  • Cutee :)! Saw It In Hostory Todaii .

  • walt disney is a genius

  • "Now that you have won the election Eisenhower, is there anything you would like to say?"

    "I fight for my friends."

  • I like Ike!

can we clone him already ?

  • No wonder he served two terms as president with a slogan with this.

  • you like paul, i like paul, everybody likes paul for president!

  • all i got to say is that its catchy

  • Holy crap. Just realized that Ike is referred to in ssb: brawl. When u do good as Ike, the audience shouts "we like Ike!" repeatedly

  • IL take Ike over our current president!

  • Ike warned us of the Military-Industrial Complex that holds the real power in the USA - as a Republican he should know ! We have him to thank eternally for that.

  • NICE ONE IKE!

  • Vote for Ike ! THE BEST PRESIDENT FROM ALL HISTORY OF THE USA !

  • Why cant we have adds like this

  • Eisenhower?

You sure this wasn't supposed to be about Brak?

  • EISENPOWER!

  • The Democrats ruined the vibe in the 60s with the hate... I'm just speaking the truth.

  • This was '52 >.<

  • good age of moderate republicans...

  • Lewis Black once said it was about time we elect a dead president in order to scare the terrorists out of their minds. I think I'll have to agree with him, & say we should elect Eisenhower in the 2012 elections

  • ike, the last good republican president

  • Eisenhowser!

  • lol this my jam! lol... EVERYBODY LIKES IKE FOR PRESIDENT

  • Ike 2012!

  • I would've voted for him. My parents weren't even born yet.

  • Someone doesn't like Ike

  • @beatlespersun he will get no sympathy...

  • Adlai Stevenson disliked this

  • @guntz12 Hahaha. Good one.

  • @guntz12 Haha good one.

  • Comment removed

  • Eisnehower died in January 1969, at his farm in Gettysburg, Pa., 'pav'.

This 1952 animated spot was, believe it or not, produced by several of Walt Disney's animators.

  • Where is Ike today?

  • @pavXX fighting for his friends

  • This is from 1952.

  • I still like Ike

  • This is so cute :)

  • I LIKE IKE! (for president)

  • Dwight D. Eisenhower 2012!!! LOL I wish

  • @Frosto29 Yeah me too.

  • Go Dwight ("Ike") D. Eisenhower!! xD I like Ike.

  • I don't like Ike! D:

  • This is what my history class was singing for months after my teacher showed us this. great ad

  • @cherrygirl016 lol, mr werenka showed it to us just to ruin our day with the song in our heads LOL

  • @PokeYankeefan sorry, wrong class. I have a woman teacher. but i guess all teachers like to show this video. :-)

  • I would vote for Ike--and I'm a democrat. This is a great commercial. I wish they were still like this...

  • I like the part when they want Ike for president

  • This commercial makes the regular American process of scurrilous character assassination and ad hominem attacks seem adorably cute! haha i love it

  • Why did 1 person down vote this video?

  • @pyromantom They didn't like Ike.

  • Indiana Jones said i like ike back in 1957 in front of a group of russian soldiers

  • Is it wrong, i want to put tentacles at the end of thier picture of Eisenhower and make a Davy Jones out him, cuz he loks liek a squid in that...

  • prepare yourself

  • This and Lyndon Johnsons ads are th best preisidental ads ever

  • I particularly like the constant low drone of "for president" in the background.. maybe intended to get through subliminally to people who were not 'really' watching the set?

  • Even back then politcal ads were vapid, slogan based propaganda megaphones that did nothing more than make outrageous caricatures of the opposition. I love this country :D

  • @darthteej1 Not really, someone doesnt know their history ,because the purpose of this ad was not to be negitive towards dems in any way.

  • notice how everyone in the procession is white

  • I still like Ike.

  • You Like Ike, I Like Ike, EVERYBODY LIKES IKEEE !! ;D

  • We like Ike! We like Ike! We like Ike!

  • We all like Ike

  • This was in 1952, not 1956, if I'm not mistaken.

I remember watching this in civics a few weeks ago, and I can't get it out of my head!!!!! This should be the new rick roll, who's with me?

  • @dmidc Geez...same thing happened 2 me...it's annoying though lol.

  • @dmidc Heck yes! The Ike Roll!

  • yea his forehead was really that big

  • This one is from 1952. After 17 seconds you can see a donkey symbolizing Harry Truman.

  • i love this song but dont really kno about ike or anything having to do with him.

  • I KNEW I wasn't the only one who saw Brak for President before this!

  • AETHER

  • the renaissance of political ads

  • So THIS is where the Brak for President video game from! I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't know it was a parody of a real video until now.

  • @Empyre18

Haha, yeah, Brak for President was a complete parody of this!

Now, I just say that people misunderstood the commercial and voted for some guy named Barack instead of Brak.

  • Probably the last president to take the constitution seriously in the area of foreign policy.

  • does anyone know how to embed this on to a power point??

  • Ahhh politics from a more innocent bygone era when the world was black and white and not various shades of gray. Too bad things cannot be like that anymore.

  • @Pella5000 I saw a lot of grey.

  • This was before the Republican Party became the lunatic asylum.

  • @bigfilmhat that could be said for the democrat party too.... thats for sure.

  • @mustang633NY

There isn't any such party unless you are talking about the Democrat Party of Thailand. If you meant to say the Democratic Party they have become more centrist in many ways.

  • @bigfilmhat you know what i ment. I know people that vote democratic and they use the shortened word "democrat". As for the blue party becoming more centrist today... maybe some of them are but Obama and many in his administration are def not centrist. For example, the VP himself said "...hows that capitalism working for ya?" to someone at a town hall gathering. Capitalism is good for freedom and invention when left to work.

  • @bigfilmhat I do have one good thing to say about the democratic party though - they have come a long, long way since the post-civil war days. In the late 1800s the democratic party created un-democratic rules for black people called the "Jim Crow Laws" They lived by whitelaw untill the 1960s and they started to sing a different song. In the last 50 years the Democratic party has made strides to get away from their former un-democratic past

  • i was two at this '56 airing...i remember the fireman scared me! he still does.

  • @musichider

That's really offensive. You should feel bad for thinking that.

  • FORGIVE ME!!! I was lead astray from my flock.

  • LMAO. I love Hillary, but this is funny.

  • These Ads are so much better than the terrible ones we see now

  • @GQOfficial definetly. i much prefer a political ad which praises it's candidate with a cheery cartoon than the modern kind which throws biased lies at the opponent.

  • @GQOfficial u must be like 70 years old or sumthin

  • @GQOfficial hahahaha.

  • @GQOfficial Oh yeah I totally agree. A political ad at least in my opinion. Should be about yourself. It should be about you and how you're going to improve government. Instead it's all. "Did you know that he hates babies?" Something along the line. I'm disappointed.

  • Vote Ike in 2012.

  • I think that this was ad was actually used in 52, instead of 56. Either way, it's fun to see these early TV political commercials.

  • @ftsjr - indeed it does date from 1952. Harry Truman (the third of the donkeys) was ineligible to run in 1956.

  • It would've been amusing if Huckabee had used this in the primaries: MIKE for President MIKE for President MIKE for President MIKE for President You like Mike, I like Mike Evrybody likes Mike (for President) Bring out the banner! Beat the drums! Let's take Mike to Wash-ing-ton! We don't want JOHN--or MITT--or RUDY-- (and so on...LOL)
  • Wouldn't have made a dime's worth o' difference though....

  • At 0:09 you can tell Uncle Sam digs this tune!

  • Does he fight for his friends?

  • I would have liked ike, but i was born during Bill Clintons term. Oh well, Ike still was good.

  • I would Ike to, I was also born under Bill Clinton's term. Ike tom e was the best president of the last 50 years. After him would be Clinton or Kennedy, but anyway, I likw Ike.

  • Clinton? No way! Reagan all the way!

  • Reagan speeches are amazing.....

  • Why aren't campaign commertials like this anymore?

  • I think you'll find this was broadcast in 1952

  • love this, (:

  • I remember seeing this in school.

  • i like ike

  • This is 1952, not 1956.

  • maybe for his second term.

o, wait... the second term was "I still like Ike"

  • This is '52, not '56. It was made by Seamus Culhane, the same guy who made the "Ajax the Foaming Cleanser" ad with the elves. This was state-of-the-art stuff, kept conservative in design so it would work within a small TV frame.

  • I like IKE! woooo IKE FOR PRESIDENT!

  • We watched this in APUSH and it's been stuck in my head ever since.

  • hahahaha the three donkeys with all thier different facial expressions makes me laugh

  • omg we watched this at school in social studies and it was hilarioussssssssss everybody had it stuck in their heads

  • dude General David Petraeus should run for president, he would be just like Ike!

in Iraq, the iraqis call him "King David" lol

  • lol.

  • woohoo! let's show ike he's the one

    for prez! IKE!

  • who doesn't like ike? xD

  • ololololololllllllollllllllllllllllll

    lllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

    lllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

    lllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

    lllllllllllllllllllllllllllpollllllll

    LOL!I like ike!

  • soon the republicans will rise again, and the democrats will fall!

  • lol no

  • This was made for the 1952 election. They are singing "Let's take Ike to Washington", which makes no sense if he is already there

  • president

  • ike for president ike for president ike for president ike for president ike for president ike for president ike for president ike for president ike for president ike for president ike for president ike for president ike for president ike for president ike for president ike for president ike for president ike for president ike for president ike for president ike for president ike for president ike for president ike for president ike for president ike for president ike for

  • Why can't today's political ads be this catchy?

  • I know

  • yes it was in 1952

  • Let's get bizzehhhhh!

  • when people talk of the 50s being a simpler time they forget it was also a stupider time.

  • stupider isn't a word.

BTW people had more wisdom back in those days..where as wisdom is now based upon a collective entity

  • sorry, but i don't care.

wisdom was based on collective entity more than now. you only have to look at the whole demographics thing in modern politics, with politicians attempting to create stereotyped group identities they can appeal to, to realise that. the 50s were far more homogenous in terms of culture, class, and politics.

  • They were also a safer time. And when things needed to be done things got done.

Can you say that things are really better today then they were in 50's?

  • a safer time? it was the start of the cold war! we have the korean war. the cuban revolution. the start of involvement in vietnam. on top of a nuclear arms race. none of these things scream 'safe'.

to recap: the 50s were a more dangerous, more stupid time, a time of boring culture and media (compared to other decades at least), and let's not forget a racist and sexist time as well. i think i prefer today to the 50s, yeah.

  • Okay we have Iran, North Korea, the threat of Russia rising again. We have to deal with the specter of perhaps a war with China in the future and the looming of the possibility of WWII with A one world system looking to take over

The 50's were a simpler time. There was less crime, Less teenage pregnancy, Less social decay...There wasn't wide spread stupidity like the hoax that is the green movement. Less government surveillance. Less rules, Less regulations. I'd rather live back then than now.

  • china and russia were more of a threat during the cold war than they are now, by far. i don't know where you're pulling bullshit about war with china from. if you're paranoid about wars starting now with weak ass rogue states like iran and N.Korea i can't imagine how you'd face living at a time when there was a real threat from another superpower. China is just an economic worry.

but if what really matters to you is stuff like less teen pregnancies and government surveillance, go for it.

  • Rouge states like North Korea and Iran are crazy enough to do something bold to this country if given the chance....

Our country is so damn weak at fighting that the Chinese can go right to San Francisco and invade this country if they wanted to. Russia now a days is pissed at us because we got involved with their problem with Georgia...which we shouldn't have...

I would much rather be living in the 1950's. It was a much simpler time with much simpler people.

  • Dont forget the rise of terrorist states.

and yeah sure we had a cold war, but the Russians were just afraid of us as we were of them. Castro really didn't create a global power with the take over of Cuba. the conflict in Vietnam was started by France...

Now we have religious crazies who are not afraid of us, yet we are afraid to do anything about. Our next president is a weak armed puppet of George Sorros. and racism and sexism still exist into this day

  • 1. there was a LOT of terrorism in the 50s. it may not have been aimed at america but the world was at least as unstable then as now, probably more due to the uprisings against colonialism going on around the world.

    2. the cold war was the closest the world has ever come to destruction. linking to...

    3. Castro's revolution. would go on to cause the cuban missile crisis. it nearly led to WW3. it was a big deal.

    4. there was massive US loss of life in korea.

  • cheese doodle

  • lol (:

  • Notice the jet...jets were coming into the fore...by 1956...

  • if only we could have this sort of creative commericials today

  • You mean the kind where they don't mention any of the candidates opinions or plans, and the only argument is "look at that stupid looking donkey! Hey stupid donkey, you're gonna lose!"

I'm pretty sure they still have some of those.

  • would that be any better then calling your opponent a terorist and a socialist?....

and fyi (stephonson was a stupid donkey and ike was one of the greatest presidents of the 20th century)

  • This must have been 1952. Why would they mention the Truman Administration when no one from there was running in 1956? Maybe this was before the 1952 primaries, but it's definately 1952.
