My favorite Chinese food place has this great corn soup ... I am suspecting it might be like a corn/ chicken chowder but I cant get the recipe right when I try to copy it ... you have anything that might be like that ?
@SasyBecause yeah...i have an old chinese recipe book - I ask coz every restaurant calls them something different - I think that is chicken and corn egg fu yung. I will PM you the recipe Ive got.
@piricote93 I'm on the fence with this one because of the flour content in the wraps. I'm not sure if it would still taste good after 90 minutes of canning and 2 I don't know if it's safe. Let me do a bit of homework and PM me if I don't get back to you ok?
@TheSheChef Where did you get the wonton 'sheets' from?...I think I really want to make some and fry them up...they look sooo good...making me hungry and it's too late to eat lol
@PrepperCountry deep fry them like chicken or like japanese dumplings. Check out my How to make Gyoza videos...then you can see the oil and boil technique for frying wontons/dumplings.
@TheSheChef, sometimes I would rather be at home, let the new hubby do the outside work so I can keep a better house and cook more meals from scratch. I have so much I want to try in the kitchen, like baking bread, etc. I do what I can on my days off. during the summer I'm out in my garden trying to grow veggies. Sometimes more than not, I feel work gets in the way of what I want and need to get done at home. We are working to become debt free except for the mortgage. then may I can quit work.
@willkaren4ver i try to do as much as i can - 750-100lbs of preps per week plus 1 case canned per week is my average. But more often than not I am doing more than that. At first this being at home thing got on my nerves -but then I realized it could really give us a headstart in prepping. I feel very lucky to be able to do this right now - soon enough I will start working. I'm confident you will become debt free!
how in the world can you can that kind of meal together unless you aren't working? You said you were in a lit class? I work a fulltime job and by the time I get home all I want is a bowl of cereal. I have no desire to cook. On my days off and it starting to turn cold, I've started getting into the mood to do some cooking. I will make several things all in one day, freeze, can or refrigerate for the week or later.
@willkaren4ver LOL - I'm taking 4 classes, but I don't have a "clock in job" But I since we started in december I've commited to prepping 75-100 lbs of food and since march I added 1 case of home canned goods. I maintain the house and cook all our meals including from scratch and have a TINY social life. haha.
@MLZ42679 You can substitute napa cabbage, regular cabbage - or give up the cabbage and drop in some broccolli. As long as it's green I'll throw it in there. My mom likes spinach, the other likes long beans, some folks like zuchinni. Have fun. Make lots - because about 20 minutes after some folks will be lookin for seconds.
Chinese soups are outstanding. They must always be homemade. My local restaurant, I just tell them I would like to take out a soup and ask them what is best, and it is usually something not on the menu they eat themselves. It's really bracing and a full meal. Uprated.
@MyDaddysgirl44 An old lady named Clara has some videos up of Depression cooking and her son or grandson did them I think, she may be passed on now. Egg drop soup is a beaten egg drizzled into and stirred quickly into boiling broth. Clara's American version is fascinating. Once you learn to do this, you can have a healthy soup meal and it can be a lifesaver! One egg per day gives us all the minerals and vitamins we generally need.
@NingasKugon09 no handaan - me and the sibs have each others garage code and keys - saturday or sunday they just always come over here...just let yourself in. LOL - last week was palabok and chicken bbq - I dunno if youtube is ready for palabok. haha.
@TheSheChefThanks... ok, i'll come next time with my calamay topped with latik and some tea leaves to help us breathe later. I'm sure we will eat like there's no tomorrow! :))
Love palabok or anything to do with noodles, please upload it and d chichen bbq [ is that d Bacolod style bbq?] When i was little my mom would visit her sibs in Cebu and Mindanao and we would take that huge ships MV____something. It would take us 3 days to reach our destination and on the way we stop to diff. island in...

They have d best sinugba, calamay and huge dalandan and suha[pomelo], it was d best trip bec of the little food treats minus the wavy, nauseous moments :))
@TheSheChef It was great! And I liked how much it thickened up, so when I added additional water, I ended up with even more yummy soup than I anticipated.
I can almost smell how good that is. I am loving this asian path you are do right now. For some reason, seeing how it's made takes some of the intimidation out of trying it. Well I hope it does..lol It looks absolutely delicious! If I could keep enough left over to can I would, but so far anything I have made after you made it, well it goes pretty quick! Take care and thanks so much for sharing!!
Ok, this was cool....but when am I supposed to park my car?

@SasyBecause do they make it with the egg in it? so it looks like a more clear egg drop soup but a sweet aftertaste?
TheSheChef 2 months ago
@TheSheChef Nope this is a very thick soup almost like a lightly thinned creamed corn.

@PrepperCountry I bought these at a local asian grocer...but I've seen them in the "regular" grocer in the produce section by the salad bags.

@katzcradul Lady - if you have the wraps you could have this on the table in 20-30 minutes - just pinch the wontons while the soup is coming to boil.
