I can't believe people are mad at the fact that he isn't blonde haired and blue eyed. It's ridiculous really, what people will find wrong in movies these days.
Dorian Gray is supposed to be blond, blue eyed..I wonder what other parts of the story they screwed up? Do they think their audience is so illiterate that they don't know the difference? Oh well..the book is always better..I'm sure I'll see the movie anyway
Yeah, I started reading the book and you are right, but I think that may have been beauty a long time ago like in the 1800s. Nowadays the woman is supposed to be blonde and the man tall, dark and handsome and Ben Barnes is easy on the eyes. Remember the writew was gay and anytine I see a descrption close to the won in the book, the first thing that comes to mind is oh he's probably gay.
So what if he's gay? What's wrong with that? Besides the character wasn't gay, he may have been pansexual, but not gay, remember he fell in love with a woman. Oscar Wilde was one of the best writers, you need to respect his talent, despite his orientation...Ok..I'm babbling, I can't seem to make myself clear..but to want the movie to differ from the book because of the writers orientation is prejudiced, and you shouldn't even see the movie.
The story was written a 100 years ago. Beauty then is different than how beauty is perceived today. Yeah there are blond hotties out there, but the tall, dark types are what most people see as beautiful today. They did a good casting job. I see Henry Cavill doing it well too.
many people see blondes as hotties too. If they are going to make a movie from a book they should respect the story's creator and keep it as true to the original as possible, if not, then perhaps they should write their own story. I will see the movie of course, as I love a good period film, but I shall see if Mr Wilde is turning in his grave.

love the fact that Dorian uses the same line as Basil "some things are precious because they don't last"...remorse, even at the very last second.
