Thanks for that comment! One problem is a lot of broadcasters no longer accept third party PSAs. But it looks like it might soon get shown in the Owen Sound area, which is great.
It is rather sad but a lot of people are simply not comfortable with "difference" there was a story recently about a television host in the UK with a minor physical disability who got hate mail about how she was a monster and was scaring children! Sigh.
This type of commercial should be complemtary PSA on ALL broadcasting schedules. That includes TV and radio. Hope you can make more. It's different enough to catch attention. Meaning, it's not just another useless low value ad for senseless junk.
They were not LiveWorkPlay videos, but they sound familiar. But the commercial I am thinking of was not exclusively about people with intellectual disabilities.
Thanks for the comment I hope we can do another commercial in future.
Well, sort of! It's a bit of a cruel joke that there are many ignorant individuals who have yet to see people with intellectual disabilities as PEOPLE rather than objects of pity or derision. The commercial is about educating the public by poking fun at ignorant attitudes.
Thanks Stever, the part of the televised video that has the A-Channel logo was added by A-Channel (or should I say "A"!) so they'd have to change that themselves, but I will definitely update the logo on our website.
No kidding? That's awesome hopefully that means they will keep running it for a long time, it's definitely starting to get known. I changed it on the website so I guess that's that, thanks for the suggestion.
Thanks for watching the Maybe One Day public service message, brought to you by LiveWorkPlay! We are a grassroots charity based in Ottawa that works with families and the community to support a good life for people with intellectual disabilities.
Our primary work is direct service to individuals and families, but we also serve the public through advocacy and education. To build a welcoming community we need YOU to fight stereotypes. Please show your support through inclusive action!
