@cordeliaistheone I should have been more clear: I meant the pain of her adult life is brought on by her self, though not adult, in a sense able to see herself in the eyes of others. It's fact that she understood it would grant her attention which (in my opinion) made hers an "adult" decision. The way it begins, her tendency to see herself only through the eyes of an admirer (both for her talent as a writer and to admire her somehow)...that proves it to me: pity for her comes only in retrospect.
