  • that "dude" was a close friend of my brother .

  • @lunk71 and we should not have made so casual a reference to him. I'm sorry for your brother's friend.

  • dude got shotgunned dead here about 2004.even seen it on tv.

  • I remember that! I was about five miles (rough guess) away in a country story when I learned about it. I remember hearing the police sirens.

  • Two of my friends witnessed the murder on this bridge several years ago. There is also a "Forensic Files" episode on that murder. The low water bridges in Woodstock are much cooler because there are a rope bridges for walking across in case of high water. There are two low water bridges and accompanying rope bridges.

  • Hey, I remember that! I hadn't lived here very long when it happened. You're the second person to tell me about the bridge in Woodstock. I really do need to find it. I didn't know about the rope bridges though. Thanks for telling me about them.

  • Hi Cowboys7795! Thanks for the compliment, and I'll look for the other bridge. I want to do more videos of the area, so I'd love to find it. :)

  • There is another one of these bridges in Luray VA. Although it was replaced many years ago by a more modern and much higher bridge, the old one is still there. It can't be driven across but many locals still use it to fish from.

  • Please accept my apology for not seeing this before! I'm so sorry! Thank you for telling me about the bridge in Luray! I keep meaning to take a drive there one day, for several reasons, but it never seems to happen. I'd like to see that bridge, so now I have one more reason to visit. Thanks again for telling me about the bridge. :)

  • Thank you very much! You're so kind. George Washington; Robert E. Lee, and Stonewall Jackson and others associated with the American Revolution and U.S. Civil War in this region were very familiar with the Shenandoah River, and no doubt crossed it somewhere in this vacinity. John, the gentleman in my video "Activity Report," spoke of his Father driving a Model T across this bridge. Thank you for watching. :)

  • Beautiful, just beautiful! I was going to move to VA. Up in Dinwiddie County.

  • Virginia welcomes you if you come, Gregg. :)

  • Lovely evening on the water.

  • That was a beautiful evening Tom. Thank you for watching. :)

  • I trust that you've heard the saying, "Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most." :D

  • KurtGnu, don't mind me. I've lost my mind. HAHA!

  • St Michael's Mount, Cornwall Rob. L

  • No Mersey, Virginia. :D Front Royal, VA.

  • There's no railing?

  • There's no railing. You're on your own. AAAAIIIIEEEEE! :o

  • ROFLOL

  • Oh, I know that scary feeling. The first time I drove over this bridge, my knuckles where white from gripping the steering wheel.

  • Hi Sarah! I'm glad you enjoyed this. I hope you're enjoying life!!! :)

  • I know Jason. I must confess that this bridge is often covered with water, and we should be grateful every time we're inconvenienced by having to drive through town.

  • Wow, very interesting! It is very peaceful!

  • Hi Martha! I was thinking of you in connection with the beginning and end of this video, because I used some of that particular footage in my Memorial Day video. I hope you and yours are doing well and are happy. :)

  • Nice vid :-)

  • Thank you seniorsite (O' mighty Freethinker). I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)

  • That last screenshot is the place people can go to dream... Very nice... Top Vid...

  • That footage ... I was so fortunate to be there at just the right time. When I was there, quite a few others were there as well, so the footage actually includes the sounds of happy people. I muted the clip in favor of my voice-over, but they were having a good time, and perhaps I should not have muted the sound.

  • Beautiful.

  • Thanks Karolyn. I've had the footage of driving over the bridge for a while and I'm glad I finally found a use for it! :)

  • cool...

    we got a floating bridge...

  • I'd love to see that!

  • That last sunset shot is soo nice. That would make for some great pictures :)

  • Emma! Hi! Everything was with me that day, the weather, sun, time of day ... everything. I was very fortunate to be able to get that. :)

  • Wow! a couple of beers and I'd be driving off that into the river

  • I suspect that has happened Peter, with and without the contribution of beer. ;-)

  • Very Peaceful, Betty. -Dennis

  • Hi Dennis! Thanks. I hope you're having a wonderful day. :)

  • I've never seen a low water bridge before. It's so very peaceful. I wish I could walk on it. IT would be like walking on water.

  • Ah, what a concept, ZoeToots. ;-)

  • Oops Betty my mouse didn't click right and it gave you 4 stars so sorry it was meant to be 5 aargh. Lovely footage and what an amazing bridge I haven't seen anything like that before. It makes me think of a causeway here in England that is only available when the tide is low. Cheers, Lesley

  • That's okay Lesley. I'm honored to have those four stars! Maybe one day the opportunity will present itself for you to get footage of your causeway for a video! :)

  • I think I have photos from our family holiday I will have to show you if I can find them. The causeway links the mainland to and island out at sea. L

  • Beautiful shot with the sunset!

So whenever the river is up, you don't cross here. Odd concept for a bridge. LOL

  • Thanks Moosie! The sun was very cooperative for that shot. Oh, I'm sure some have tried to cross this bridge in high water. Hotshots have to do these things, you know. I also know somebody who doesn't care to cross it in any condition. She'll do it, but she doesn't have to be happy about it. HA! :D

  • That's beautiful. But, yea, before I read the description I was like "Doesn't that flood?!" :) It must be pretty damn sturdy to stay up even under full high water / flood conditions.

  • Steve, after a hard rain, this bridge and surrounding road area are completely covered. People who use it routinely are forced to drive several miles out of their way through the town of Front Royal. This is actually on the outskirts of the main town. :)

  • Cool bridge Betty! It reminds me of fording the creek to go to camp when I was a kid. The ending shot was amazing, you have quite the eye.

    D

  • Bless your heart Daryl. Thank you! My Dad and I used to go to a place called Berkeley Springs, West Virginia quite often when I was a child. We were there so often, that I'd begun to think of it as my second hometown. One of my favorite activities was to catch minnows from the creek there. That's a very peaceful memory. :)

  • KurtGnu has inspired a few videos out of me, too. Nice bridge. Quite unusual.

  • HI NaturalTwentyFilms! He's a great guy, KurtGnu. I've just seen his video again, and his footage is better. I wanted to use the low water bridge footage someplace though, and this seemed like a good opportunity. :)

  • i love videos like this. its breathtaking

  • Hi Shannon! I loved the evening when I was able to get footage from the bank of the river. There were a number of people fishing from that side, although they don't show in the video. Everybody was having a good time. Thank you for watching! :)
