  • Amazing. There's so much you can do with such a small device...

  • Nice job. Just getting into this stuff, hope to learn from people like you...

  • Dude you are awsome. Nothing more to say.

  • More!

  • very good work

    fantastic

  • Are you using the control to trigger loops?

  • @Sphereal yep

  • guys every dj does it his or her own way. if his way suits him so be it, i wish him luck. if yours is on the opposite end of the spectrum, then once again so be it, i wish you luck. stop complaining about how he does it and do your own thing.

  • What, so you can copy him? Thought you said he was dull?

Deadmau5 is far from dull. I've seen turntablists live, and I've seen controllerists live, (Justice, Deadmau5, Simian) and they absolutely floor turntablists.

Saying this isn't DJing would be to say Daft Punk aren't DJs, which means you are the biggest fuck head ever.

Haters gonna hate, but I can produce sounds a turntable will NEVER, where as technology is well on it's way to catching up to the sounds it can.

  • oh n one last thing.. if you are going to demo something then demo it properly and show what you're using it with.

    PLANK!

  • ok i read all these comments with this weird beef thats rolling back and forth.... strikes me that you're all in it for the wrong reasons, with your narrow mindedness and boastful natures.

You should all get an attitude check.

Deadmau5 is dull, and you all seem to share that characteristic with him. No one cares how much money you make, how many tunes you sell, whether you're signed or not..... non of this replaces a personality. GET OVER YOUR SELVES! bunch of fuck heads, you should be ashamed!

  • bom remix

  • Wow you are really good with this :o i think this might be a good purchase to go with my Launchpad. It's cheap and there's so much control in one little area. i was pondering getting it but after watching this vid, i really want it! good job

  • Hey bro, how do you program the breaks?

Like where the drum pauses and it goes into a sort of trance until the beat drops again !

How do I program those toggles ??

    THanks :D

  • @zpurpz i dont know what program he is using but you can make that stutter effect using delays with max wetness, short delay time, and lowering the input volume to zero so it appears as if it is stuttering. i use reason and i'd put that stutter effect in a combinator and set one of the buttons on the controller to bypass the effect so i could fade up and down the stutter effect. also assigning one of the knobs to a eq notch filter sliding through the eq spectrum makes that under water effect!

  • hmmm i'll opt out of the next COD for one of these beauties

  • :))) yeah !

  • Now thats making a song yours, Good Job.

  • If I knew how to 5 seconds of the tricks you're doing I'd be proud. very noice.

  • man the drop at 2:17 ish of this mix is epically unexpected! awesome!!

  • @8HiGHLIFE8 SPOILER ALERT!

  • Great! Realy Cool! I want play like you :)

  • you helped make up my mind to go ahead and purchase the nanokontrol first

  • SOLID!!!!!

  • Nice sound!

  • Awesome man! You're killing it!

  • d[-_-]b

  • nice tune ,nice sound, nice skill.awesome

  • im just geting this straight could i control my effects, loops, and tempos for traktor using this type of korg controller?

  • so for this kind of korg controller can i use it with traktor and can i control with my effects and beat tempos too???

  • I finely found someone who knows how to use this!!!! :) - Great good d[-_-]b

  • thanx 4 the nice tune. i gotta get korg nano!!!!!!!

  • very nice

  • awesome

  • you just made me buy a nanoKontrol :)

  • nice work flackbish keep doing your stuff just ignore haters write back plz ;)

  • @flackbish huh? if u was to produce it then u can publish it urself. do u think major record labels just offer contracts to random producers and djs? i have friends who have been releasing stuff on their own for years and now just getting a little recognition. maybe im just misunderstanding wat u mean?

either way aint abelton and midi controllers fun? ^^

just keeps getting easier and easier.

  • Very very nice

  • woh how do you do that sick transition thing around 5:14 ?

  • So what did he do exactly? cuz im sick of djing by beatmixing....

  • @melbournevictoryole hes basically controlling loops in ableton and using effects via midi controls.... basically

theres more to it than that but im not typing a tutorial lol

  • @sapient110 ahhh ok im starting to muck around with ableton and yeah i have a rough idea, what audio effect is he using?

  • traclist dude please :)

  • Very useful video, thank you!

  • nice

  • No matter what anyone else says sounds good to me! Nice one.

  • i love ur mixing =D

  • If I had 14 year olds swarming me, I would be a douche bag also...

  • astonishing, thankyou!

  • good job thumbs up

  • nice! doing a lot with such a simple device. keep it up!

  • Is the Vestax spin and the Korg Pad a good idea for a beginner dj with a Macbook pro? How would the set-up be? Any other suggestions on what equipment I could use?

  • @tanayshah91 Two turntables, a mixer, and some records.

  • @ItsJustAxel

I am a DJ. I'm VERY skilled at turntablism, CDJ use, and other methods of audio playback control. You're clearly either a technophobe or a moron.

  • @flackbish

In that case apologies are due. In any case though, this should mean that you, better than anyone, should know that a DJ/CDJ is limited to a very simple method of mixing.

  • @ItsJustAxel i agree deadmau5 has all hissongs beatmatched and when i met him back in 08 he was a complete douche bag.. i hate him.

his music is good but not as good as he thinks.. BUT cdjs are not limited in any way.. look up james zabiela using the 1000's.. you just gotta know what's up with the equipment you're using..

i'm a 16 year old producer and one day i'll be famous! (: check me out

soundcloud . com / discoburger <--you gotta put all that together

  • @deadrunks wahhhhhhhhhh deadmau5 was mean to me, he has never claimed to be a DJ, so why wouldnt his songs be beatmatched? I swear all of you idiots who have 5 secs with some famous guy just want to talk shit because they didnt act like you are their best friend or something. How good does deadmau5 think his music is, since you seem to know? Tell me how good does he think it is? Also, if you were good, you wouldnt need to advertise yourself on youtube comments. God I hate people who bitch.

  • @RJPBurtonBoards producer whatever he claims to be. i was part of the people that booked him. we picked him up from the fucking airport, we got him his 2 packs of ciggs and everything he asked for.

still he refused to sign anything , claimed it was a sasauge fest and only spoke to one fan because he had a mau5 tatooed on his arm.

he thinks he is a fucking music god. which he isn't. he has got the biggest ego around. and i am pretty good. its for people that think i am fake. not advertising.

  • @deadrunks really, you are 16 now, which would put you at around 14 in 2008, and you booked deadmau5, yeah sure you did, cool story. I can just imagine you, hey deadmau5 listen to my soundcloud. Why does he have to sign shit? Its not his fucking job to sign some whiney kids shit. You act like you deserve some kind of reward for doing your supposed booking job. You still didnt answer my question. Funny that you say he thinks he is a music god, when he praises other artists all of the time. WAAHHH

  • @RJPBurtonBoards yeah 14. no one said i booked him. i said i was with the people that booked him. i'm a promoter for them. very cool story indeed. and no i didn't make music back then, i didn't ask him to sign shit. i don't even like his tracks as much. and he doesn't have to sign shit. no one does you dumb fuck. but he does't have to be a big prick about it either. he could just refuse. people like you piss people off.

  • @deadrunks COOL STORY BRO! WAAHHHHH Deadmau5 isnt a nice person, wait thats also not his job, his job is making music, which he does, and is successful at. Quit bitching, not everyone is going to be nice to every group of whiney shits who want them to sign stuff. I saw deadmau5 in chicago, and he let all of the people with mau5heads backstage, and wore their heads, and took pictures and signed shit with them. You were the one complaining about him not signing stuff, so dont call me a dumb fuck.

  • @RJPBurtonBoards ok. i never wanted him to sign shit. learn to fucking read ass wipe.

  • @RJPBurtonBoards who's bitching? i just let people know what i feel towards him. WANKER

  • @deadrunks and i answered one of your question. nice math, now work on reading.

and his songs being beatmatched already makes mixing not even mixing. enough it's lap top mixing but laptop mixing songs already beatmatched? WTF?

he doesn't praise anyone idiot. he thinkgs he is better than everyone. now he's even making DUBSTEP thinking he's better than Rusko. that's not cool rusko doesn't go making house/electro claiming its easy as fuck like the mau5.

  • @flackbish not agree with you bro.. long time ago I play vinyl and CDJ as well.. and there's nothing wrong if you explore a new stuff and technology. and I still respect for those who still using vinyl, I hope you'll do the same to this people..

  • @flackbish I didn't pay attention to the video just because of how douchy this comment was. Jesus...

  • @ItsJustAxel that has to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Being a DJ means you play prerecorded music for some sort of audience...Technology is changing and the way music is presented to an audience is evolving, so either get used to it or go live in a cave.

  • @ItsJustAxel Sorta just looks like ur doing jack shit on ur channel while he's actually making something of his life so u can go suck that lil kid in ur vids dick.

  • @romelloWilliams11 why would you even think of something like that ? o.e grow up buddy .

  • how r u able to sit still :)

  • haha cute controller. do you have to use a magnifying glass to see the buttons?

  • Nice work man . . :)

  • awesome man. that looks like fun!

  • @flackbish

    Truth right here.

Deadmau5s tracks are nothing special, and there are many more skilled producers who make much better tracks. I honestly have no idea how he could have got so big with such plain tracks, besides that the kissing ass/ego part did it for him.

  • @BrokenSoundBeats His stuff is consistent, the mixing and fidelity is something else, and he's released hundreds of tracks.

Not many recent producers can claim such a feat. He is on the level of Liam Howlett in my opinion.

  • you sold the shiiiet out of this controller. nice mixing.

  • sick mixing bro.

  • what software did you used to record audio and video? i mean recording video with audio from the sound card...

  • very creative way to mix man!

  • fl studio or ableton?

  • This is awesome mate!

  • i like this you can find us on beatport , trackitdown ,juno,DIGITAL PIRATES ....check us out @ my space

  • nasty mix and good demonstration of the nanoKontrol. thank you

  • lovin it babe

  • @flackbish I love that comment you made dude. Great point! Love music!

  • @flackbish HAHAHAHA SOO TRUE or find yourself a management co... i have an agent but they are hard to get! you gotta pull out all the stops haha. but since i got one i get to dj with paul van dyk, designer drugs, bt, steve smooth, and rusko this summer :D

  • FILTER NAMES???

  • How is better to control the fx? nano pad or nano kontrol?

    I have a midi mixer

  • Hmmmm, well....I guess I'd have to say...f*ck everyone else. If you enjoyed it....thats all that matters. What ever happened to having the love for music....its not all about being paid.

Everyone that reads this post....go ahead and talk smack on me...give me a stupid response and keep talkin shit on this guy because your upset that you can't perform "shitty" like this guy. I'd say this dude is pretty decent.

  • why is everyone such a dick about this video?? if they just saw it for what it is theres nothing to bitch about...

  • This is not music!!

This is fuckin desecration of music!

  • Nice one mate. Again don't listen to those that seek only to bring you down.

Good use of the Nano Kontrol. I've just got a Novation Launchpad for launching clips and samples but use a Nano Kontrol for levels etc. Inspirational what you've achieved on the little guy !

  • Don't listen to these tools. If they were better than you they wouldn't be watching your video let alone taking the time to argue about it. I made $15,000 last week..just plain old Mobile DJ'ing, and that was just off the cover charge, not counting coat check, bottled water sales, all that crap. Most of it will go back into paying for equipment but whatev..small business..you know. Boring video..hands and all.. But songs, controller manipulation, talent..badass. Props bud. Keep at it!

  • @flackbish im a dj and i get paid... and about to get signed... you really just have to go after it hard dude

  • @padads Production would be non-existent if people like this didn't exist. maybe its more of a challenge for a producer to find the right artist, or maybe people like you think all music is produced with money.

  • I love this video!!!!

  • watching your vid has progressed my djin with the nano a huge amount...cheers. my set up is very similar except i use a volume fader on slider one in each channel...which as im typin i realise just how little i actually use. Is your second filter on the beat repeat or are both of them on the channel??

  • original way of mixing bro

  • Oh my! That was done with such a minimal amount of knobs/faders synced?! That is quite good! I need one of these...

  • @flackbish Well said. Because you said that, I WILL visit the site you plugged!

  • Cool stuff! Although too much beat repeat ;P

  • Good Skils :D

  • @flackbish padads is saying producing beats from scratch is the most challenging part.....anybody who thinks DJing is harder than producing a perfectly mixed track needs to think again because you cant DJ without those producers making PERFECTLY MIXED TRACKS :)

anyone can learn to DJ that has any sense of rhythm...

  • I like that ! Good vibes//

  • how do you do that loop faster thing?

  • My fav. music is DnB / Dubstep so im getting into making my own stuff now. I want to buy a NanoKontrol and download ableton live but i dont really know where to start!! Any place u recommend going to to figure out how to actually do this??

  • this is amazing

  • Nice!

  • Nice work man.

Is there a way to get the buttons to toggle on/off rather than have to hold them down to trigger the effects?

  • this is really neat

  • dont be rude its a nice mashup mix

  • git it lololololloll ammmaaatuueerrrrr

    oh gawd lost it

  • @MrOogdaboogda they're only 50 bucks, but they're garbage.

  • @recon437 nanoKONTROL's actually pretty handy for the price. The one that is garbage is the nanoPAD. Great concept but crap build. A lot of them break before even breaking them out of the box. Ton of people complaining about that one. Including me! But nanoKONTROL.... it's aiiight!!

  • @thebigkitty Yeah I went with the LPD8 instead after reading so much about nanos. I love it. Still though, I don't think theres a controller (yet) that does just about everything people want for a low price. Besides Lemurs and Zones, I'm still waiting for something to pop out thats roadworthy, and efficient.

  • @recon437 Agreed! I have heard the same as what you're saying about the Akai, that for a few bucks more you can get something that actually works well. My nanoPAD was trash the minute I got it home but didn't realize until too late that it was the pad not me that was broken. There's always the DIY build if you've got the patience, then you can get exactly what you need. I've tinkered, but keep finding I'm not so electronically minded. At 2G, Lemur ain't cheap. I don't know about Zone. Do tell!

  • @thebigkitty Yeah I'm gonna pick up a controller card myself and start my own DIY build. A couple solders and you're done basically besides sheet cutting. It seems like the only real way to get what you want. But check out the "xones" by Allen and Heath. They're awesome, but insane expensive.

  • reaaaaally good dude !

  • thnx for showing us this!!!! amazing!!!

  • sick track, good job...detroit could learn a lot from you

  • Looks like this thing works well!

I've to order this with the nanopad!

    Nice Mixing btw!

  • i just ordered the korg nano series off the net and waiting for it to arrive... pretty much jizzing my pants over this

  • Really good mixing man, keep it up.

  • very impressive.

  • @MCPurductions your brain is AMATUER

  • is a girl?

  • Sick stuff. Impressive automation.

  • nice, I tricked out my nanoKontrol too, painted the faders n all that for eqs and main gain.

    what program are you using?

  • @Frozencellmate look at the title.

    ableton

  • @Frozencellmate

He is using Ableton Live as it says in the title.

  • Ableton Live

  • I can hear

    Deadmau5-Slip

    Deadmau5-Bye Friend

    BSOD-Milton

  • @huiti89 Don't forget "Wolfgang Gartner- Flashback" at the end.

  • you can make all those do wtv you want right? not just volume and crap?

  • yes you could set them to any midiassignable parameter.

  • yeah. its midi assignable

  • This was a really nice video + a good demonstration of the nanoKONTROL!

After watching this, I will definetely get one to have with my nanoKEY

  • very nice! Five stars! Cheers from Germany

  • great!

    i love that rave-sound^^

  • He's using both "Slip" and "Bye Friend"

  • not called slip

    its - Bye Friend

  • not called slip

    its - Bye Friend

  • can anyone tell me how to get that effect at 3:28 ? thanks

  • not going to be exactly right but beat repeat with some filter/flanger?

  • hey!!can u combine 3 nankontrol to builr a 27 faderz...controllin one daw??

  • Yes

  • The begining is soooooooo sick!!!!

    I really like it!!!

  • name of the song at 4:22 please???

  • slip - deadmau5

  • ok im gonna sound like a noob here (because thats exactly what i am) forgive my ignorance. If i wanted to map each pad to enable an effect in ableton and then use the X Y pad to manipulate said effect would this little bugger be the go?

am i asking too much of it or too little?

is their an easier/better controller if i just want to control effects. any help much appreciated,

    Cheers

    Jake

  • Comment removed

  • ok just realised im a fool. you guessed it. i thought i was on a vid of the nanoPAD.

    help still needed.

    thanks.

  • effects... try lookin up electribe by korg

  • Sounds like a straight forward process to me. I'm just waiting for one of these to arrive and I run Live. My experiences of midi controllers and Live have all been great. Live is made for mapping CC (midi) in creative ways. Enjoy yourself. Any problems though msg me and when I have mine I'll try and help you out.

  • which is better, ableton live or fruity loops?

  • ableton for live (bit obvious on that one hah.)

    FL studio for Production.

    imo

  • awesome mixing man, and hybernatinghuman i love your kick ass attitude, and i also have synths. they are awesome. i have a yamaha dgx 530 and a microkorg xl. look them up you might want to get them too

  • u need to use a little compression becouse when u putting together two tracks we can hear some noises and damaged sound....

  • korg should think about the design of that device, it just looks but ugly XD

  • Deadmau5 - Word Problems

  • tracks?

  • then why dont you do complicated kick ass DJing?!?

I'm a rocker who's only just looked into the wonderful world of synths and I'm amazed by the possibilities. I enjoy progressive string and drum influenced music that contains mass amounts of experience and technical prowess.

I can and WILL utilize these instruments to make complicated and beautiful tunes while you wine about how technology is far too advanced because it allowed you to create interesting improv with ease.

    I spit on your grave!

  • Im assuming you've never spun in front of a crowd because if you had you would realize track selection is extremely important

  • Have you seen mau5 live?

  • DJing is dead? That's hilarious. Plenty of DJs use Ableton, and do a better job then you at it, and do it for hours, not 7 min, day in and day out, introducing new music to the public, making people dance and putting on a great show. So, why doesn't track selection matter? Why is DJing dead? Please elaborate.

  • what is that thing called?

    is fukin awesome

  • Agreed.

Appreciate your candid honesty - the full tracks account for the level of complexity in the progression(s). Still - nice idea(s). Keep on keepin' on... ;)
