BTW, this car has almost the same high hits than the R26R...mmmmh the fastest one in its field in the world on the most famous track of the world : Nürburgring

Its a supreme machine that I am lucky and greatful (to myself) to buy a Viper Green example at VW Wrexham, fully kitted out. Its a fantastically impractical car which is good, who needs practicality in a driving machine? There is nothing wrong with speeding as long as it is used with logic and commonsense.
Testing a cars 0-60 sprint performance in those conditions, going up hill is just rediculous. Ill do a propper review when my Vipre Green Scirocco R arrives in September!

@ROCKSOLID19 Great stuff. I test drove the demonstrator at the dealership, and just NEEDED to have one of my own. Awesome car. Had a 58reg Mazda 3 2.3T MPS 260PS before my current Scirocco, that was fast, but didn't handle the power all that well, the VW is in a completly differant league.
It's just as fast as a GOLF R? That's stupid. I expected a little more from a car with such looks. The r32 goes 270 km/h and this one only 250 km/h. I just like the looks a little more.

@hoplite46 Becuase you wouldn't buy a race-spec, 155mph sportscar to drive it around London in the traffic, that's not what it's designed for. You'd probably not be that concerned about fuel economy either because 0-60 in 6 odd seconds isn't exactly economic driving. Cars like this are designed for excitement and entertainment, and the reviews reflect that. Now stop spoiling everyone's fun.

@bigblindguy Why would ANY car accelerate faster uphill? It takes more work to fight gravity and if anything on a FWD car up a steep enough hill the center of gravity would move back, you would put more weight on the rear tires and loose traction on the front tires. So there are two reasons it would go slower up hill. Sorry if I'm missing something but if you know please explain it to the rest of us.
Why in his real world test is he using both sides of the road? That has to be my biggest gripe with road tests they're always using both lanes on closed roads, we're not afforded that luxury in real life so why do they insist on doing it, id much rather see how a car can handle being thrown into a corner and keeping in its own lane!

People often ignore the lane markings for the most part, they aren't that packed with traffic, and the really extreme bends have mirrors mounted so you can see if there are cars coming the other way

So is there gonna be a 4wd version of this like the Golf R32's? Basically is there gona be a Scirocco R32? Would seem a little pointless having 2 cars so similar.

@robseven7 Not yet anyway its just the the R version and the Golf R, which replaces the R32, Ive seen an american advert for an Passat R too that could be interesting.

@Dermo1985 Ahh. Seems a shame to loose the 4wD, was always a good sellin point I thought...saw images for a Passat R few years back, is a nice idea but so sure as it'd sell too well over here.

@robseven7 Well the Golf R is keeping the 4wd but to put it in the Scirocco would mean putting the Golf and Scirocco into competition with each other all over again, and i doubt they want that, i dont know about the passat i wouln't hate it i guess

@bigblindguy Why would ANY car accelerate faster uphill? It takes more work to fight gravity and if anything on a FWD car up a steep enough hill the center of gravity would move back, you would put more weight on the rear tires and loose traction on the front tires. So there are two reasons it would go slower up hill. Sorry if I'm missing something but if you know please explain it to the rest of us.

Why in his real world test is he using both sides of the road? That has to be my biggest gripe with road tests they're always using both lanes on closed roads, we're not afforded that luxury in real life so why do they insist on doing it, id much rather see how a car can handle being thrown into a corner and keeping in its own lane!

@Dermo1985 It isn't a closed road.... you can see people driving past on the other side of the road through the test. If you get a corner which allows you to look ahead to see if people are coming the other way, then you can cut it. Simple

@SBigDrop @Dermo1985 Completely true. Also, if you have driven in the UK, there are so many windy B Class roads through the countrysides. People often ignore the lane markings for the most part, they aren't that packed with traffic, and the really extreme bends have mirrors mounted so you can see if there are cars coming the other way

@Dermo1985 I am lucky enough to have my own racetrack; its called North Wales. And in this video I see absolutly nothing wrong at all whatsoever with Mike Chen's test of the fantastic new Scirocco R. Its a supreme machine that I am lucky and greatful (to myself) to buya Viper Green example at VW Wrexham, fully kitted out. Itsa fantastically impractical cr which is gd, who needs practicality in a driving car? There is nothing wrong with speeding as long as it is used with logic and commonsense.

i think the scirocco is the hottest hot hatch there is at the moment. since they only sell the golf to the elderly anymore. its fast and very good looking. the only thing i dont understand is why they dont stick 4wd into it. they could even use the brilliant audi quattro.
