What a machine! Looks like a Zalman CPU Cooler. Amirite? And also it depends on the motherboard to where the RAM goes. On an MSI I built for my friend, the dual channels were next to each other. I know that Asus is usually every other.

Somthing I don't think you mentioned is that DDR3 DDR2 and DDR1 RAM type memory isn't compatible with certain motherboards as all these types of RAM. Motherboards only support one type of DDR RAM memory more modern ones being DDR3 the least and rarely seen nowadays being DDR2 but if you buy DDR3 RAM and your motherboard only supports DDR2 IT WILL NOT FIT INSIDE THE SLOT. So that's something to keep in mind

ok i have a queston about laptop's if your screen flickers then goes black would it be the inverter or the the video chipset on the mother board cause thats what happened to my old Sony Vaio laptop and yea it still works but the screen flickers to black during start up and i woul have no clue as to how to fix it i mean i know it needs a custom copper shielding with some thermal paste just to disapate the heat from it and i dont know if that would work would it ?

@BlueAura790 They are Senneiser PC 350 and YES. I love them. They're amazing. Comfortable, but most of all, noise cancelling. They cost about 100-200 $ though depending upon what model you get.

I remember when I first installed my first memory card.

That really made me a believer in spending a little to improve a PC. With its built in graphics card(that I found out after ordering a new card..and returning it), and with its horrible horrible intel chip, after adding that 512MB ram to in conjunction with its 128MB...I was a happy camper.

Would have been great it this video was there but if it doesn't help me, it'll help someone else who's probably in the same position I was as a kid.

I think you have to install your RAM in every second slot because your motherboard is just like that.My motherboard demands that you put the RAM in the slot closest to the CPU

Nice shirt, would be funny for me to wear this, because part of my job is fixing computer problems for my customers next to writing programs.

You have a nice system I use here also a i7 (960) with 24GB (running all my developer tools needs a lot memory).

Normally you have no problem using faster memory than your mainboard/cpu supports but it won't bring you any performance increasing using this memory. The case looks nice but with all this fans it would be to noisy for me :-)

I have the same brand of RAM (the hyper x), also 12 GB total with 6 slots. I also have a Intel Core i7 processor. However, I have a different motherboard and case. Otherwise my system is very close to yours.

Buy according to your budget, and make sure EVERYTHING is compatible that you buy. Research on google about different types of memory, processor sockets, computer case, etc.

If it's your first time, I highly recommend getting help from someone, even if they just watch over you installing. It's really straight forward, just don't want to make a mistake here or there.

If you need more help, google for tutorials and videos, they taught me everything :)

Question, i am going to buy a Kingston DDR3 HyperX 1600MHz 4x4 which is 16 gb of ram, and i have 4 ram slots. Will my pc accept that or wont it turn on as you said earlier? and my maincard supports 1600 mhz etc :)
