Don't take snacks. Buy from the snack bar. Spend money or the drive in goes away. I have to drive 2 hours to get to the closest drive in. That drive in is barely hanging on. It's like America is dying.
I would highly recommend going. I had not been since I was a little boy in pjs with mom and dad at the winnetka 6 where the theater stands today. I went with my girlfriend last night. We had pizza popcorn and raisonettes while we watched inglorious basterds. We had a great time and it's definetly something everyone should experience.
To Sal Gomez: We are of kindred spirits, it was a pleasure to meet you, even just in the web world. My cable tv show OUTDOOR MOOVIES always had the same mission as your society. Let people know that drive ins still exist! The VineLand marque is pretty cool. congrats on the 9,000 views, but be warned. most views are by Cyber Borg Geeks. These non-humans feed off us creative human beings. they can't be bothered with texting a comment. 5 STARS!
I been there A long time ago. I have a friend that's a projectionest that puts them movies together. Drive ins are ok but there not good for sound like a walk in would be.
I apologize for posting 2 stories of the same incident. The first one didn't seem to go through (but later did) & I wanted to get my story on here, then reworded it a second time around. Sorry!
Had a real melancholy experience at this drive in. The Vineland's a great place but mine was sad. I went here by myself 1 week after the 9/11/01 tragedy, just to decompress & collect myself. I was the ONLY ONE in the entire lot! Rock Star & Summer Catch played. I sat there, totally numb, not knowing (at that time) what was going to happen next. It was very surreal & unnerving. And I love drive in movies! I'll never forget that one. Seemed the whole world was upside down (& the movies were bad!)
Had 2 add my melancholy experience of t/ Vineland. Great place but my trip was under sad circumstances. Living in LA in 2001, I lost my job at a prod. co. due, in part, 2 the 9/11 tragedy. At that time the economy in the biz was bad, strikes/recession/then the 9/11 attacks. 1 month prior I was hired, then no 1 wanted 2 travel, feared more attacks, cutbacks, etc. With my head swirling, I went here by myself 2 get away. I was the only 1 there! M. Wahlberg's Rock Star played. Won't forget that one.
