Whoever made this video is a poor student of history. The Tet offensive was one of the most resounding military victories in American history. Not only were we not "defeated". In fact, it was an overwhelming victory. Militarily, Vietnam was one long, major ass kicking inflicted by the U.S. However, at crucial times, politicians would pull the leash. The was WAS lost politically, but not militarily.
@2ndLaambn1 It was far from being a victory, merely a successful-reaction to an offensive that took the US forces by total surprise and made them loose critical symbolic places and critical support on the homefront.
Can you remind me how long it took to capture Hue-city after the offensive?
How the hell people think this general..He had 60 divison of American soldier + 180 divison of Sounth vietnam + 200 division come from Thai + Philippine + Newzland + Australia + Canada + Korea and still lost the war to 120 divison of NVA .
Canada wasn't in Vietnam. I dont think it was his fault. The IndoChina War was a Nationalistic war, we didn't realize it and we dubbed it a war against Communism. We were fighting the people we were trying to protect
NVA, VC, Chi-Com..... not just NVA you twat and it was the VC that put the hurt on the us troops not the NVA so much.... after all hit and run tactics play a fuck-fuck trick on you head after a while
The US won the battle and crippled the VC. The tet offensive was a decisive military defeat for the communist forces, but a political and propaganda victory.
The song is pretty self-explaining the human waste of this war. So terrible: "Burn".
For what future? What achievment? What result?
This is my questionning. I've been to Hue recently. I'm from Switzerland, not personally involved in this war. However, I feel sorry for families and lost soulzZ'
What is ARVN? ARVN is actually American platoons using a few SVN soldiers as their tour guide. When you study about the VN war you never hear about these little guys doing anything. The war was generally America vs. the VC&PAVN.
I believe that 'cong' was a term created when Ho was sold out 1n 1954. You may recall that Ho rescued and saved American flyers in WWII. A fight for independence, no more than that. Do not forget that Diem came out a Catholic semanery in NJ. I was an Infantry Officer in I corps, with 101st Abn, and I do recall what NVA troops looked like,,,not VC.
what do you mean by VC? you mean all vietnamese communists or the partisans?, in which theyre the guys in civillian clothes with grease guns in thier pants.
If you want partisans who were communists, try the French in WWII. Generally, the VC started as grass roots types. Today, I actually get email from a person in Vung Tau, who is about my age. What do you think he was when I was there?
Glad your father made it back...was he a Marine?...I made it back too.. I was in Hue afterwards and saw what had happened and stayed until 1969...also was in the valley...If your dad was a Marine tell him Semper Fi and Thanks...from as 68' VietNam Vet
intrestng video thanks for sharring. that war was a tragic we all hope its will never happen again. my dad was in this war and seem like he remember it was like yesterday. all details..
My father too. He fought for the South Vietnamese army against the V.C and North. My dad I think fought in a southern Vietnamese fishing village named "KIEN GIANG" in small skirmishes and also in the central Vietnamese mountain/jungle regions of Ho Chi Minh Trail. He survived.

History is largely a matter of opinions, anyway.

US Body Count Strategy: " KILL ANYTHING THAT MOVES "
Question: And babies? Answer: And babies.
WE HAD TO DESTROY THE TOWN IN ORDER TO SAVE IT
All dead are Viet Cong — Yeah, including babies. Gooks.

I love the music -- The Trashmen from Minneapolis in the 1960s. The best of the garage rock bands.

The VC were eliminated by the NVA. Do you not understand? After TET, the NVA took over.
