  • I always worry when I donate to charities like this. If you do this, give these people a well, is it going to lead to an increase in their population? The reason there is trouble is that there are too many people living in an area which can't support them. So what then? We have two villages instead of one, and again we have trouble. So we give them another well? How about they control their population instead. I have seen what the population growth in Africa is like.

  • As a teen I cant do much but me and my friend are trying to find ways to raise money to donate. Keep up the good work!

  • on my last 3 month indoor grow cycle, i used less then 700 liters of water to grow 6 cannabis plants (3 sativas & 3 indicas). these 6 plants have lasted me just about 6 months which comes out to less then 4 liters a day.

we are in a time of water shortage, which "vice" or "choice" is better for the planet???

END THE PROHIBITION ON CANNABIS & HEMP and help SAVE our WATER SUPPLY

MORE WATER FOR THE WORLD AND LESS WINEOS WOULDN'T BE SO BAD

  • Every cent of your $20 will go to well building. All of our administrative costs (salaries, flights, etc) are taken care of by private donors.

  • I sold Charity Water Bracelets yesterday in San Diego!!

    Glad I can help!

  • what is this association or organisation ? Could you send me some informations about it ?

    how can we help ?

  • How easy it is for the rest of us to take our water for granted - all we have to do is turn on a tap and yet we still find a way to complain ....

  • If you were really a "Thought Criminal" you would realize that the U.N. has little control over actual policy, you would realize that Africa has been destroyed due to Corporate Colonialism spawned by Colonial Divide and Conquer Techniques from the 1800s, and that the "Zionists" have about as much to do with world situations as any other ethnic group.

Do yourself a favor and read more Orwell than just 1984. Try Road to Wigan's Pier or Coming up for Air. Orwell will set you straight.

  • You're wrong. Fresh water is deposited in either the surface or ground through atmospheric transport powered by the sun. Once water returns to the sea, it immediately becomes saline and the Laws of Thermodynamics require a given amount of work to reduce the Entropy of the saline to create pure water vapour which eventually becomes rain.

But this is limited by the Earth's natural freshwater making process. So while you can't waste water, you can definitely waste freshwater. Basic physics here.

  • I never knew dirty water could seem so cool.

  • Mantharious........you are very ignorant!

"If they had common sense"....hell they can't get a good education to gain some common sense. I am pretty sure that someone taught you OR you Read the information about starting a fire and boiling the water! How can they gain knowledge with NO access to books??? you are as dumb as these celebrities that go to Africa for 2 weeks donate a few dollars, take photo-ops and leave never to return and check on their investment.

  • To the idiot that said our water in the USA is killing us...

I guess that is why our life expectancy in the USA went from 59 yrs. in 1900 to 75 yrs. today. Some people can be fooled ALL of the time.

  • Damm...you are right

  • hey i think dis is pretty serious n v shudn't take these fings 4 granted...so i pl help out n help save those precious lives , please :)

  • sweet vid to get da word around

    im donatin!!

  • Whats the name of the song can anyone please tell me.

  • Beck - Timebomb

  • I never knew dirty water could seem so cool.

  • How come they don't have money to provide safe drinking water but have money to buy guns to kill each other? I think the world has pumped in enough money for Africa over the years..Live AID etc. They need to sort out their internal problems first if they need any further assistance.

  • I feel so bad now knowing that we use water to shower it on our lawns and wash ourselves while africa treats it as a precious resource and doesn't not even have enough of it.

  • 20 dollers is a lifeline to someone in africa. So if you give a little money (20 dollers not that much) you could eazily save someones life by just takeing a little money and giveing it to someone in a forgin country.

  • Omg the music is so addicting

  • Isn't it?? Yeah totally xD

  • Man this makes you think twice about your life, we're so lucky to have clean water

  • this is so true i was born in south africa but me and my family moved to the U.S. because of the courruption in SA and the rest of africa

  • this is so true i was born in south africa but moved because of the coruption in SA and all africa

  • I'd rather help the endangered species.

  • no boiling water doesnt remov all of the things in water

most of africa gets only 20 in. of water per year so collecting water wouldn't do crap because the water would go bad in less than a week

to build aquaducts and other stuff you need building wood stone or other building supplys

  • boiling water actualy doesn't remove everything for example lead will still remain in the water after boiling it

also to all of you idiots who say to collect rain water, on average africa gets about 20 cm. of rain PER YEAR and that rain water will only last less than a week before it goes bad

also to build aquaducts that far inland you need wood or stone or other building materials which africa does not have alot of

  • I feel completely bad for these guys, but here's my point.

Did the U.S ever go begging? During it's Civil Wars? We prayed to god with all our hearts, and with our troops in bare feet walking down the icy mountains of Canada. We won! We didn't stop! With the guidance of God and our general George Washington. We made it, and we gained our interdependence!

  • I for one whish we dident have to Donate money for people to have clean water, why cant they just have it. Were all people of this planet and water is the key factor for life. All people should have it with out question or money needed.

  • hey, I love beck.

  • you ignorant fool. do you think people WANT to live in these situations? imagine you werent born in the US but in somalia......

    Think, then ask buddy ;-)

  • I wish more charities use YouTube as a campiagn tool.

  • Uhm maybe we should help the US before we help a bunch of people in Africa who cant keep their legs closed...

  • fantastico video .... adonde ayudo?

  • good

  • why does so many people watch this shit i mean the world is full with problems only watching they want some whater doestn do anything if you want to help them or the world make something not watcht this shit. i mean that face at the video on youtube is so ugly and someparts of africa arent so with diarrhea whater they really have citys there. so delete this shity video with that ugly face at the begin. you cant help them with watching this

  • stop thinking so much, and do something more than posting comments like "republicanpower"

Don't miss the point of the video, and, come on, 20 dolars one time, it's not so much.

I already give a donation, and I don't even live in north america or europe. I don't even speak english ! xD

so... donate. 20 dolars per person help a lot

(sorry my bad spelling, but I already told you, I don't speak english)

  • what is this song ?

  • i'll bet most of us here are from the facebook like

    hahaah~

  • if they have to walk so far everyday for water, Why dont they move?

  • Now I'm thirsty.

  • ppl dont have a choice were there born just say your too cheap to donate your money and i must have missed the part were it said it was our fault that they dont got clean water..

  • gr8 video.

  • The solution is firstly using filters which are cheap, thus they can be given to every one. Secondly, education, teaching people that if they put their waste near the drinking water then it leads to these diseases. Thirdly, building of infrastructure, for example sewers and pipework.

  • 20 dollars out of OUR already suffering wallets? What in the hell are our billions of dollars spent on Bombs and Bullets for in Iraq? To make a free country like ours right? hahaha, oh the humanity!

  • Before they get clean water, they should start getting rid of Aids. Really. And our Holyness is not very aware of what he has done by telling them all not to use Condoms.

    Good! Great Job.

    .

  • To "rebublican", I just want to cry when I read something like this. You are to be pitied. God is ultimately in control of this world and he can take everything from you that you thought you deserved. You should be thanking him for his grace and not judging other people for what they have or don't have. Blessed are the poor because they will inherit the kingdom of God.

  • Great vid x

  • Man, these people are dumb. Why don't they boil the water? Why don't they ride horses if they don't have a car?

  • I would but i don't have 20 bucks its kinda sad.......

  • good luck.

    go to get this goal.

  • just b/c we are a developed, third world, and prospering (not exactly economically speaking at the time) country doesnt mean we should sit back and watch this happen... people die from something as simple as diarrhea b/c they lack the medicine. as a nation we should be helping these people, b/c we DO have the resouces that they lack. what is there to even think about? they are human beings, just like you.

  • All of you ignorant people have to realize that it is very hard to dig a well with shovels in the middle of a warzone, also boiling the water would help but that would consume tons of resources just to start the fire. They don't have stove tops like we do, they have to make their fires buy making their own charcoal which often gets stolen by raiders.

Also a history lesson to you, Africa was as advanced as the romans but western and european influences destroyed it to todays Africa.

  • all of us live in nice places.we can find the things when we need.but those people are realy poor.

we are all brothers and sisters.they realy need our helps.Hey people please help them.time is to be together...

  • WOOOOOOW...... way to be a d-bag

It"s about helping people not putting the blame on them. How bout you go tell those children In CAR to go "Buy it in a bottle"

  • I noticed they spelt diarrhoea wrong in this video, but I am freaky like that. but that vid is amazing. and very true. and sad.

  • they dont have the money to boil it

  • You're so ignorant!

The only difference between US and THEM is that we have opportunity that they don't. And it's our obligation in life to use our opportunity to help those who don't have as many. They're lives are just as important as ours, it's only the luck of the draw that we aren't one of them. It's their lives, and we can help it. THey don't have opportunity to do so, and so we must. No one would ever choose to die from drinking contaminated water. Are you truly that ignorant??????

  • wow.. i have to agree with amino, they are human and they do not choose this lifestyle.

  • That is the most straightforward and 'simple' thing to say. If you go back in history, you will find that Africa, China and many nations in Asia were very prosperous until the impact of colonialism, robbed the people of their essential resources - they were ravaged and ignored and this has stolen the stone from their society?

But what i'm saying and a lot of people are working to do is find answers to a problem that could very easily be ours.

  • great.. video.... a good way to get the word think about what it is getting into..

  • another thing.. humans are animals... just like every other living thing. wild animals drink this stuff in the wild all the time.. people are no different from animals. we all are children of mother nature. clean water is a luxury these people cannot afford.

  • We evolved from cavemen who drank this water daily... if they could do it, so can Africa. They just won't live as long. Time to evolve Africa! We did it and so can you.

  • poor peaople...

  • cool

  • its reli gud to help them =D

  • First off Rebublicanpower, your mentality is of absolute ignorance. Did you see how they get clean water? Machines have to drill. Do you think they have machines like that? No. Can you even afford a machine like that? Probably not, so how could they? Why do you say it's 'their' fault? If there were people in the US or in Europe living in such conditions, you'd want to help, right? Well, these people in Central African Republic happen to live on the same planet, so we have the obligation to help.

  • great video! pretty convincing..

if every charity would have such cool videos, the rich would be poor by now :)

  • without wather money would be nothing, one day, not just in africa, people will kill someone for water, and you will ask for money?? water should be free, but controlled, so that none of us can waste it! clean water from the seas, but don't ask for money because one day your money won't mean to someone nothing.....

  • Buy it in a bottle? Are you serious? That's not sustainable at all. If you have a water bill look at it. Let's say it cost $150 a month for most of your water needs from washing clothes to just drinking tap, can you do all that with 150 water bottles? The numbers are off of course but when you buy a water bottle, you are pretty much paying for the bottle.

And it was European Imperialist that put Africa into the "Dark Ages". The fictional book "Things Fall Apart" is a good example of such things

  • how can you say "its not our fault" and that its "their fault"... gtfo, respect them, their people just like you and i... oh wait... ONLY THING IS THAT YOU CAN I HAVE SANITARY DRINKING WATER!!!!

  • so as i see it, if u produce bigger war, then less people will die of not having water?

i mean that is what USA thinks of helping reduce the problem....

  • Amazing : )

  • That was a very amazing video. I can't give charity because i am to young but i will post it on my facebook where people will most likely.

  • i hope they can have clean water one day !!

    <3

  • great message.

I mean, for many years we have taken things from Africa slaves, crops and practically everything from them. This is time to call for returning and reviving their suffering.

  • The ignorance of the privileged! They are asking for help, and rather than give some, you complain that they don't need it? What is wrong with you all!? Pitiful!

  • boil shit to make it healthy ? cmon man

  • my hs club is doing something like this & i think we should all donate to them. :]

  • give us money - and we get oure salary..

Well they actually do have bottles & wells of clean water up there. All I can do is hope the money raised here actually are going to the right people, wich is unlikely.

  • you are so ignorant...

  • awesome work

  • its a sad fact that war really dose kill more the dirty water seeing how most cases of a lack of nutritional supplies is because of civil war in those areas...

  • I know it's really unfair for kids who are born in Africa to accept the fate of drinking dirty water right from the start....but I thought the world is overpopulated.....and still we're trying to saving people like crazy...and we can just throw spendthrifts in exchange for ill-fated Africans... does the world meant to be Doomed?

  • This is most authentic. South America has the same ssues...The US has tis issue as well.

  • your logic pretty much sucks. That's like me saying you don't have a billion dollars because you don't choose to have it. The government is probably so corrupt that it isn't going to help them out very soon. And (unlike you and me), they have to think about surviving day to day. If I bum around for a week, i'll still have food and water for the next day. They don't have free time to do productive things.

  • cant they like boil the water to make it cleaner ?

  • no. thats salt water

  • Boiling water cost energy... And those people don't have the money to buy it

  • they live in poverty...how are they meant to boil it??

  • Of course not, even the muddy water boiled, they can still hazardous to the health. Moreover, I don't think they have enough fuels to boil water either.

  • boil the water? It's like more dirt than water...

  • they can , but they would only be killing the microorganism, what about the sand it the water? it needs to be filtered properly, correct me if im wrong

  • yes. that is called distillation. a form of purifying water, but that also requires somewhere for the water to be collected and the leftover minerals and dirt to be stored, ending up costing more than the $20 you would normally cough up at a McDonalds for a few meals and a soda. Why not do something good for people, who don't have the everyday necessities as ours? the well is efficient, cheap, and it makes jobs for people. it is a big circle of good choices and helping out others.

    Why not?

  • they did not invent the fire yet, GENIUS!

  • Your not serious?

    - How could they boil it? Its not like they have enough money for a oven or something, if they had that, they could might aswell just buy water from europe or asia.

  • where would they get the energy to do that? Its tragic isn't it?

I remember once, my english teacher asked us all - who will drink water from the toilet and we all squirmend - "Yeuh" "Disgusting" and then he says, "well... that's something, more than a billion people in the world dream about."

  • where are they gonna find a stove?

  • no because some toxic chemical product are too heavy to be boiled and they need to be cleaned by an epuration system with filter and other chemical product

  • yeah, but its alot of hard work

  • wow....

that totally defeats the purpose of the vid.

  • i think they do, but its not cleaning the water 100%

  • I dont think most people in third world countries have access to stoves...

  • dont you think they have enough problems to find wood for cooking their food? how should they be able to collect EVEN MORE wood for boiling the water?

  • yes but its so dirty u will get very little of it :/

  • There's still the dirt. And some insects would still hold disease beyond 100 degrees celcius.

And also, a lot of the water gets wasted by evaporation by that process. Unless you mean housing it.

    It's not really that effective.

  • boiling does not get rid of chemical stuff, or even simple things as...salt! Drinking water, once spoiled, is very hard to get clear again.

  • if they don't have water do you think they have electricity?

Just boiling isn't enough and people have to go miles to find water outside their homes. With a well it would be right there village center for them.

  • Yes and no, Boiling the water kills off most bacteria, but not all. Other factors that needs to be considered for removal include chemical agents/residues, heavy metals, and etc. If anyone is going to help them, make sure to also install Reverse Osmosis Water Filter System. Even though our water isn't as filthy as theirs, we have major problems with perchlorates, and etc. I hope the helping efforts don't become corrupted like the intentional injection of AIDS in the vaccine campaign.

  • theres still the dirt.

although it'll kill most of the bad stuff, there will be some left.

  • boiling water just kills rid of parasites

if you have dirt in water and boil it, there is still dirt in it

  • they could but it wouldnt do much. there water is muddy and full of bacteria, they even take baths in the same water they drink. Also there animals drink from the water supply too and millions of mosquito's lay larva in stagnant water which they use alot to drink from. when they take baths and swim in that water they could actually be killing there self, there is Amoeba and a whole bunch of other organisms in that water that could kill them. They need clean water period.

  • How can they boil the river? That is impossible.

  • yeah, boil water in their plastic buckets.

Cuz im sure they can afford metal ones.

    And matches.

    and wood to burn.

  • they don't have the resources to heat the water up

  • you know how much water you need in one day? it would take too long and too many resources.. imagine boiling 1 gallon per day per person for the whole population of a country....

  • Well im not shure if boiling the water will clear all the filth out of it, i mean in africa there are horable things in the water that im not shure can be cleansed by boiling the water, but who knows unless you try.

  • Not the dirt. They can only boil the water to get rid of the bacteria. Just as luis pasteur mentioned.

  • Nope. Because it wont filter out everything.

  • not really its to conatminated and dirty,

  • I agree completely fellow republican but i dont know if my comment got posted but i pretty much said a very similiar idea

  • for all those ppl who think ""'it's not our fault' "" . let me tell you one think u guys r in a minority

    abhi

    INDIA

  • You think those kids WANT to be in the dark ages? They've been born into this, its not their fault. do you kick a puppy cuz it's mother once bit you in the foot? well, i think republicanpower would, because they're obviously sociopathic. We're all humans, right? how the hell do they buy bottled water? they HAVE NO MONEY! They need help, and i'm sure you'd just as soon make them your slave...cuz they brought it on themselves, right?

  • Yes, I totally agree. If their faults caused this, we can't say: "It was your fault, get infected by that dirty water and die". They need some help because they can't survive this alone. Like we saw in the video, Central African Republic passed through three civil wars in past ten years, and every country needs a lot time to recover - especialy the ones similar to CAR - poor countries. When I saw in this video how happiness brings that water I thought about this problem a lots of time.

  • I agree with the OP, and I think liberals should question their tacit assumption that other peoples are helpless and hopeless without the help of rich, educated white people.

That is indeed a discussion that's not had enough, but it's a separate issue from the fact that children are dying right now, right this instant, from a lack of clean water.

  • Too many of you people think TOO much, and end up missing the point of the video.

  • well said

  • movinforward is right !

  • hmm

  • Have you read Charles Dickens? As I recall, the ghost of Jacob Marley says that "humanity was my business." The world would be a better place if people took care of each other.

  • no one is right or wrong in this situation i think we should help but if they dont want us to help we should also let them do it on there own i mean we have mess with a lot of other countries problems sometimes making it better but mostly worser or sometimes we become enemies then nothings solved. (U.S)

  • Help others now giveforlifenow blogspot com

    add dots

  • nc vid very educational =)

  • Don't say 'it's not our fault'. They're human beings, if you were in their position, wouldn't you like someone to help you? Humans err all the time, but helping each other keeps this world moving.

  • If i was dying of thirst I think I would change location to a place that had more water. Not sit in the middle of in land Africa waiting for a foreigner to donate a bottle Dasani.

  • The solution is simple - just install solar distillation plants, & pump fresh water inland! But the political problems, struggles between groups, disparities left from colonialism, exacerbated by wars over scarce resources, have left certain parts of the African continent in dire straits.. If enough water could be provided, then farmers would flourish, and their lives would begin to stabilize, and smaller families would become the norm. Change happens fast when there's the needed resources.

  • dude i totally agree.

  • yeahhhh, you have enough money to build one of them? they aren't that cheap.

  • Agreed. Change can also happens fast when the american-british "empire" stops funding different War Lords accross Africa. A stable Law and Stable Economy are key to the survival of a civilization. And as long as Caucasia out there still WORRY about whats happens in their Soap Operas and not WORRYING about what our fiat currency actually funds under the name of "Foreign Aid", a truck-load-of-20-dollar-bills wont stabalize whats going on there.

  • it costs money that they don't have

  • they are still in the dark ages. You think they want it? Africa doesn't export many things, so it isn't that rich of a country. They could buy bottled water, but they couldn't afford to repeatedly buy bottled water. They live life day by day. If they could be a rich country such as the US, Canada or England, I bet they'd want to.

  • Dont be stupid. They were colonies of England and others in the time when Europe was developing. They are stupid like you, but in their case its not their fault. In the time of being colonies they didnt have any schools or education, than when they gained independence in lack of knowledge they started fighting between tribes. It lasts for long because they remember their past. Somebody can say that Im a racialist but their minds are on a much lower level then ours, thanks to your rich countries.

  • Africa is not a country it's a continent

  • Africa is not a country it's a continent ....

  • Africa isn't that rich of a country? lol @ u

  • WOW.... you just called Africa a country you are an idiot i cant believe you think it's a country

  • Africa does export many things.

    DO you eat chocolate?

Most coca is exported from Africa.

Do you know where the majority of gold and diamond comes from?

    Paper?

    aluminum?

    iron?

It just corruption from the importers that keeps many people in Africa poor.

Look up IMF and the world bank.

And Africa is not in the dark ages, it is actually very advanced. Maybe you should try visiting Africa before you make comments like that.

  • We as Americans waste more water than anyone else in the entire world well N Europeans,in some Middle eastern countries UR given a gallon of water to take shower N women N given 2 gallons of water because of their long hair, their sewer lines R always dry ours flow like rivers ,kids fill up whole tubs N play in it N then waste it,Why?I saw with myself kids playing at YMCA under open showers N leave without shutting 'em down Why?Trust me 1 day there will be no water so teach UR kids about water

  • easy to say... i'd like you to suggest a way for them to buy a bottle of water, when they don't have enough money for water, or food, or anything that you are used too...

  • what you say is a bullshit!!!!! dont u think that if they would have chance to buy a bottle of water they wouldnt??? think wisely!!!

  • Most ppl in Africa don´t even have money to eat, you can´t expect them to buy bottled water...

    Really nice vid, btw. 5/5.

  • Notice that most charities do not post what cut they take out of donations that are made to it, as most are just scams dressed up like charities anyways.

  • they should flow bangladesh, how they can get pure good water with a chip price.

  • wooww...republican power or whatever...ur truly an inconsiderate bitch.like wtf? do u really think people in africa would have this problem if they had a choice? its called poverty dumbass..jus cus ur living ur "republican" life doesnt mean everyone across the world can afford to do that. i only made an account to let u know that ur low and immature. many countries in africa are a war zone. just so u know africa is one of the wealthiest continents in natural resources. go read a book...low life

  • so just because the situation they are in is not your "fault" you are willing to let them suffer and not offer any assistance?

  • even if it isnt our fault we should STILL help them! Dont be selfish people!!

  • wow i thought it was gonna be something lik oh conserve water or donate money

    did not expect drilling wells

  • with what money...?

  • really cool vid

  • Actually, it is the fault of the Western powers that conquered the various regions, drew their lines through tribal and ethnic people and then left them. They exploited the shit out of many African countries for resources and labor. Republican Power: Do you know any history? Or should I assume that you are an American that is affiliated with the crazy religious, racist, right-wing Republican Party and therefore I should know better than to ask you if you know any history...

  • you guys are great helping the innocent and plus i saw you on tv

  • you poor ignorant! I can't belive people like still exist in 2009! you should read a little or at least watch some documentaries about the world you live in!

  • Probably one of the most ignorant comments I've ever seen on youtube, but what can you expect from someone who's name is rebublicanpower...

It may not be your fault they're currerntly in this situation, but by doing nothing it's your fault they stay there.

  • they're poor, smartie. do you really think they can walk up to their local store and buy a bottle of water?

Do you really think they want to be in the dark ages? it's not their choice, it's their government's. and boy oh boy do you need to look up some of the African leaders. Educate yourself.

no, it's not our fault. But it's not theirs either. We have the resources to help them, which is why we should.

  • Also that vidio shows very clearly that they have no money to buy water if they did they wont walk hundreds of miles to get it

  • I think you talk crap it is are fault they have no water we are in this world together and we need to help each other,we dont leave them to suffer. If you were in that situation I am sure you would love people to help.We are the human race and we need to work together

  • True, its not your fault. AND it is not because you are so great that you found yourself in the land of opportunity where your choices lead to good things. Neither you nor they had much choice in the matter. It is what it is. NOW, to those who see what it is, and have the COURAGE to do something about it... Those are the HEROs! If you think someone is telling you it is your fault, perhaps it is your conscience prodding you to do something good. Your posting here won't stop your conscience.

  • Well.. it's your point view... bur remeber my friend.... that, they don't have any money to buy bottle water..... and they are like this now, with all poverty and war not due to their choice. major superpowers are responsible too!!! Africa is a very rich continent but most part of the richess is going to other countries..... =S sorry if you dont understand my english

  • YOU don't want to see the truth and admit the blame...but next time that you FART remember that you are contributing to global warming and to the poverty of people worldwide.
