  • Or you could take a portrait shot instead of croping a landscape shot

  • I'm from swédén too! :)

  • IM FROM SWEDEN TOOOOO :D

  • My fellow 50D owners, he admits that he is scared of us! Let's unite and bring him out of profession! lol Just kiddin. :D

  • Norway <3

  • Watch some Canon EOS 500D Videos on my Channel.

  • 0:30 That is a big-ass camera lens!

  • ISO 12800 Sucks on the 50D i think!

  • @Jangott92 Its noisy but what do you expect? The images are still perfectly acceptable for facebook LOL better than any compact.

  • @Jangott92 I mean the quali of the pics

  • ''and as a proffesional i find that pretty scary'' ... that made me laugh so much

  • His voice sounds like something coming out from a computer.

  • his voice is nice,

  • I can't believe that the 60D replaced this, after watching! :O

  • @joshua25071994 Technocally the 60D didn't replace this, the 60D is more a massive step up from the 550D but not so much a step up from this.

  • Excellent review :) well done

  • Worst fucking accent ever. I am a swedish photographer but Aj dunt spääk thäs wäääy. Work that accent away.

  • I own this camera and can state what a wonderful investment it has been. Anyone looking to take a step up should look at the 50D. It's a great camera.

  • His pictures are far more amazing than his accent.

  • sorry, but I don't get off taking pictures of birds...

  • Man, I'm a Swede myself but this guys accent is driving me nuts.

  • @HSBurn LOL

  • Finns say Swedish guys are always talking about how good they are at shooting stuff, so is this good when shooting in the dark....

  • @JANSi97 Canon 70-200mm 2.8, most likely the IS version.

  • naychure foto graffy

  • like eeeeaglesss

  • 1:47 was awesome!

  • "Unleash the photographer within"

    LOL

  • I have to say this is the best review I've seen so far, simply because there are actually sample photo's.

  • 50d has 9 cross AF points, 550d has that same old AF system from 400d with only one cross point. 50d autofocus is fast and precise, 550d autofocus is pokey, it's okay for landscapes but it's useless for anything moving.

  • I'll stick with the 40d ^^

  • "auto focus" is "altoo fookas" in sweden xD

  • Ohh sweden, as najs :D

  • lol.. " with this camera almost everyone can take a good wildlife photo...and as a professional..that's pretty scary.."LOL

  • @fdrpyahoocom Yeah that was a funny touch to the review **cough** ad **cough** :P

  • This is a totally fantastic advert for the 50D including the sound of the camera. Canon should sponsor this guy, it made me buy the50D.

  • I just bought the 50D i cant wait to go shooting some landscapes and wildlife too =)

  • Nice Pic´s Fantasic Canon

  • I would buy this camera if it had video recording.

To the snobs who act like no video is a good thing: you're morons with no real world experience. Go shoot flowers and trash cans.

As someone who actually travels, video is also essential. I can't be left without the ability to record. I can't buy or carry another expensive piece of electronics because of a crippled camera.

For the most part video recording is just a matter of firmware and doesn't cost hardly anything to add onto a camera.

  • @tooosweeet only a true snob or moron would call this a crippled camera. If you want to shoot video as well as pictures, go buy a phone; cameras like the 50D are for grown ups.

  • @LennyRhys That is to say you have a very narrow and limited use and don't intend to use it in the real world. If you just need to take pictures of babies or flowers for a mundane job or hobby then go ahead.

Call yourself a grown up but I call you a stupid snob who thinks his hobby world or studio is the only thing there is. For people who wish to record actual memories and events, people who travel and experience things in life, sometimes video is essential. No hardware reason it can't.

  • @tooosweeet for people who wish to record actual memories and events, there are things called CAMCORDERS.

  • @LennyRhys normal people can't/don't carry around a camera and a camcorder. There is a reason most compact cameras take pictures AND video. Like I said, there is no reason the camera cannot or should not record video. IT is a real disadvantage, why would I invest so much in something and I would still have to carry around either my old camera or buy a camcorder and carry that in addition to a large dslr because it can't do something I sometimes need.. impossible and not justifiable.

  • @tooosweeet compact cameras are not for photographers; dSLRs are. If you want decent video and dSLR-quality stills, you need two cameras. Period.

  • @LennyRhys I would say that the Canon 550D is better than this because it shoots HD video and DSLR quality stills. Therefore you don't need two cameras = better.

  • @Agaue22 That's fine - your opinion. Objectively, the 50D has better build quality, better weatherproofing, better ergonomics (totally different user interface), MUCH better continuous shooting speed (virtually double that of the 550D), and better high ISO performance.

No serious photographer cares about HD video which is why the 50D remains an immensely popular and capable camera.

  • d300 would be a much better option for wildlife espesh birds with the 51 point af system, it outperforms the 50d by far!

  • @quickshooter100 thats why you need to test the camera just dont read the spec.. If you had you will know that the 51 focus point is no use, retard

  • @yamahaevo well i use them well.... and all 51 of them are useful to me. D300 and 500mm f4 vr.... just awesome! :O)

  • heh.. I think its time to upgrade my 40D (not to 50D but the the 1D series xD) I do take a lot of wildlife photos too.... I get most of my inspirations from Brutus Östling :)

  • I whatched your video because I´m thinking of buying the EOS 50D. Now I´m pretty sure I will ;-)

I also thought of the EOS 7D but this camera might be one class over my knowledge...

To be scary as a professional fotographer like you that too many people are able to make really good pictures, makes sense :-)

  • CANON 50D IS BETTER BY FAR.....?

  • i have one, i soo like my camera :)

  • eeeeegles...lol

  • which one better?

nikon d5000 or canon eos 500d?

    i need your help

  • I got the 500d, Im in love with it. I like it more

  • Don't compare different things. The rebel T1i or eos 500d is closer to the d5000 than the 500d

  • my dad has the 500d butthe nnikon may be better with the tilting screen, other than that, there about the same

  • With the Canon, there are more lenses aval incl. old ones dating 20years back

  • @aimanni99

Canon 500D! The Nikon D5000 is in the same league as the Canon 3000D, both are beginners cameras.

Try comparing the Canon 500D to the Nikon D90

  • get either 50D or D90 they are very good

  • @korgpadude true d90 have quite good photos. but body is a plastic toy... canon have aluminum armor inside...

  • one question. he said that 6.3 burst shoot speed is perfect for birds. i understand that he meant any speed slower than 6.3 fps is good, but not good enough. what if the fsp speed is faster than 6.3? like a 10fps? would that speed be still a perfect one for birds?

  • N6600 Yes those speed would be even better. anyhting higher would be good also but you also run the risk of too many shots. This mean that if you have anyhting higher you will see alot of the same thing you would be taking pictures so fast you would see every single movment meaning that you would have a lot of shotts with the same positions.

  • i see. thanks man. would be getting the 50d anytime next year, as soon as i have enough money saved. thanks.

  • I wish I had a job to save for one haha. It seems like a great camera tho.

    :]

    Good lucky getting one!

  • don't worry bro! anything's possible. thanks for the info again. ,")

  • I must to have this body! Great.

  • i prefer nikon, but there things that the nikons do that can get annoying. does anyone have any problem at all with the eos's?

  • hi this camera is weather proof ??

is video recording hd or no

    pls responce my question

  • The 50D is weather resistant, not waterproof!

There is no video recording (thank goodness)

Although I own this camera, you can find answers to these questions on the internet

  • splash proof? pls help...

  • @hhhkkkhhhjkjki

    What help would you like?

I guess you are wondering if the Canon 50D is splash proof. Well it has more weather seals than the Canon 40D (the 50D is not a replacement, just has a few improvements). It is splash proof as in if it gets caught in a light shower than yr ok...just remember that the vast majority of lenses are not splash-proof

  • @buggy831 is the auto focus fast??? will it sometimes even in bright light fail to focus?

  • @hhhkkkhhhjkjki i have a lot of trouble with autofocus on my 50d. maybe it is just me, i don't know, but i have taken literally around 10,000 shots and read several books to try to get the most out of this camera and still i find the autofucus pretty crap. single shot or multiple shot settings still it is the same. using single focus points doesn't help either.

  • I'm not a author of this film, but I can answer for your question. This camera is weather proof. 50D cannot record any video totality.

  • So is there a reason why this would be more preferred over the 7D besides cost?

  • The thing with the 7D is that it is still a cropped sensor. The 50D with it's 15MP sensor is enough. I do not understand why they would want to cram another 3MP's onto a crop sensor.

Why not just buy the 5D Mk II which is full frame???

  • superve

  • superb

  • having a lens worth thousands helps..

  • @codycody08 its not the lens or camera that makes photos it photographer , you can buy 2000$ lens buy you WILL suck

  • @codycody08 it really does :D we have 3 L glass lens :P ahh all we need is that 7D! xD

  • @codycody08 No shit, it's the same for absolutely any camera. Slap a kit lense on a 1ds MK III or a 5D MK II and it will look like crap too.

  • luwie1990

You really can't do anything about it but there are alternatives:

    - Get a small constant aperture lens eg 17-55 f2.8 is usm

    - Slow shutter speeds eg 2 seconds 30. secobds etc

    - Get a proper flash or use the standard built in

this is all to get alot of light in

Ps never ever use an iso beyond 400 the picture will get grainy

  • 800 imo

the 40D can handle 800 ISO pretty well. The 5D MKII, from what I've seen, can handle H1 ISO pretty well.

  • i put my 50D at high ISO due to low light environment and it always turn out very noisy.can anyone teach me how to adjust to make it not so noisy?at least reduce the noise, haha without spending money on external flash or wad.hahaz i heard tat shoot at Large size and den resizing is useful,is it??=D

  • I'm British with perfect teeth and very proud to be British, what a stupid comment. Anyway racism about countries aside, I am a professional photographer and I have two 50D's.

I could be a professional with a compact camera and still produce fantastic shots. Stop worrying what cameras you have and refrain from calling a camera unprofessional as you clearly have no idea what you are talking about!

  • i have de 50D, and it's betters than the 5D II for the wildlife, 6.3fps is better :)

the most important is not the camera, but the photographer :)

  • im still new to the canon eos 50D and still exploring it. I use SIGMA 70-300 mm zoom lens, Canon kit lens and sigma 10-20 mm wide lens.I don't really like the color of my photos even thou i set the aperture and shutter speed as needed. it seems the color display is different to my friend that use Canon EOS 40D as well. Now the question, Is that the lens or the camera itself that make the color different? i hope that any of you can help me. Thanks.

    Regards,

    Juenna

  • Loved what you said at the end "I find that pretty scary" hilarious!

  • i agree it was funny :)

  • yes because he said, "with this camera, nearly everyone can take a perfect wildlife photo." he might lose his job dude, that's why he found it pretty scary. lol would be getting the 50d by next year. saving money for it.

  • Birds get off at 6.3 - cause 6.5 is just that bit too fast.

  • lollll .... this guy is faking the accent ... lame add

  • no, he's from sweden ^^ we got that accent

  • wow, i wonder how much he got payed from canon!

  • crap! Any suggestions how high he´s salary from canon haha

  • Is it any different from sports stars doing adds for products? At least he's a real photographer and he knows what he's talking about.

  • not really, 9 point AF of the 50D is way to bad for flying bird... Servo-Focus cant manage to track such small animal... compare to what the D300 can offer... With what, more than 40 AF point?

  • He is a professional photographer who OWNS the Canon EOS 50D and doesn't work for Canon.

Seem you guys don't use the peanuts between the ears.

  • Haha you must be kidden. who would ever spen his time make such a "salespeach" and by the way, the eos 50D is not a professional camera only a semi-professional. Would a professional photografer use a 50D camera? Why not use the 5D mark II?

  • Dude, if you knew anything about cameras you would know that a 5D mkII is not intended for wildlife photography. It has 3.9fps shooting, and a full frame sensor. Just because it's new and expensive doesn't mean it's the best camera for every job. The 50d is a step lower than the 1d series, 5d mkII is in a league of it's own.

  • I got a 5d mk2 and it is an amazing camera , in portraits and lanscapes is exellent but for fast moving objectives ,,, I don't even bother, that's why I have a 40d wich is not half bad with portraits either but comes a little short compared to the 5d mk2 and when u shoot u have to work around the shortcomings that any camera has , that's why I hate people so hung up on tags, 'pro' ''full frame'' ''prosumer'' so on and so on,,don't u hate it ? and to notice that a lot of them don't even shoot

  • yeah man, thats why i have the 1D for fast action shooting, wild life, sports, and the 1Ds for landscape, and protraits.

  • although this is on the canon website and produced by canon as an advertisement, so its safe to safe to say this guy got paid for the ad

  • what lense?

  • he used canon 70-200mm F/2.8 IS L lense

  • sick thanks!

  • look another 40d with 50d badge.

  • Woah, what an unbiased review!

  • It's an advertisement. What, did you expect Canon to rubbish their own camera?

    Think next time...

  • currently im shooting with my eos 400d but my next slr will be the eos 50d :D

  • your tripod mount is upside down dude. 50d is not worth the upgrade from the 40d in my opinion.

  • Hehe, ofc. You don´t want it sticking in your hand.

  • are you serious? i know tons of pros including myself that use this lens and i never hold the tripod mount when shooting. let me guess, next you'll say holding the lens from the top is the new thing.

  • What you mean with "I never hold the tripod mount when shooting"? That´s sort of why you turn it upside down, to get rid of it.

  • so either you have very small hands or you just don´t zoom as much as other do.

  • Can you speak Swedish language or are you the arrogant USA bloke or British Pom with bad teeth to show who you are??

Maybe a mix who never been to SWEDEN and can only criticize and too lazy to make a informative video clip.

  • just so that i understand your reasoning: if i'm from the usa or from the uk i have bad teeth and i'm lazy. that's irronic coming from a country that believes in community property and socialized medicine, i.e. a culture to discounts the advantages of exemplary healthcare and emphasis on high standards for self.

  • haha isnt it?

  • Nice english... :D

  • norway looks beautiful, great shots, great review!

  • Comment removed

  • it says they're in norway. good job paying attention though and trying to correct me :)

    listen carefully from :16-:18 seconds.

  • where are the cons in this camera?

  • it's relatively expensive, High ISO's such as 6400 & 12,800 don't look very good. what else... 9 af points vs. D300's 51 af points.

what i like about this camera is the 2 custom functions on the mode dial, that is EXTREMELY useful, the screen on the back is quite nice, the battery life isn't too shabby either.

would i buy this camera... no but that is because i have invest thousands of dollars in nikon lenses. if you are starting out, get either a canon rebel or nikon D40

  • very god vid!

  • Thanks very nice pictures.

Thanks for the vid, educational too.

  • excellent photos.

  • I bought 40D like 6 months before, hmmm.... interesting but im going for 5D Mark II ;) I think it's much greater for me.

  • i want to buy the 50D too. should i wait a couple of months for the flaws to be weeded out?

  • Same here, i'm upgrading my 20d for this model. I knew it was gonna come out but wasn't expecting it to be this soon. Good thing i didn't blow it on the 40D, the 50D is a huge step up.

  • I will buy that soon
