be happy a few times a day and also have suicide thoughts a couple of a few times a day.

Here, you're required to see a psychologist if you're prescribed antidepressants and psychiatrists are the ones who prescribe them.

I just meant that I had read that medications are a lot more expensive in USA than in Sweden. Also going to the hospital is much more expensive in the US. I have been to USA for a few weeks in California but never to a hospital but I talk to many people from USA.

my medication is about $5, which isnt that much compared to over-the-counter medications which can go up to $20. doctors visits are about $15, and ER visits are about $50.

that's what Hell is. eternity without God. God takes away suffering and when you choose not to let God do that, you choose to suffer. therefore you choose Hell. it's not necessarily that God sends you to Hell, it's just that you chose to go there yourself by not wanting to be with God. why would you go to heaven where God lives if you dont want to be around God?

I wrote today in the morning on facebook that I went very down and in a bad mood but then I wrote that it was because I was tired. I got happier later and was babysitting my brother. however i figured that once diagnosed with it, there is no cure, so i learned to live with it. i only take prozac and welbutrin though, however the meds now just make things worse and make me irritable to be around, so im off the meds.
idk if its different for you, there might be an end, but it you learn to live with it, you'll find that you're stronger than most of the world :)

i would think that being to so many rehabs and psyc wards would make things worse. i had to lie my way out of going to rehab.
what i do is i just ponder the thought of suicide at moments where i cant try it at the moment. for instance, i ponder hanging myself while i look at a tree and i almost do it until i find that i dont have rope.

In the Mahabharata war, God Krishna made it clear - I will advice & encourage but u have to fight life's battles on your own - that should be clear to you by now. Take an ordinary criminal dying while shooting it out with the police, now suddenly he is crying & begging. Where was this enlightenment before? Why didn't he change his life while he was alive? @ramaraksha01 they do realize it when they are alive! how else can they go to Heaven? btw, this isnt all criminals. this is only like... 2 out of 10? also, if they are dying and are like, "hm, i think i'll accept God now," they are doing it selfishly and i doubt that God is accepting that. however, that is God's place. the reason why He doesnt explain how all this works in the Bible is because it is His job and not ours to decide who goes to Heaven and who doesnt and we dont have the right to

@ramaraksha01 the suicide bombers are in Hell. i can garantee that. they did not have time to be sorry for what they did, therefore they did not have time to ask for forgiveness. not only did they commit suicide, but doing that in the name of God, at least i believe, is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit and the Bible says that is the only sin God will not forgive and for THAT VERY REASON.

A Gandhi, Teresa would never think of torturing their enemies, whereas a Saddam, Hitler, Stalin would. This is the co that God keeps? Karma & Rebirth is the better, non-violent way. You are not punished, nor are you simply forgiven because you groveled enough. The most imp aspect of Karma is that you are held accountable for your actions, you are reborn, given another chance to make amends.

where else should a person who doesnt want to be with God go? they cant keep coming back to Earth because there will be an end to Earth, and they cant go to Heaven because they dont want to be anywhere near God, so where else are they going to go??

I think i already posted an answer to this but i see u don't read - our goal is Moksha - Enlightenment or Knowledge - which has to be EARNED! The Buddha attained Moksha, so did Gandhiji. It is a process, takes several lives - imagine the intelligence of a 1,000 Einsteins! Now that's something!
