Has any one made other things this way ? i was thinking to glue several layers together and make a sit on top kayak . What kind of foam is this and how can you buy it
@pinkberrygurl21 You don't really "bend" the board. The stringer, or center strip of wood, is cut out of a plank of wood. When you cut it you outline a bend or rocker into it. Then you glue two pieces of foam to the stringer and sand the foam down to the stringer. That creates the bend. If I had diagrams that would help.
Anyway the easier way is just purchase a blank from US blanks and then it comes with rocker built in already.
@miniredrobot Like you've just said.. "US Blanks" Where can I buy that here in the Philippines? Or the word "US Blanks" mean a Brand Name? And.. what COURSE is surfboard making related to?
@HackerHater2011 This one was my second board a few years back. The next summer I made four more and last summer I made three more. So total I have made 9 boards. My favorite is my latest: 6'2" 5 fin
@CigaretteRacing219 greenlightsurfsupply out of Philly. Look them up online. They carry US Blanks and if you are near Philly it saves a ton on shipping.
@gidonwietse The stringer came with the blank, although I have made a few of my own blanks. You just have to get a big enough piece of wood (1/4'' thick) I use accushaper to design and print a template then trace it onto the wood and cut with a jigsaw.
Anyway, though, was not my intent to be negative or create bad vibes on your channel man. I really respect the time, energy, and above all, creativity that you put into making your own board. Absolutely beautiful.
Dope vid, but music a bit misguided. Dude found Christ, but was sick of "spliffs". Maybe he didn't need to quit Cannabis like it's bad, but instead shift his perspective to see that he was using it for the wrong purposes. I suppose Rastafari are sinners, then, and every culture that came before 1937.
It rides great. One of my favorite boards to ride actually. Unfortunately the deck got some pretty large dings in it so it's going to be out of water for a while.
Hey David, Great job on the board man. I actually found your video through Greenlights website.
Don't know if you still read your comments on here but I was wondering if you had and would be willing to share the plans for your shaping rack. It's by far my favorite i've seen.
Jon, the plans were made by a friend of mine and he actually sells them to local surf shops.. I don't think I can give you the plans but maybe he could ship you a pre cut kit or something? Let me know if you want his email addy.
The next thing is if you want to make it out of epoxy or polyester sterin?
how many finns?
do you have alot of grinders? electric etc?
can you be outdoors? You Have To Wear protective mask and gloves MINIMAL! preferely a suit that protects the arms. If you sand glasfiber and get it on your skin, it could easily develop in to astma.
hey, great job love the board. i went the the site you recomended. looks good, am thinking of doing this myself for a project. and cause riding my own board spaed the way i like to ride would make me love surfing that much more! how easy is it to make one of these boards, wat sorta advice u got for a shapping beginer?
Matt, It took me about 2 weeks to make the board from start to finish. I probably worked on it for 1-2 hours per day. I got the kit from greenlight and it cost about $300. I got the kit that included EVERYTHING, even the tools.

Pinlines were made using Liquitex paint. Any acrylic paint will do. Just have to tape it up good and put it on thick.
