  • me encanta el "bang" jajajajaajaj...amorrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

  • i love this video so much, i watch it almost everyday to keep my hopes up about training my scottie.. haha.. how old is connor here? hes such a doll!

  • thanks for all the info in comments, i need to get my scottie to do these things as well, he is so energetic, and its hard for him to concentrate.. i try and use treats to train him, but he dosent listen, he just attacks my hand with the treat in it, and i dont know how to stop that.. he is 4 months old now and pretty much only knows sit, and only when its just me, no distractions... ugh.. :(

  • How do you do it?!?

    Please share the secrets! lol

    Amazing little pup.

My Scotty can only do "sit" and "down".

  • You have to "trick" them into liking to do tricks. The first time they do a trick correctly go completely ape. Treats, hysterical "good boy's", tons of petting. If they see doing a trick makes you that happy they'll love doing again. Second make it a game. Don't get frustrated or show that tone in your voice at all. When you are training new stuff make it fun. Use a clicker and it's a lot easier to pinpoint the exact moment they did something good.

  • Third, lots of practice. I would spend about 30 minutes a day "playing" trick games with him. Usually right after I get home from work I would take him out and then we'd to tricks right after. Dogs are super excited to see you after you've been gone a while and is usually a good time to keep their focus.

  • More important though is making sure YOU are trained to be a dog owner. ;) I highly recommend the petsmart obedience classes. That's where I learned all this stuff. A little expensive -- but totally worth the investment for a good companion you'll have around for years.

Let me know how it goes!

  • man that dog is talanted! i wish my dog "died" when i say bang or any other tricks

  • Connor seems to do a nice job for a puppy. How is he doing now?

  • wow, he is a genius and so cute too! I've got to work on my Scottie puppy. She's tough to train.

  • so cute whis i had a dog to teach the "BANG" TRICK luv it

  • WOW!Veeery nice ;] And "BANG!" is the best ;]

  • I'm not sure. It was always down when he was a puppy. Now that he's grown into it a bit more it's usually straighter and stands up when he walks. Thanks for the comments, we've been working on more tricks and will post his latest tricks soon!

  • what a little beauty ! .. he seems to have a bent tail ?

    see my vid of George.

  • AWWWWWWWW, I LOVEEEEE Scottish Terriers! Conner looks soooo sweet! You're very lucky :)

  • Yeah he was quite a find. He's actually a rescue we adopted from another family. They had bought him for a grandma -- but she wanted a boxer instead. So we were able to step in and take him. He's been great dog most of the time. He was in a bit of trouble when he chewed up my Work cell phone...

  • I have three scottish terriers, I do wish we had trained them properly like that (they are somewhat trained but not to do tricks, just behaviour). Well done!

  • Yeah, we've been trying to do the behaviour stuff also, but he's been resistant. I think he likes the tricks more becuase he gets more treats. :) PetSmart obedience classes have been terrific for him.

  • What breed is it?

  • Conner is a Scottish Terrier.

  • what do you feed him?

  • Nature's Recipe Dog Training treats from Pet Smart are typically what we use. They cost about $2 a can and last about four days with how often we work on tricks. We also have used Authority liver treats and a few others. As long as it's chewy, anything works. :)
