  • This is absolutely beautiful, Sir. I'm 81 years of age, and have heard many pretty songs, and this one's one of the best I've heard. May I ask how you tune your guitar for that song? I'm sure you're busy, so if it's too much trouble, no hard feelings. Thank you for letting us hear this.

  • @banjodr1 Thank you Sir. It's e a d g b e, nothin' different only using a capo.

  • Absolutely beautiful version, Sir.

  • Townes probably don't mind, i do. I am not looking for you, i looked for Townes. If you want to honor him don't put yourself in his place. Thanks.

  • Beautiful!

I wish I could play the song the way you do.

Your singing reminds me of my father.

  • Nice steady guitar picking! Beautiful!

  • I'm pretty sure Townes would not mind.

This is so beautiful my friend.

  • you rock jacque. that was excellent. great sound

  • Your voice and guitar playing are a work of art, my friend. Your spirit is truly connected with the world from which music and song are born. A man whose wife, age 84,now lays dying; they have been together since they were 15. He will need this song's spirit helping him through these days. Thank you for carrying this from one world to the other, as I'm certain van Zandt did in writing it. You have done justice to one of the purest love songs ever written.

  • one of my favorite songs. I often can't stand singing copycats, but you sing the song as sad and sincere as Townes van Zandt did and I think he would be pleased.

  • Really a great cover Jacques,♫♪♫♪☺

  • Absolutely terrific! Townes must be smiling somewhere as he raises a glass to you. I would have loved to hear you do a duet with him. Truly one of the best versions of this song I've ever heard.

  • Totally amazing, great guitar playing, great singing, wonderful sound, I actually like it better than the original (which is also great).

    Congrats man!!!

  • Great! You got a new subscriber :)

Btw, f you're looking for other songwriters to cover might i suggest Tom T Hall and Kris Kristofferson? Those guys were *awesome* in the 70s!

  • Thanks, I'll research Tom T Hall, new to me,

    Thanks again

  • No problem, I hope you'll like him!

A few of my favourite TTH song are "Homecoming", "That's How I Got To Memphis", "Strawberry Farms" and "Mama Bake A Pie (Daddy Kill A Chicken)" - one of the best anti-war songs ever written, though it's far from the stuff the crowds can chant...

Looking forward to hearing your take on TTH's songs! :)
