The helicopter was not flying in the pattern. You don't hover over the runway like that. You call your landing and the planes stay clear for a bit, and you come down right away. I have flown my helicopter with planes many times and not had a situation like this. Follow the flight patterns and you'll be fine.

Don't get me wrong, Flight sims are fun, but bragging about mastering one is stupid, because they aren't the real thing and the controls are not as accurate as you may think. A good example why it's always a good idea to fly with a spotter. When you are flying any type of RC aircraft, it's difficult to watch both your own aircraft and the other aircraft at the same time. In this case the Heli was barely moving, but the plank was moving to fast to have time to react once he saw the Heli in his path and ran right into it.

Normally plank pilots can hear Helis and can avoid them without actually seeing them, but in this case he must not have heard it...
