Wow. This is beautiful. I am Christian and I have been watching many of the ideos about the pujas and learning so much. In my readings and watching of these videos, it facinates me how people say that the Hindu religion has no respect for women. I have seen the ones with Durga and Lakshmi and I can see the devotion. I am so glad I went searching for myself instead of depending on ignorance. Thank you for sharing with us and showing us the truth. Peace and blessings.
@GardiniaBloom many thanks for commenting . and also for not letting any kind of orthodoxy cloud your thirst for truth . it is always so wonderful to know different cultures and their inner meanings . i have a excellent english pdf book on bengali durga puja that takes place on the month of october . it is written by an westerner and therefore provides an excellent insight into this fascinating festival and its rituals -- starting from its history to its symbolic meanings .
@Yesica1993 its always safer not to comment on a thing about which one has incomplete knowledge . this is not the same cult as found in nepal . this girl in the video is just like any average girl of any metropolitan city who is chosen at her own and her parents wish to be worshipped for half and hour on one single day . she 'becomes' a goddess only for those few minutes and returns back to her home the moment the rituals gets over .
well, it is in my own house . the puja that i have been doing for 8 years now , starting when i was in tenth standard . the puja originated in a spacious colonial bungalow quarter quite by accident and ended up being held in the roof an appartment !! haha .... yes the swamiji at the end is indeed from ramakrishna mission .

It's horrifying to see these little girls treated in this manner, through no choice of their own, instead of being allowed to have a normal childhood.
And then when they hit puberty, they are no longer wanted. What happens to them then?

Thanks for posting this wonderful video. Where was this taken at? I assume the Swamiji at the end of the video is from Ramakrishna Mission?
