Maybe someone helped you out, you know how memories at that age can be deceiving.

What ruined this game for me was not the horribly difficulty of this boss. It was the fact that the "ninja master" was fighting me with his hair. Detachable hair. A wig? What the hell? A NINJA WIG? WHAT THE FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU....
I only got to the level on the highway. Dying just became way too easy. D: Before that I'd heavily abuse the magic that explodes you and starts a new life to get through.
OMG this is so easy... use protection ninjitsu; then hit him with the close dagger instead of shurikens and to stop the wall...just shoot shurikens to the holes on the wall next to chains....
He's not that hard, you just have to figure out when to jump when he throws his hair at you and you're golden. Repeating your blows fast enough will ensure Mitsuko (was that her name?) doesn't get crushed.
@dustylefou i know also double jump near him when hes about to throw his hair then dogde it by moving away you can do it without ninjustu or powers, also its obvious that there chains next to the wall and a holes to stop the death trap and i was only 10 when i played it and im only 17
Dude, no wonder you keep losing. First, your health is at its minimum. Try and get here without having to use a continue, and your health should be much higher. Also, you need a POWER UP. It cuts the difficulty in half.
Yeah, he's a hard boss. What I hate more though is the final level before the final boss. It's a labyrinth and the music that's playing is HELL. Also, unless you're a GOD, you won't defeat Zeed unless you have the power-up for your projectile, and of course you gotta find that power-up in the level before it. Ugh.

what you can is use that ninja magic that sacrifices 1 life and musashi explodes.
whenever the boss is exposed, perform that ninja magic and it'll take off a ton of damage. it's real easy if you have like at least 5 lives. the ceiling dropping on the girl won't even get half way down. i've done it a million times when i was a kid.
@SlowDaddie or you can try to manage to get the flame daggers and use invincibility at the start and kill him before the ceiling comes down, I did that and got the good ending. Hard as hell though...
Protip: before you take the exit, make sure you have 2 (two) magics, which can be gotten in the crawl space the player will pass along the correct path to the boss. Then, before you fight the boss, if you don't have a POW, you can get a hidden one to the left, on the wall opposite the exit. Crouch in quick, hit him a bunch of times, make a double jump (your timing is lackluster there, buds), and repeat the process. This should give you enough time to win before the missus gets crushed.

You can get over that hair a lot easier if you do a double jump. And you can shoot into the slots next to the chains to jam them so the wall haults temporarily.

luckily theres a secret shuriken power up box at the end of the previous level. shoot the top left of the exit screen to acquire them, and you will have a fighting chance.
Another way to beat him is clear out the entire dungeon in stage 8 level 2 BEFORE you pick up any flame dagger upgrades, then go collect one, head on to the boss fight. Try to keep your health high while ending s8l2. Then do the lighning jitsu, dodge and throw flame daggers at the boss. He goes down pretty easily from those. :)
I see you haven't collected health upgrades through the game. You collet those, have 3x greater health. You get very close to him, duck, and hit him all the time. When you you 2health, you hit him one time, and at the same time active the last spell (suicide or whatever it is), so it wounds him, lose one life, but you would've lost it anyway, but in this case your energy is full. I did it with 3 lifes, and on the last one you use protection magic and destroy him.
The boss is hard, indeed, but you have used wrong strategy. I can actually kill the boss without power shurikens, and, as other people said the "suicide" technique restores your life, you if you have 2 chances to do the techniques just use one for suicide and other for the electric shield. Also you have to time better your movements cause you get hit almost in every movement.
1) every time you jump away u should press jump again to do the somersault it helps you dodge his flying hair
2) also u should notice on each side a chain running along the wall theres a hole along the middle, if you throw your shruikens in there it temporarily slows the walls decent, so keep beating the boss the way you were doing, but everytime you jump away from him throw a couple or shruikens towards that hole in the wall and it'll give u more time to fight
This is all wrong, dude. You just do the explosive magic whenever your energy level is low, so it grows to the beginning again. Besides, you have to throw shurikens constantly at a black hole on the left wall that keeps the thing on the top from lowering and hitting the girl. That's it.
I agree with you completely. If you do the magic where you self destruct your self not only do you get your life back it also give you a whole new ninjitsu so you can keep doing this until the boss is dead. Whoever this guy is making this video, HE SUCKS.

you can dodge that ranged attack with a double jump and just use the shield for insurance...or you can follow what everyone else is saying and unload everything with the explosion jutsu...
let me give you a words of advice instead of using the fire snake power use the exploding ninja power because if you use this you can get a new energy bar and you can use this over and over it does drain lives but it will enable to kill the final boss with ease i did this in shinobi 3 final boss because of this i killed him
from what i recall, i never had trouble with this boss. because by the time i could play to this part of the game, i was pretty much an expert in it. u can dodge his thrown hair using well timed somersault jumps. for me, by far the hardest part of the game was the long jump of doom in level 7 the seaport level.
i loved this game when i was little, use to paly it with my mum dad and sister along with other titles such as golden axe and streets of rage 1 etc lol. damn this boss was hard but i knew someone who did it! i never did though...
I always got the good ending in this one. I would attack the boss like the mofo and use the self-destruct ninjitsu to stop the slab from crushing Joe's girlfriend in the background, rinse and repeat.
You just have to throw shurikens at the black spots on the walls. That stops the wall from coming down for a few seconds. If you don't have POW, then use the explosion magic however many times you can, but ONLY when he sticks out his hair, otherwise no damage will be done.

Me and my brother beat this game, we got the bad ending, but use the super jump power, it's a lot easier to dodge his hair, it takes a while, but we beat the game.
I always thought the final boss from Golden Axe was one of the hardest bosses in vid game history, its almost impossible without spamming the run and kick maneuver over and over :P.
Maybe you would win if you threw a shuriken at the black gap in the middle of the right wall.
Also instead of using your lightning Jutsu, when your near death use the jutsu that makes you explode... youll return with full health and one less life

I finished this game the day it was released both good and bad endings, and remains in my collection even to this day. Yes.. I am "older" but god you want a "crappy game moment," go find a princess in another castle or something that is just as lame.

I think the magic attacks only worked if you did them when he tried to stab you in the face with his hair. He wasn't really an impossible boss or anything, just annoying. BTW, I think it's a demon, the cover of the box the game came in when I got it had an artwork of him, and he looked like a cross between that kabuki guy from Samurai Shodown and Yoshimitsu from Tekken 2.
Omg quite frankly put...This last boss fight was not hard at all to me...the hard part was getting to this damn Oni mutha. you would have to go through this frustrating maze and I was 12 at the time with a short attention span and a selective memory. Your totally wrong. Theres a hidden power up to the left that maximizes you sword. Just get that and go right next to him and swing away. Youll beat him in like 30 seconds or so. I used to do it all the time.
Come on guys...It did frustrate me. When I first realized the giant cement wall was going to squish her, it's a real game moment when your actions matter for a life other than yours. Here's the seceret...Get the POW's and a ton of EX lives (5 at least)...use the POWs up first..when gone or you're damaged badly...start blowing yourself up next to boss when it's vunerable - it does him damage and extends your life. 1.2.3...bob's your uncle...you've won.
The shinobi games have been so great from the arcade to the ps2 shinobi ones, I still haven't gotten all the secrets in Kunoichi on ps2 :p As for RoS, ya one of the toughest in the series, especially the boss. Just a heads up, if you need to use thunder ninjitsu as a reassurance, well if you must but to really get better against Zeed, learn to crouch, wait for him to attack with his hair, counter hit then immediately jump up and away to make his hair fly upward and miss you at the same time :p
get the "POW" at the ladybrinth. Then u can defeat the boss within 8 hits. It is that simple. I have completed this game and save the girl as well. If u want to save the girl. Hit the center portion at either side to stop it from moving downwards.
Almost forgot about that trick...but remember it only stops it for a little while...the designers want you to pat your head and rub your belly at the same time...fun moment. Ugg! XP
And the purpose of this video is? Great game i have to say. I dont think i would go as far as saying it is crappy, nor does it contain a crappy moment.

Easy with the hidden POW bonus in the labyrinth just before the fight, mostly when you use the Ikazuchi jitsu (shield).
And yeah, double jump is the way to dodge the ninja master's hair.

Far from the most frustrating boss fight, not even deserving of being on the list. I beat him fairly easily back in the day.
ACESpark has a Youtube vid where he mops him up in less than a minute without getting hit.

I remember when I didn't manage to save the hero's girlfriend, crushed by the ceiling, I felt really bad.
Then a few years later, with gamer's experience at hand, I killed the Hairspray reject boss, saved her and felt good.

you can dodge that ranged attack with a double jump and just use the shield for insurance...or you can follow what everyone else is saying and unload everything with the explosion jutsu...

let me give you a words of advice instead of using the fire snake power use the exploding ninja power because if you use this you can get a new energy bar and you can use this over and over it does drain lives but it will enable to kill the final boss with ease i did this in shinobi 3 final boss because of this i killed him

from what i recall, i never had trouble with this boss. because by the time i could play to this part of the game, i was pretty much an expert in it. u can dodge his thrown hair using well timed somersault jumps. for me, by far the hardest part of the game was the long jump of doom in level 7 the seaport level.

i loved this game when i was little, use to paly it with my mum dad and sister along with other titles such as golden axe and streets of rage 1 etc lol. damn this boss was hard but i knew someone who did it! i never did though...

All you gotta do is
1. Keep hitting that hole on the wall till the boss exposes his head
2. (with Mijin equipped), use it!
You'll lose a life but damage him
Keep switching between that and hitting him regularly when your health is high

I always got the good ending in this one. I would attack the boss like the mofo and use the self-destruct ninjitsu to stop the slab from crushing Joe's girlfriend in the background, rinse and repeat.

You just have to throw shurikens at the black spots on the walls. That stops the wall from coming down for a few seconds. If you don't have POW, then use the explosion magic however many times you can, but ONLY when he sticks out his hair, otherwise no damage will be done.

Me and my brother beat this game, we got the bad ending, but use the super jump power, it's a lot easier to dodge his hair, it takes a while, but we beat the game.

I always thought the final boss from Golden Axe was one of the hardest bosses in vid game history, its almost impossible without spamming the run and kick maneuver over and over :P.

Lets not forget the BIG F**KING HOLES next to the chains you shoot in to jam up the gears and stop the moving rock... this is far from a "crappy game moment." This boss fight is a cake walk. I finished this game the day it was released both good and bad endings, and remains in my collection even to this day. Yes.. I am "older" but god you want a "crappy game moment," go find a princess in another castle or something that is just as lame.

I think the magic attacks only worked if you did them when he tried to stab you in the face with his hair. He wasn't really an impossible boss or anything, just annoying. BTW, I think it's a demon, the cover of the box the game came in when I got it had an artwork of him, and he looked like a cross between that kabuki guy from Samurai Shodown and Yoshimitsu from Tekken 2.

Omg quite frankly put...This last boss fight was not hard at all to me...the hard part was getting to this damn Oni mutha. you would have to go through this frustrating maze and I was 12 at the time with a short attention span and a selective memory. Your totally wrong. Theres a hidden power up to the left that maximizes you sword. Just get that and go right next to him and swing away. Youll beat him in like 30 seconds or so. I used to do it all the time.

Come on guys...It did frustrate me. When I first realized the giant cement wall was going to squish her, it's a real game moment when your actions matter for a life other than yours. Here's the seceret...Get the POW's and a ton of EX lives (5 at least)...use the POWs up first..when gone or you're damaged badly...start blowing yourself up next to boss when it's vunerable - it does him damage and extends your life. 1.2.3...bob's your uncle...you've won.

The shinobi games have been so great from the arcade to the ps2 shinobi ones, I still haven't gotten all the secrets in Kunoichi on ps2 :p As for RoS, ya one of the toughest in the series, especially the boss. Just a heads up, if you need to use thunder ninjitsu as a reassurance, well if you must but to really get better against Zeed, learn to crouch, wait for him to attack with his hair, counter hit then immediately jump up and away to make his hair fly upward and miss you at the same time :p

get the "POW" at the ladybrinth. Then u can defeat the boss within 8 hits. It is that simple. I have completed this game and save the girl as well. If u want to save the girl. Hit the center portion at either side to stop it from moving downwards.
