In the late 1800s the democratic party created un-democratic rules for black people called the "Jim Crow Laws" They lived by whitelaw untill the 1960s and they started to sing a different song. In the last 50 years the Democratic party has made strides to get away from their former un-democratic past

a safer time? it was the start of the cold war! we have the korean war. the cuban revolution. the start of involvement in vietnam. on top of a nuclear arms race. none of these things scream 'safe'.

to recap: the 50s were a more dangerous, more stupid time, a time of boring culture and media (compared to other decades at least), and let's not forget a racist and sexist time as well. i think i prefer today to the 50s, yeah.

2. the cold war was the closest the world has ever come to destruction. linking to...
