However, we can't drill our way out of this problem. I'm a geologist by profession. We have 2 or 3% of the world's oil reserves. We use something around 24%. No, we can not drill our way out of this one.

This is a short term fix. We choose capitalism and must take the pros and cons like men! Oil prices will stay high as long as demand keeps increasing. If oil companies drill in America they will sell it to the highest bidder. Whether that be China, India, Canada or the US. Oil companies are not patriotic. They are slaves to the dollar.
The ONLY way to permanently reduce oil prices by a significant amount is to reduce demand.
