uuuh maybe he's not so smart after all, talking bad about god,he never read the bible, because if he did he would know that satan has control of the world right now of coarse it's evil!!!!
it was ok, until "cousin Albert" came in. Al Gore is part of the whole scam. Gore Vidal is still stuck in the Left-Right paradigm. As all leftists, he seems to be oblivious of free markets, sound money, small governments which do not collectivise society... pity... I was once a socialist too, a European communist in fact - that was a long time ago - libertarianism is the answer.
Socialism is the means by which the banking and corporate elite collectivise the people into a herd in order to enslave them. Socialism creates big government - the Soviets, Mussolini and Hirler all founded their tyranny on socialism (don't forget, Nazism = National Socialism).
In addition to a demonstrably unsympathetic personality, Gore Vidal is an ordinary writer and an extraordinary fool. He looks down on everybody. He has no sense of reality. And his talent for political analysis is hardly above that of the average paranoid schizophrenic
I hope that revolution has little or nothing to do with the left-wing branch (Democrats) of the Republocrat party. It would also be better if it were a peaceful revolution.
i really doubt obama will fix things. this country is heading in one general direction and the people who are REALLY in charge are not going to let that slip through their fingers. i am willing to give him an honest chance but i think change can only come from you and me. not a so called "president".as soon as we turn off our TVs and forget about the fake left-right nonsence, then and only then will we stand a chance.first step is understanding the constitution and doing everything to revive it
I didn't vote FOR Obama but against Bush...and I normally vote Republican. If Bush is using everything to avoid impeachment, there had to be some way of getting him and his people (yes, McCain) out of there.
Yes, on the "fake left-right nonsense".
Remember the end of "Soylent Green" and how Heston never knew how beautiful the earth used to be. We need to look back to see how free we used to be to see how shackled we've become.
kdevonb24...here comes your depression..see bailout. Is this the worst time in your nations history now? Fersommling...stop expecting someone else to fix shit for you, thats what got your country in the mess its in.
Gore's anguish at the degradation of the country he clearly loves is troubling. One can sense the disappointment he feels for the direction taken by America, and desire for something much more intelligent and higher and worthy of our great legacy.
I'm a democrat and I think he's the type of person who turns independents off the dem party. Habeas corpus hasn't been abolished, it's been suspended temporarily for a small segment. this isn't the worst time in us history. Ever hear of the depression. bush didn't start the iraq war just to get revenge on saddam. oil, stupidity/stubborness, business interests were some other reasons we went into iraq.
It's very foolish to ignore the wisdom of someone who's seen a lot of life. They may not always be right, we're all human whether young or old, but one can be pretty sure they are speaking from life experience and are worth listening to.
I've only just discovered Gore Vidal. My first impressions are that he's a deep thinker that has stripped away much of the nonsense of life, that he is by all accounts a "Good" man. We have a choice, retread his path, or listen & benefit from his experience.
Oh, yeah, just check Guantanamo Bay for those without Habeas Corpus--American soil, all those who have been eavesdropped on in USA without warrant, dumbass.
Gore Vidal is one of the giants of American intelletuals. William F. Buckley, another, sadly just lost. Although they differed in opinion they were and are true patriots that love our country and constitution. Educate yourself. Perhaps you will realize that it is the constitution that is "taking it up the butt." Dissent is the backbone of democracy, or did Hitler teach you otherwise?
Gore Vidal is falling apart because he took it up the butt for so many years.. the butt is not naturally meant to handle that kind of abuse.. so of course he crumbles.. i fear for him more than the nation since we have the Constitution and still obviously the balance of powers.. and how many people, count them from 911 have been denied Habeus Corpus? let me know .. this is the worst phase of Gore Vidal's own revisionist history
Nightbird indicated that Vidal is gay. It is obvious to them who know gay folks that they are among the most intelligent people that the planet has to offer. For example...
One Albert Einstein of fond memory, when responding to a reporter who called him the greatest physicist of all time, stated that that honour rightly should go to Sir Isaac Newton.
I note that it is the consensus among his biographers that Newton never touched a woman in his life. I wonder what that means?
Gore Vidal: Proof that a gay man can be dignified, elegant, intelligent and one of the finest minds on the planet. He is the finest example of a gay gentleman that there is, and we are ever so proud of our resident genius. Long Live Vidal!
Mysticism empowers fanaticism and the Nazification of governments. We live in a Democratic Fascism. The majority of the American population believe god is on their side and they are the greatest country in the world. You see how easily they make war on sovereign nations or on issues like global climate change. There can be no separation of church and state governments when "Freedom of Religion" allows indoctrination of the young at schools, camps, temples, churches, mosques, and television.

His thoughts on geopolitics and history is at best primitive. he's weak minded and with all that "intellectualism" which is extremely biased and lacking, he can't comprehend ANYTHING. i could go on for hours abuot how he's obviously a traitor to the republic for ignoring that this is not a democracy. if this is an intellectual, we're in trouble.
Your argument doesn't even begin to have the slightest bit of legitamacy. This is a feeble, juvenile attempt at discrediting one of America's great minds.
explain to me then, what a democracy is. then tell me what a republic is. once you give me the correct answer, remind me of what gore vidal just said. thank you. i rest my case.
Your commentary is deplorable. Only an idiot could possibly conclude what your mind has constructed. Eli Lily is working on something for your condition but it's a good 20 years out,
nice way to throw insults our under the radar, but they didn't work. my second paragraph still stands. until he educates me on who educated him, i won't take his education to be the standard i'd live and think by.
Vidal has publicly stated that our leading Revolutionaries did not found America as a democracy. I've seen him do it more than once.
I'm not especially familiar with Vidal's work, but he comments quite accurately on political and historical matters from what I've seen and read of him. Perhaps if you knew more of his work, or more about current affairs, you would feel differently.
No, I wouldn't. I'm saying that this is not a Democracy, which in America's current state would be the wrong thing. You don't want a population that doesn't know where America is on a map telling the leaders what to do. We are a Republc to protect the idiots from themselves. 9/11 was carried out by this gov't. trillions lost/stolen from the pentagon. death of the dollar. collapse of our economy. i mean jesus christ. this guy has to use his base to talk about real things
I understand your sentiments. The country is in general decline (largely due to a general lack of education, which you touched on), and yes, it IS legally a republic rather than a direct or representative democracy. But I meant to point out that Vidal has stated the very same thing, meaning he does not view this nation as a democracy either.
Again, I don't pretend to know his work very well, but Vidal is one of the few modern political commentators and writers I've seen who DOES use his base to talk about real (and highly important) trends within the States.
He's commented on the fusion of the media and the government, and the concentration of power within the federal government and the executive branch in particular.
He's also commented on the deliberate retardation (no pun intended) of the public education system, and so on.
The mass media and most politicians pretend these trends don't exist, leaving a handful of commentators, philosophers, academics, and commentators including Vidal) to discuss them instead.
By the way, I'm sorry for posting this comment in three parts - maybe we should confine this to private correspondence from now on.

Gore appears in it also.
PS - 9/11 was a false flag attack against humanity. Too much hidden evidence proves it wasn't what we're told.
